Old Fanzine

Spring cleaning started this week in the Cloakey household.Came across an old battered fanzine called Red Card, issue no.80, priced at 80p.No date and I cant remember which game I was at when I bought it.Does anyone remember this fanzine on sale outside SB,I wonder did it ever reach issue no.90.A strange color reference for a Chelsea fanzine.

yeah i remember red card, im sure ive got a few of them still somewhere. early 90s era.

i used to be a subscriber to the chelsea independant as well, i always remember their stand just on the left after you came out of fulham broadway. i might be wrong but i think some of those guys who were involved have something to do with cfc.net, though im not sure how is works.

Bridge News was the Official paper you got sent as part of your membership. I think ive got some of them somewhere too.

It turned into 'Onside' later on.

is the bloke outside the main gates on Fulham Road still there at the end of each match shouting 'Chelsea Magazine 'Urry Up'?

Then there was the bloke on the main concourse between the shed and the East Stand who used to sell Chelsea Lottery tickets and he used to wear some blue and white striped suit that his mum or gran must have knitted for him. He was a huge bloke and looked well silly.

Like bjd, I've got a few issues of Red Card tucked away somewhere, along with a few Chelsea Independent's & Matthew Hardings' Blue & White Army (which is now CFCUK). All of them were a better read than the official matchday programme, and much cheaper.

The "urry up" guy is there rain and shine every game.

Was at Watford the other week (don't get to many away games) and was impressed to see him outside the turnstile shouting "urry up"

Even saw him in Cardiff when we beat Arsenal.

Along with the smell of fried onions and police-horse sh*t, he has become part of the Chelsea matchday experience!

Also wore a knitted (i think) flat cap. The cardigan/knitted stripey coat he used to wear was knee length, and the hat was covered in badges!

DJ even helps out with the tours around the Bridge now - some turnaround for a guy who was permanently banned by Roman's predecessor!!

His knowledge of Chelsea FC is second to none
