My take too. At that price it seemed a sensible deal for a Bundesliga player and I think it was even 45m, not GBP. The market fell through for Nkunku and Jackson and we sensibly decided to hold back. Entering a bidding war makes sense for a Prem-proven, established player like Caicedo, whereas Simons was always a gamble. Spurs only paid £51m or whatever because no other club entered the bidding, two or more clubs and Leipzig would have walked away with closer to £80m.

I've seen one Spurs game (West Ham one) and he didn't exactly blow me away, he was just okay. Think it's a bit too early to say unless he was truly world class v Brighton.
