A manager couldn't get away with that nowadays. Players would be up in arms but then again there isn't many managers like Jock Wallace. Anyone who served with the King's Own Scottish Borderers and that service took him to the jungles of Malaya became tough.

Ally McCoist recently told of an incident when Wallace punched him. Ally said he deserved the punch.

Gary McSwegan scores v Marseille with I think his first touch of the ball. He’d just come on as a sub.

It was 1-2 and it suddenly and unbelievably was ‘game on’!

This made it 1-0 on the night. 1-1 on aggregate.

Gordon Smith. No 11 on the left of the picture, made it 2-0 with another header in the second half.
Rangers held out to go through 2-1 on aggregate. This, against a Juventus side packed full of Italian full internationals,most of whom had represented Italy in the 1978 World Cup Finals. One of Rangers best ever results in Europe.
