The most amazing statistics of this season show that Chelsea as of today have lost fewer games and even conceded fewer goals than Man U. Even though they have lost their Premiership title they have kept more clean sheets - 21 to Man U's 15. Man U have lost 4 times - to Portsmouth (away), Arsenal(home and away) and West Ham(away) while Chelsea have been defeated just thrice - to Tottenham away (dodgy Terry send off), Boro away (90th minute Viduka goal) and Liverpoool away (with Ferreira and Essien in central defence) and have not lost at home at all.

Here are some more nos: that will surprise you...here is a look at some of the first choice 11 in both teams and lets see how many matches they have missed this season

Chelsea did not have

--------------------

Petr Cech for 18 matches

John Terry for 11 matches

Ricardo Carvalho for 5 matches

Micheal Essien for 5 matches

Ashley Cole for 13 matches

Joe Cole for 25 matches (and he only started 9 of the 11 he played)

Arjen Robben for 15 matches

Man U did not have

----------------------------

Van der Saar for 5 matches

Rio Ferdinand for 3 matches

Nemanja Vidic for 11 matches

Gary Neville for 11 matches

Paul Scholes for 7 matches

Michael Carrick for 5 matches

Ryan Giggs for 7 matches

I'll give you another one. Sad old git that I am, I often work out what how the table would stand if there were still only 2 points for a win. As it stands, with 3 points for a win, the top of the table is as follows:

P W D L PTS

MUFC 36 28 4 4 88

CFC 36 24 9 3 81

However, if there were still as there were for so many years, 2 points for a win, the table would be as follows:

P W D L PTS

MUFC 36 28 4 4 60

CFC 36 24 9 3 57

Interesting?

Showing your age.

Have you worked out how teams would have got on if no subs were allowed? We'd have been stuffed at Reading.

Only 1 side have beaten us with 11 men on the pitch, Boro!

We had 11 at Anfield in the 2-0. Which player didn't count?!

Didn't Ballack get sent off?

Well there's a turn up. Adrian Durham on TalkSport quotes the above stats as reasons why Chelsea lost the premiership rather than the Mancs winning it.

So thats 92 key player/matches for Chels and 42 for the Mankers

Wasnt Cudicini injured as well - or did we really play Hilario out of choice

In any case I blame Hunt

Of course Carlo was injured as well, but it's pretty clear that those 7 from each side are first-choice players. Right, back to my radio show alongside Wrighty.....

my mistake. icon_redface.gif

Where did ballack get sent off then?

Easy mistake to make though. There were plenty of games where I thought Ballack had left the field,

only to realise that he was still on when he gave away a free kick on the edge of our box.
