Understand there’s no intention at the Chelsea end to try to hijack Tottenham and Simons. They’ve been interested in the player but never made a formal bid and have other targets. Bridges have been built in the relationship between Chelsea and Spurs over recent years and there’s no desire to demolish them now.

This makes no sense though; and reeks of the Huljsen “he is one of the targets we are monitoring..”. What other targets with the window closing in 3 days. Any other target at this point will be at least 30% more expensive, unless they are unwanted by their club.

Not bothered at all, I couldn't see how he fit into our squad.

Would have added elite creativity in the final third, and can play both LW & as a 10. Now we are stuck with Neto, Gittens & Garnacho on the left, the latter two both need game time to develop. One so far looks like a rabbit caught between the headlights, and the other has a history of throwing his toys if he is either not started or subbed off. Next season will be interesting as we have the £45m Quenda to throw into mix, and unless we sell one our attacking players I just don’t see how he plays.

Going to be Garnacho- Simon’s comparisons all season now.

Reputations are important within the game with players and agents. Making promises like we will definitely bid or come to us the manager wants you and shipping them out to Strasbourg or somewhere else on loan without a look in can’t help our reputation.

Why would us bidding for a player affect our relationship with Spurs? We can bid for who we like as can they. Did we leave him out to dry? A bit like Liverpool could do with Isak?

Strange one this.

Messed him about this summer so don’t blame him if he signs for Spurs.

What’s just as bad in my opinion is all the media briefings to try and appease us fans…

First……‘it’s nearly done just the fee to be agreed’

Then…..‘We need outgoings first’

Then……‘Nkunku specifically needs to leave first’

When all along the priority was Garnarcho.

Wouldn’t surprise me now if we ‘bid’ for someone on deadline day which has little chance of happening then the board can then say ‘we tried’.

Probably Fermin Lopez.

The fact we didn’t even make a proper bid at any time in the last month rang alarm bells for me.

He was Palmers backup. All this means is that Estevao will get more gametime in the middle.

You really would play Estevao in the middle this early in his career, and after what happened v West Ham?

I believe Palmer would play most minutes there, so yes if we are winning or need to refresh in the last 15/20 mins I would move Estevao there. Some talents like Yamal are ready at a very young age, I believe Estevao is the same.

So, he'll be up for sale again next summer when Spurs fail to qualify for the CL?

I think Spurs will do well. Controversial take, but they might beat us this season and challenge us for top 4/5. Frank is a good manager, better than Ange, and they've made good signings. People still acting like Spurs aren't capable of doing well are naive and coping.

Simons like some random Exercise Yoga pulley machine you see on Black Friday that you never really wanted.  You suddenly start coming up with reasons and scenarios were this machine would be a great idea you big it up more and more as you final decide to press the purchase you find out its all sold out.  You then spend the rest of the day sulking about losing out on something you never really wanted in the first place

That’s what it sounds like.

What if Maresca/sporting directors saw how good Joao Pedro was at CAM that they decided against Simons, or at the very least be against the asking fee? He technically was signed here to be a second striker before we saw how good he was at ST during the Club World Cup. Palmer is at CAM. Joao Pedro can play at CAM. Enzo can play at CAM which is arguably the only position he isn't a liability.

I do wonder if the inability to sell Jackson + Joan Pedro versatility is the reason we opted out of Simons. I suppose it isn't the end of the world if we keep Jackson.

What absolute dogsh*t, they're just trying to make themselves look good, but everybody knows they have been made fools of and have been undone by Spuds of all teams.

In a matter of hours, they paid 40m for Garnacho and lost Simons to Spuds, they should be embarrassed. This is on the same level as losing out on Kounde and Raphinha to Barcelona.

Going by our track record if we wanted him we would of gotten him.

The majority of the signings we have made are for players where there has been no competition. Caicedo and Lavia were the only ones I can think of, and we had to pay massive money to get Caicedo.

We technically never even made a bid.

Simons chose Spurs because he realized we were toying with him given we couldn't sell Jackson and prioritized Garnacho and Gittens of all f**king footballers.

Fermin Lopez is last minute desperation, they must have known Tottenham were on the move. From what I have seen of Lopez towards the back end of last season, he was used more as a CM.

Sounds like absolute woke nonsense. lol. They are a fecking London rivals, not our friends. And what relationship? We've not dealt with them on business matters in recent years as far as I'm aware, so this makes zero sense.

I'll be honest, I haven't watched Simons at all really. A little bit here and there, but mostly extended highlights. But from what I've read and heard, last season he wasn't far off of the stats Wirtz got, and Wirtz is touted as some generational talent who was sold for £100m+. If that's true then what a fumble by us. Xavi could end up really being the difference maker at Spurs, then we sit back and look like fools if Garnacho doesn't live up to expectations by making him priority. Lets just hope Simons doesn't turn out to be a missed opportunity, but I have a negative feeling about it all tbh, and that we will help strengthen a rival with poor decision making in the market.
