Alan
So our next pre-season game is tonight, kick-off 7:10pm. A few goals would be nice, and hopefully we show an improvement in the way we played on Saturday.
The Moos
Too bad so many players are missing. No Alex, Terry, Essien, Sheva, Ferreira, Diarra, Kalou, Mikel, Ballack, Robben, Bridge and perhaps Cashley. That's 12 players. Robben - Sheva - Kalou Essien - Mikel - Ballack Bridge - Alex - Terry - Ferreira That's an entire team (almost). Not a bad team either.

Alan
According to Blues News we're only without Diarra, Sheva, Terry, Ferreira and of course Ballack.

Hell anything would be an improvement on last match if not in atmosphere in actual performance! I hear Brondby are pretty weak at the moment - that's what we need right now....weak. I heard they are weak too. They are usually quite good but I guess every team can have bad periods. But their season started a long time ago so ther match fitness are probably way better than ours. So it's difficult to know what the outcome of the game will be. I'm hoping for a big win. 3-0 atleast. Would be a good boost before our game against ManU. The Brit
Hi everyone, been away in the us so not been around to watch many games, only the la galaxy one which was hilarious for the poor us commentary...anyway cfc have looked very average against brondy and from what I understand have done so in all of their games so far...a bit of a worry with 11 days till the new season...i thought the long summer break would rejuvenate us...not much sign of the more attacking footy that jose promised us this season
Alan
Decent half from us I thought, no real penetration but we've put together some good moves and seem to be passing the ball around well. Given time those moves and passages of passing will lead to goals.

callista
You thought we were decent? I thougt we were dire, tons of misplaced passes, no communication between the strikers, no grip on the midfield, defence at times a bit off - Jose was so annoyed with Mikel that he actually took him off early you could tell. Brondby could actually win this game if they put their minds to it. We just don't look like a team, merely a group of individuals who don't know each other very well. We are getting bundled off the ball all the time and just seem not match fit. This is even worse than the Rangers game for me, because we know how poor Brondby really are. Just awful, only brightened up the last 15 minutes or so but that's not saying much. No wonder Jose looks pissed off - he must be tearing his hair out wondering what the hell he does to get this team to look like the money that's been spent on it. Our pre-season games are just getting poorer every time they play.
The Brit
i know it's only pre-season but i was hoping to see some improvement on last season, better passing/more attacking intent...but little sign of that...we look like crystal palace!

The Moos
DROGBA!!! Bad cross from Johnno and Drogba battles with the keeper and wins it. I thought it would be a freekick to Brondby but apparently the ref likes us
glory55
Yes it is a boring match.........as I said before its pre-season. You cant judge the state of the team on pre-season! Me,my Dad and my brother used to do many Pre-season games in the past. My dad used to do the lot...... the mini tours in Ireland,Denmark,Sweden etc .....but not for the quality of football. People who complain about the quality of pre-season are completely missing the point!! Does anyone really think we will play like this when the season starts?? No Chance!! We may well have a slow start to the season....it could well happen ...Itss possible........ but not because of pre-season. Because thats Football! As for today who cares about the result?? As long as we keep everybody fit!! Im sorry but GET A GRIP Pardon the 'PUN' ..... But the negativity IS DOING MY SWEDE IN!!! OK,THERE DANISH
The Brit
sorry glory, but i remember the pre-season footy we played in 2004 which really set the tone for our first championship season under jose...i'm not getting too carried away/despondant, but Jose's face says it all...we know after last season that we have to start the season running as we know making up a gap is hard to do once it opens...second goal just gone in...that's the footy i want to see! callista
Well finally we got our arses into some kind of gear because we were appalling for the first half. Jose must have given them a bollocking. Glad to see some of the new guys out at the end. Joe Cole coming on made a difference, someone nippy, prepared to run and defenders to do something, anything to shake everyone else out of their stupor. Plenty to work on as our creation in the midfield is null and void. Even Drogba's first goal was again another defensive howler. My only hope is that we are just sleepwalking through all this because we can. Otherwise we are in trouble come Sunday. MU will not be as toothless as Brondby or so forgiving our all these misplaced passes. Where is the strong, pressing, physical Chelsea I know? No need to get sarcy Improved performance from us second half, Didiers second goal was a great strike and it could easily have been 3 but for a great save by Brondby's keeper from Pizarro's header. callista
Yes we finally woke up wiith about 10 minutes to go, decided that it all looked rather embarrassiing and for a brief moment looked like a semi decent premiership side. Still lots to do though - not looking forward to MU at the weekend not if we play anything like we did in the first half! Thank god for Joe Cole. Plus points for me whole game. Cole Cole Drogba in the end Pizarro - nice runs off the ball had a great header saved Glen - had a few problems but some of his passes into the box from wide were great. Our midfield first half was woeful, we didn't make one decent pass all night through there. Did Frank do anything in this match or has he had another "quiet" (for that read poor) game? His agent said that contract negotiations would not effect his game - I'm rather wishing they would at the moment!
callista
Hell anything would be an improvement on last match Youre new to this Chelsea lark arent you ? How long did Mikel actually last ? Silly sod. Mikel did not last long, he made two sloppy passes that almost cost us a goal, then Jose gets up from his seat and starts yelling Mikel! Mikel! at him and waving him upfield (I presume) and then literally 5-10 minutes later I think he comes off and he is obviously surprised because he goes "who me?" when he's walking off. So Jose was not impressed - in fact the Rangers game he had the same problem. Hopefully Jose's mood has improved a tad now but it must have been boiling come half time - I just couldn't believe how poor we looked - as if the players had never met each other previously before - so many bad passes and aimless ball to nowhere. forbzy
I keep seeing talk of this magical summer of 2004 when we had a great preseason. We did bag quite a few goals in the USA matches that summer but all those games were exhibition-style, minimal contact games so I'm not sure how accurately they would compare. Also it didn't do us much good in front of goal once the season started. Yes we won the Championship with a record points tally but it took us about 10 games to really find some form that season and Arsenal left everybody behind in the early stages. We ground out a lot of 1-0's and 0-0 1-1 draws at the start of the season. Remember the Tottenham bus? This season's pre-season schedule has been much tougher and we have mostly played teams that are either already into their seasons so should have a fitness advantage. I wouldn't say we have been overly impressive but we have to put it into perspective. I'm more worried about the injured players. Sunday will be a totally different game. I'm not saying we will win but I'm sure you will see a different performance and even then it doesn't matter until the following week.
