If we are going to play attacking football then...........

---------------------------Cech---------------------------------

-----------------Terry--------------Carvalho------------------

Belletti---------------------------------------------------A.Cole

--------------------------Essien---------------------------------

-----------------J.Cole--------------Lampard------------------

Kalou---------------------------------------------------Malouda

--------------------------Drogba--------------------------------

Both Kalou and Malouda press up against the opposition wingbacks so they are pegged back creating space in midfield for the trio of J.Cole, Lampard and Essien to run riot with Belletti and A.Cole providing support. Kalou and Malouda also provide and option over the top so can be deadly on the counter attack.

J.Cole and Lampard link up the play and create while offering support for Drogba. Belletti and A.Cole are both given lots of freedom to push forward with Essien covering where applicable ala Barcelona.

When defending, Kalou, Malouda and Drogba all press the opposition to stop them getting into a rhythum and win the ball back as soon as possible so we can attack again. Their large sizes will help us physically dominate the opposition.

That is how I would play if we are going to play attackingly.

---------------------------Cech----------------------------

-----Paulo--------Ricci-------JT--------------Bridge------

----------------------------Maka---------------------------

-----------------Essien---------Lamps-------------------------

-----Joe---------------------------------------------Malouda-----

-------------------------Drogba-------------------------------

Wirh Lamps giving the freedom to get forward and Essien giving a more reserved role that links the back five with the front four (the role Tiago could play well)

Bridge comfortably ahead of Cashley for both defensive ability and his ability to overlap and provide the width Malouda doesn't, and actually deliver crosses of quality.

Paulo ahead of Belletti because quality wingers will have a field day with Belletti's defensive positioning. Also having a more orthodox right back instead of an attacking full back will free up Joe more as he can play without excessive fear of losing the ball.

I agree with all of the above except replacing SWP for Kalou, just based on current form.

Thats very similar to how we tried to play against Fulham and it was a shocking failure.

Can't believe I am the only person with Bridge ahead of Cashley. Have you people not been watching for the past 14 months?

Actually I agree. Feel free to go back and edit A.Cole out of my formation, replacing him with W.Bridge.

SWP------------------------------Malouda/Cole

I would go for Belletti over Paulo because he looks good going forward and has enough pace to get himself out of trouble defensively. Paulo has hardly looked secure against good wing play (FA Cup final excepted)

Cole looks more dangerous to me on the laft than on the right. If he is prepared to play a more disciplined role then he would get my call over Malouda.

The only draw back to the above is that Drogba is potentially isolated and so he won't be a 30 goal man. But that didn't stop us winning the league two years in a row so let's go with it.

Of course the other problem is that SWP/Ballack/Carvalho/Lampard/JT/Essien are all injured!

Are you serious? That is not at all how we tried to play against Fulham. Against Fulham would be more like this:

.......................................Cech.....................................

.........

Belletti................Ben-Haim...........Terry.......................A. Cole

.....................................Makelele...................................

........

.......................................Sidwell..................................

..........

J. Cole.........................Shevchenko.............................Kalou

.......................................Drogba...................................

.........

As you can see, half of the players I want weren't even on the team.

And the team formation was the biggest disaster.

I might as well do a team too.

Cech (of course)

Essien (surprise!) Riccy & JT out here -> Bridgey

Cole (Joey of course) middle pair Lamps/Maka and Malouda

Droggie & Kalou

Now, I know some of you are going "wtf icon_eek.gif " and I do understand what you mean.

For me there's only 5 players who will always be certain of a place in the team: Cech, JT, Riccy, Lamps and Drogs.

Now, Essien as RB. I know what you think but the thing is that I don't really trust Ferreira or Belletti. One is strong in defence, weak in attack and the other is the other way around. Essien can combine both. He's good enough in both aspects.

I also put him there because I want Maka in midfield with Lamps. I wanna see Frankie join in the attack as much as possible and why not have dear old, solid Maka taking care of the defence then?

I chose Wayne as LB because the alternative is Cashley. Need I say more?

Not sure yet about Kalou. I think he's a good complement to Drogba and he is a good player even though he can't score a feet from an open net.

Might go with Pizzaro instead. Not sure.

I would have Essien at right back due to the fact i have not seen him have a bad game there .

Obi Mikel gets the holding role if he can regain his end of season form last year.

I would give Ballack one more chance . If he fails then move joe more in field and bring Swp into the team.

And for me Bridge is still a better crosser then Ashley and gets the left back slot for now.[align=center][align=right][align=center][align=left][align=justify]
