Tottenham v West Ham

Featured Replies

I know that there are strong feelings against both of these teams, but i was reading today, from Dan Leven - and excellent Chelsea source - that during the game today, those lovable West Ham fans were singing songs about Hitler and Gassing Jews over at White Hart Lane.

I remember reading recently about the press bringing up Chelsea fans making "gas hissing noises" at the Lane recently, even though this was untrue. However, I wanted to know if this is being picked up on in the UK?

Look, i detest both of these clubs, but I absolutely condone this sort of thing. Not to mention that West Ham is Jewish owned, this is the sort of crap that needs to be cut out of football totally?

I am interested to know if anything is being made of this, or if it's all still about Clattenburg v Mikel?

Thanks

Thanks Davey,

pretty sad state of affairs, and thankfully they are saying that it is a minority of the fans.

We got accused of hissing at white heart lane a couple of seasons ago and we were not we wee going ssssshhhhhhhh as in we couldn't hear spurs singing which all fans do....at the time I just thought it showed how out of touch so many so called experts who write about fans are so out of touch with football culture

Not saying that this west ham lot were chanting some horrible sh*t they are well known for it the pikey bar stewards

I find it interesting that there's been far more condemnation of Chelsea fans' reaction to a manager whose appointment cannot have been expected to be anything but hugely unpopular than of West Ham fans behaviour at White Hart Lane.

The media in general have gone from backing Clattenburg, trotting out the same old tired "he's been through hell" nonsense, to backing Benitez, spewing the line that Chelsea fans reaction to the fat one was both "futile and pathetic".

You only have to look back to the reams upon reams written in condemnation of Chelsea fans in general when that guy from Hertfordshire was spotted making what looked like monkey gestures.

By all means feel free to analyse the reasons for this discrepancy. Personally I'd put it down to plain old fashioned hypocrisy. We've often been referred to as Millwall with money, meant as an insult but relevant in that both sets of supporters have been demonised, used as scapegoats. Which leads me to an interesting article, written by a Millwall fan a few years back:

The Demonization of Millwall Fans (Feb 2004)

With all that happened at the west ham v millwall game past...With whatever west ham do or destination they play at i normally read stuff like ..." oh the west ham fans are in fine voice"...Now i know for a fact they posture wherever they go and im also aware ,as ive seen at the Bridge in recent times , it seems security personnel are too bloody scared to jump on em and nick em..Whereas you or i may be slung out or worse...They get too much leaway....
