The Lerner thing is what stymies me. It seems he had a good manager before, but refused to give him much of the money from selling their best player (I guess they considered Ireland that payoff) and yet now he has appointed an inferior replacement, and as soon as they are threatened with relegation, authors a club record signing....

I think Bent will be a success with Villa. But their strikers, before now, were utter crap. Aggy has scored once this year, and Hesky is Heskey. It wouldnt have taken much to find someone better than they have, for not as much as they paid for Bent. (Robbie Keane on loan mightve been one option, or taking one of City's rejects)

Then again, as a few people said in the other thread, Bent's record is pretty incredible given that he is not considered a top tier striker.

This is the man who claimed he turned down 20 million from Spurs for Kenwye Jones. I guess he wasnt going to to miss the train a second time?
