December 26, 20205 yr Have to say the apathy is creeping in about football in general for me. It's different for everyone especially our overseas fans but tonight for me personally was terrible and had nothing to do with the match and result. Boxing Day I've been going to Chelsea home and away for over 40 years missed a few but generally always there. Tonight no fans allowed, can't go to the pub, can't invite mates around to watch it, can't invite my kids and grandkids over. My missus sends me to the bedroom with my laptop won't put up with my swearing and shouting she wants to watch Call The Midwife or some crap. Really losing interest in football I haven't watched MOTD for ages there's just more important things to worry about at the moment. Stay safe everyone and happy new year.

For me it is an escape while living in a small bungalow with my elderly Dad who watches cheesy films at maximum volume.
December 29, 20205 yr Complete opposite for me. While of course the traditional match experiences you described are much more preferable I was losing my mind without football during lockdown 1.0. Having it as a distraction had been a godsend for me mentally.
December 29, 20205 yr When I was a kid I used to go to all of the games with my dad, and if Chelsea lost a game I would be in a strop for the rest of the day. Not sure if it's just a growing up process or what but I don't follow it as much as I used to I'll be honest. It's got to a point now where I really only watch us play and that's it usually. It's pretty much how commercialised the sport has come, and companies are taking advantage of fan loyalty. At the end of the day, it's only football, it's out of your control. If your team loses what can you do? Completely out of your control. That's the way I've been looking at it for years now. And I was lucky to even go to about 3 games a season before the lockdown stuff started.
December 29, 20205 yr I'm another one that sees football as a welcome relief from all the bullsh*t happening in the real word. I also think it's a particularly exciting time to support the club, we have a talented young team with plenty of academy boys and a young manager who genuinely loves the club (although I despair at the entitled attitude of many of our so-called supporters, but that's another long-standing issue unrelated to lockdown). I do find the relentless schedule with a match every few days a bit wearing sometimes though...
