Clown Lake reacted to nonotnowjim in Tyrique GeorgeFair enough. My initial view from the little we have seen him, is that I dont think George is good enough to be contributing consistently to Chelsea. Personally, I think Garnacho is much better and more likely to be a player who can contribute to a successful squad.
Obviously, there are always tiers of players.
Superstars/other worldly - your Messi's, ronaldos, Maradonnas, Hazards
World class/best in class - Lamps, Cech, JT, Essien, Maka, Drogs, Zola,
Top Tier Supporting class - Ferreira, Azpi, Eidur, Brana,
Solid supporting players - Ramires, Cahill, Willian, Mikel, Loftus cheek, Pedro
Unspectacular, but can play a role - Bridge, Emerson, Kalou, KDH,
Players not good enough in the long run - Bakayoko, Hilario, Kenedy, Boga, Broja, Abraham, Scot Sinclar.
Personally...I put George in the final category. Can have a decent career - but not good enough for us. Garnacho I think has potential to be solid or top tier support....

Clown Lake reacted to terraloon in Tyrique GeorgeI think this ^^ is right.
The reality is that to most the presence of a HG player very much puts a tick in the box and despite all the negativity we still have a decent number of academy players in our squad and whilst they are going to find it difficult ( ironically not as difficult in RAs tenure) to break into the group there is a number of youngsters that are on the fringes indeed some are now sampling football at senior level on loan.
I think we all wanted George to be another of those players that not only were given a debut but proved worthy of a staring place. Sadly he isn’t but he will make a decent living at a good level but he on the evidence we have seen he isn’t ever going to get the game time he clearly craves.
Of course he might continue his development at say Fulham and suddenly have an amazing break out season and if he does we will get pelters from outside and no doubt some will point a finger at Clearlake but football is as we see a hard nosed, cut throat business where success has to be immediate literally no time to let a player to prove their worth.

Clown Lake reacted to Scott in Marc CucurellaBloody little Spanish terrier. 💙💙

Clown Lake reacted to Shweaves in Marc CucurellaI think he's very solid defensively - he's a terrier and keeps hounding players, often getting us out of tight spots. The old mistakes aren't there in the same way they were 2 seasons ago and nowadays when teams break through our left hand side it's generally when Cucu gets isolated and bypassed with a 1-2.
Also these days 60m does not get you a game changer anymore. Bear in mind he's cheaper than the likes of Fofana, Kepa, Lukaku etc. I think game changers are more in the 100m mark.
Weirdly, I was looking at Transfermarkt and it lists our purchase price of Havertz as €100m. I swear it was more like £60-70m?

Clown Lake reacted to dermott in Marc CucurellaDon't believe everything you read on Transfermarket. It was around 70m including add-ons.

Clown Lake reacted to nonotnowjim in Tyrique GeorgeThose criticizing the club here are probably missing 1 thing. That George has never really shown much to suggest he is a superstar in waiting.
I think he is a decent young player, but nowhere near good enough to consistently minutes at Chelsea.
The club then accepted a healthy deal from Fulham, and would have happily sold, knowing he was not likely going to play much for us… and the. The Wilson deal fell through, which has a knock on impact on George.
Those talking about Garnacho are (I think) deluded if they think the players are in the same category. Garnacho is for me much better already, with a much higher ceiling.

Clown Lake reacted to nonotnowjim in BlueCo buy Chelsea FCFully agree. That Jackson thread was so annoying. A couple of us giving logical debate - and then a load of WUMs and fanboys trying to bait, argue and wind the rest of us more reasonable people up.
So happy Wacko is gone - I really think that should be a force for good that units us as a fanbase....instead there is more bickering . A shame:
-
Its incredible isn't it, everyone watching games can see the difference in his contributions when playing right compared to centrally, yet he keeps doing it time after time. Its just moronic.
-
Exactly, it pins their midfield and defence too. But he wont play him wide right simply because he doesnt want a normal RB behind him, he wants this inverted nonsense which exposes Palmer, so instead of adapting to suit possibly our best player he`d rather play him out of position because it doesnt work with his "system". Its an abysmal display of either lack of flexibility or stubbornness.

Clown Lake reacted to OTL in Gabriel SloninaMaybe he goes to Strasbourg when Mike Penders returns. We probably need him as 3rd choice now that Bettinelli has gone, injuries to Sanchez or Jorg and hes needed on the bench.

Clown Lake reacted to Gol15 in Enzo Fernandez - Now sold to Man CityDay 1 after 1 training he was the first name for us, and kept being that till this day, for all practical purposes he is wearing the captains armband even so you're way out of your depth here thinking that Enzo is being picked last or even close to that, you having a laugh is just a sad side note.

If a club wants to sign someone with a broken leg and add them to their policy they can. The pay out may be lower or whatever but they can still do it.

Clown Lake reacted to OTL in BlueCo buy Chelsea FCGood news that we have got rid of this problem, would have been a poor show if we couldnt register players. Hopefully we wont get into such a position again. I expect its a relief to Uefa too, they can hardly feel comfortable grumbling about their World Club Champions.
