So a new Judge Dredd film is out this week and it beter be a hell of a lot better than that god awful Stallone guff a few years back. Reviews make this sound much closer to the comic version, much grittier and violent than the smiley sh*te with Rob friggin Schneider in it. Dredd 3D hopefully will spawn some follow ups where we could get to see characters from the comic stories, the Dark Judges, Fargo`s etc so it better do well.

I get the impression that the first film would've been much much better had Rob Schneider not featured (which can probably be said about every film with him, except possibly Demolition Man where he was unusually low key).

Does look like a well shot, atmospheric action film the new one, only worry is that they don't keep any of the dark humour of the comics. Do wish they'd stop playing the ad for it every single ad break though.

We saw the trailer before Dark Knight Rises and both thought it looked utterly awful, but the reviews so far have been fantastic... curious to see what it's like now

Saw the trailer for it, thought it looked pretty woeful. Never saw the Sly version either.

I always liked the old film, though I haven't seen it since I was about 14, so my view could possibly

change, if I were to see it now.

I remember it being too short.

The director is responsible for the atrocious Vantage Point and I'm not much of a Karl Urban fan, who I find to really lack charisma. On the other hand, Judge Dredd isn't a role that requires much of that and Alex Garland is doing the screenplay, so there's some genuine hope that this could turn out alright. Can't imagine paying to see it in theaters, though.

Karl Urban will always be Eomer to me.

I've never watched or read any Judge Dredd, so the preview just looked atrocious to me. Definitely won't be checking this one out in theaters, maybe on DVD if the reviews are good.
