Craig Bellamy arrested over Cardiff assault claim

Wales and Cardiff City striker Craig Bellamy has been arrested by police investigating an alleged assault in Cardiff city centre.

The incident happened in Caroline Street in Cardiff city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.

South Wales Police said two men, aged 20 and 26, sustained facial injuries which did not require hospital treatment at the time.

Mr Bellamy, 31, has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Cardiff City FC said it would be inappropriate to comment but the striker would be in the squad for the game at Norwich City on Saturday.

Police have not named Mr Bellamy, who is on loan at Cardiff from Manchester City, but in a statement confirmed a 31-year-old man had been arrested

Was going to say that. That interview he did after we lost to city at home when he tried to take a moral high ground and started slating Terry. What a prick! To quote him "everyone in football knows what that guys like"

Sometimes I wish folk wouldn't think "i'll take a few licks because this guy is famous and I can sell my story" and just stomp that wee c**t right into next week

He's had that coming for a while. Can't say I'm upset about it either.

There's been a few footballers who needed a smack in the gob - John Hartson always rated highly in my mind (yeah, I know he's been ill, but before that !) Didn't he kick one of his team mates in the head at training when he was with WHU ?

only wish i had a chance to smack him a few. team bridge my arse, true story when he was with coventry i think,hes team mates use to lock him in the bus toilet so they wud'nt have to listen to the git
