Thank you for the correction. Typical me getting the date wrong! As a keen historian I should know better.

The players of Rangers and Celtic standing at the end of the Scottish Cup Final Replay on 17th April 1909.

The final ended 2–2 on 10th April, prompting a replay which took place on 17th April.

When that ended 1–1, the initial assumption was that extra time would follow, but competition rules only provided for that in the event of a second replay.

When it became clear to the 60,000 crowd that extra time would not be played, and fuelled by rumours that the results were fixed  to increase ticket revenue, the crowd invaded the pitch.

In the ensuing disorder, the goalposts were torn down, parts of the pitch were ripped up and the wooden pay-boxes were set alight. Mounted police and the fire brigade also came under attack and in total there were over 100 injuries.

Both clubs requested the SFA not schedule a second replay and subsequently, the trophy and medals were withheld. Queens Park F.C.the owners of Hampden, were paid £500 in compensation by the SFA, who ordered both competing clubs to pay an additional £150 each.

Rangers v Aberdeen in late August 1967. Just liked these photos.
My old man and his mates always stood at the area of stanchion on the left hand side of the picture. The one directly beneath the floodlight on the roof of the old North Enclosure.

From 1989. Mo Johnston's first game back at Parkhead after signing for Rangers. The other Rangers players are Trevor Steven, Ian Ferguson, Stuart Munro and John Brown. Difficult to tell but I think it's Ray Wilkins behind Bomber. The score was 1-1.

Think it’s safe to say Mo Johnston received ‘a warm welcome’ from the home supporters that day !😀😀

Indeed. Especially after he was going to sign for Celtic and then switched to the Blue half of Glasgow!

Peter McCloy is in that picture.

He would win his first League Cup medal in October 1970 against Celtic and his last fourteen years later, in October 1984 against Dundee Utd !

A fine goalie and given his height it's no wonder he was nicknamed The Girvan Lighthouse.
