My mate once sorted out a trip for him and his mates to Cardiff for a lower league final and booked a hotel in Newport which he thought was the one a few miles away from Cardiff. Turns out it was a town called Newport in Shropshire about 100 miles away. They only found out when he texted the hotels post code to the bus driver a few days before they were supposed to go. Cue frantic hunting for a hotel in Newport Wales. Obviously we were all really sorry for him and didnt give him any grief at all......

They sure learned they lesson. It takes at least 14-15 hours to travel to Bucharest from Budapest by train, so they had virtually no chance to correct their mistake. If they played it smart they remained in Budapest, enjoyed the city and watched the match on a big screen somewhere.

Worst case scenario, they tried to go with train with multiple changes, or with a car + a map, and the night reached them in Transylvania...
