August 1, 20241 yr A place for posting photos, videos, stories, comments etc about Rangers players, teams and games- and also photos of Ibrox and the surrounding areas - in days gone by. This picture has already been posted before but shows a player who played for both Chelsea and Rangers. No prizes for naming him. @erskblue @Scott @carrickblue and others. Enjoy posting and looking at stuff about Scotland's finest. As I've mentioned before I would hate to see Chelsea play Rangers in a competitive match. Would be a case of divided loyalties. WATP
August 1, 20241 yr Author One of the most famous goals in Rangers history. The winning goal in the 1973 Scottish Cup Final. Scored by the late, great Tom Forsyth.
August 2, 20241 yr Ipswich gave a brilliant performance. It was 2-1 going on 5 or 6-1, that sunny Saturday back in early August 1981. The gulf in class was that big.
August 2, 20241 yr Rangers playing at Ibrox Park in 1920. The pavilion and grandstand that can be seen on the right of the pitch, were replaced by the new (and current) Main Stand in 1928. The 'Bovril Stand' (North Stand) can be seen on the left. Ibrox would remain a bowl shaped Stadium until the summer of 1978.
August 2, 20241 yr Author Doddie and Bomber with the Scottish League Cup after beating Aberdeen 2-1 in the final in 1979. They scored the Rangers goals.
August 4, 20241 yr Top picture is late June 1978 and the very early stages of the demolition of the Copland Road Terracing. Bottom picture. May 1979. The new Copland Road Stand is nearly completed. These two pictures were taken from very nearly the same spot. Edited August 4, 20241 yr by erskblue
August 4, 20241 yr 4 hours ago, Boyne said: I had a few copies back in the day. Seconded. I think they are currently being archived on The Rangers Archive website. That will be a gold mine of amazing Rangers historical information.
August 4, 20241 yr Author After beating Celtic 3-1 in the Dryburgh Cup Final of 1979. Davie looks happy. Not surprising after the goal he scored in the game.

August 5, 20241 yr Author I know I'm biased but for the Main Stand at Ibrox is the finest stand in football.
August 5, 20241 yr Author Recently posted elsewhere but what a great header and goal by Doddie. Edited August 5, 20241 yr by Boyne
August 6, 20241 yr Broomloan Road Terracing at Ibrox. Late 1950s or very early 1960s. Think it was taken during a Rangers Sports. Below: Early 1970s. 1962. The Broomloan Terracing has been concreted, well most of it. That’s the difference in shade.
August 6, 20241 yr Rangers at Gullane. Pre Season sand dune running. 1970s and mid 1980s. Think that’s a young Ally McCoist in the picture above. Apparently it was known as “Seagull Feeding Day!”
August 6, 20241 yr Author Another picture from Gullane. Can't imagine managers nowadays being allowed to kick a player even though it was probably just a gentle touch. Wallace was one of those old school managers. Did his National Service with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and spent some time in the jungle in Malaysia. One of the finest regiments in the British Army and Malaysia/Malaya was a tough training ground. I think the Royal Marines and Gurkhas still train there.
August 6, 20241 yr Author Willie Johnston and Colin Stein. They scored the goals when Rangers won the Cup Winners Cup Final in 1972.
