Tim W
See the Everton goalie from the sixties has slipped silently away. He was a good goalie.
pipoldchap
He was a really good keeper, brave and a bit of a character. He fell on hard times after retiring and taken advantage of by money lenders but Everton helped him later in life and restored his dignity. Sadly succumbed to cancer. Peckham Blue
He was a really good keeper, brave and a bit of a character. He fell on hard times after retiring and taken advantage of by money lenders but Everton helped him later in life and restored his dignity. Sadly succumbed to cancer. I heard Joe Royal taking about him on Talksport today, a great keeper in an era of great keepers. I can think of Banks, Bonetti, Shilton, Sprake (yeah!), Hughes, Shilton among them. Shame, RIP. loz
That is sad news. For me the best British keepers of that era were Jennings and Shilton.

I forgot shovel hands, Alex Stepney and Bob Wilson too. In effect every team had a very good goalie.
BlueBeard
RIP Gordon West He played in the 60's & 70's for Everton, and had a certain song sung for him by the Shed merely because his name rhymed with 'Best'. He was a decent keeper, but had to contend with Gordon Banks and Peter Bonetti for an England place. My thoughts are with his family.
