January 3, 200817 yr Author To be fair to Rangers there is no way they can afford to turn down that kind of money for a kid that, as far as I know, came through their youth system. For me he is the best Scottish right back probably since Danny McGrain. If the deal goes through it will be interesting to see if Smith tries to pick up a much cheaper replacement and if he also looks to sort out the left back problem at Rangers (depending on hwo things are looking for Steven Smith)
January 3, 200817 yr Author Yep just read that. Good news for Rangers in terms of the season but maybe not such good news from a financial perspective. His stock will not be as high at the end of the season as he is currently rated highlu due to his performances in the CL and for Scotland. By the end of the season these will be a little too far in the past.

January 4, 200817 yr He's snubbed the scum? My estimation of Hutton has multiplied ten-fold! Maybe he's heard a rumour that Chelsea have come in for him in a swap deal involving Ferreira? Loz, have you heard of a young right-back at Rangers called Alan Lowing? I just wondered if he's anywhere near ready to take over from Hutton, should he leave.
January 4, 200817 yr Author I have heard of him mate but never seen him play. As far as I know he has only made a handful of first team apperances (probably league cup) but can't really tell you more than that. The bloke I work with is a ST holder at Ibrox and know quite a lot about the youth plaeyrs - when I see him on Monday I will ask him.
January 5, 200817 yr The talk even out here in the states is: with wes brown at the end of his contract, and Neville still injured, Man Utd are going in for him. This could be after us signing Ivanovic.......Man U were going to have to look elsewhere
January 7, 200817 yr Author Bluebeard Spoke to my mate and basically Lowing is nowhere near first team duties. The problem Rangers would have in selling Hutton is that the only viable option they have as a replacement is Whittaker who is currently playing at left back because: a) Rangers don't have an orthodox left back (Steven Smith is their only one and he has been out for about a year with a pelvis injury of some sort) Papac who was filling at left back was clearly not up to it and getting caught out far too often. So Whittaker is now filling in which is till no ideal but means they would be stuck if he had to move to right back. Steven Smith is back in training very soon however it is more than likely that it will be the summer before they can fully assess how well he has recovered from the injury and whether he will be able to fulfil the potential he showed before the injury. Rangers were trying to get a left back in the summer but didn't manage to get anyone they wanted. Opinion seems to be split up here with a lot of Rangers fans desperate to hang onto Hutton (understandably so given they have just gone back to the top of the table and they they have the uEFA Cup to come) and some thinking Rangers should take the money.
January 9, 200817 yr http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_3031747,00.html seems like he's staying...or at least not going to the y*dos
February 2, 200817 yr Author Well he made his debut today against Utd Bluebeard and by all accounts was superb
February 2, 200817 yr Well he made his debut today against Utd Bluebeard and by all accounts was superb As I've been saying for ages, we should have signed him - yet another good young British player goes to WHL while we sign an over-30 foreigner. That's nothing against Belletti, but we should be signing quality younger players with an eye to the future. Though of course, Grant clearly doesn't like playing younger players.....
February 3, 200817 yr he signed ivanovic who is, what, a year older than him... come on bb, you know the words: paulo ferreira, he is much better...
February 3, 200817 yr he signed ivanovic who is, what, a year older than him...come on bb, you know the words: paulo ferreira, he is much better... He might have signed him, but he hasn't played him yet has he? And I doubt he will, unless Belletti and Ferreira are unavailable - I don't buy that "he's not match-fit" b*llocks, it hasn't stopped him picking unfit players in the past. Hutton is far better than either Belletti or Ferreira, yet we didn't even look at him - kinda sums up Chelsea's buying policy for me. Spuds buy Hutton & Woodgate, we get some Serbian nobody's heard of and stick with possibly the worst centre-back in the Premiership - yes, I honestly believe Ben-Haim is right up there with Titus Bramble and Zat Knight in the 'Utter Sh*te' defenders league We also signed Di Santo, though I strongly doubt that he'll get a game any time soon, especially when the squad returns to full strength. I feel so sorry for our young players - the likes of Sinclair and Sahar must be wondering if there's any point in staying at Chelsea if they intend to have any kind of career in football. I only hope that I'm wrong and that Grant starts picking the youngsters now and again - but I won't be holding my breath.
February 4, 200817 yr Hutton played mighty well on Sat by all accounts. The Spurs might yet hold us to a draw at the Lane. No chance for the CC Final though. We're going to wipe them out! Pleased the Tiago deal fell through for them
February 11, 200817 yr He might have signed him, but he hasn't played him yet has he? And I doubt he will, unless Belletti and Ferreira are unavailable - I don't buy that "he's not match-fit" b*llocks, it hasn't stopped him picking unfit players in the past. Give Grant a chance, his been at the club like 2 games. Being unmatch fit and from another league I think it is right to ease him into the team. Hutton is far better than either Belletti or Ferreira, yet we didn't even look at him - kinda sums up Chelsea's buying policy for me. Spuds buy Hutton & Woodgate, we get some Serbian nobody's heard of and stick with possibly the worst centre-back in the Premiership - yes, I honestly believe Ben-Haim is right up there with Titus Bramble and Zat Knight in the 'Utter Sh*te' defenders league Even assuming Ben Haim is up there with the worst defenders in premiership, do you really think Woodgate would want to come to Chelsea to be the 4th choice CB?. As for Hutton being better than Belletti and Ferreira, I don't know, I haven't seen him play, but I doubt he is far better. We also signed Di Santo, though I strongly doubt that he'll get a game any time soon, especially when the squad returns to full strength. I only hope that I'm wrong and that Grant starts picking the youngsters now and again - but I won't be holding my breath. We all want to see the youngsters come in and succeed at Chelsea, but they have to be good enough. I am still entirely unconvinced that Sinclair and Sahar are good enough to have anything more than a squad role at Chelsea right now. Hutton at least has proven himself week in week out in the Scottish Leagues, unless I am mistaken, Sinclair and Sahar have yet to nail down roles in the Championship let alone for second tier sides in the Premiership. Ben Haim was one of the better defenders in the premiership and Malouda French footballer of the year before joining Chelsea and they both struggled which goes to show that making it at a club like Chelsea is tough for even the best the players.
February 11, 200817 yr Give Grant a chance, his been at the club like 2 games. Being unmatch fit and from another league I think it is right to ease him into the team Give Grant a chance? B*llocks! He played a totally unfit Lampard yesterday, which meant the rest of the side were working twice as hard to cover for him. Oh, and Lampard is no f*ckin' captain. Awful management, Grant doesn't deserve 'a chance'. All Grant has done so far is copy everything that Mourinho did, including team selection, tactics, and playing style (or lack of it). And his inability to judge when to make a substitution is costing us dear - he always leaves it too late Even assuming Ben Haim is up there with the worst defenders in premiership, do you really think Woodgate would want to come to Chelsea to be the 4th choice CB?.As for Hutton being better than Belletti and Ferreira, I don't know, I haven't seen him play, but I doubt he is far better. I also doubt that Woodgate would want to be 4th choice CB, but there are plenty of good young CB's around who would jump at the opportunity. Instead we're stuck with Ben-Haim, Israel's answer to Titus Bramble. You've never seen Alan Hutton play, yet you feel qualified to comment on his ability? Hutton has been in the Rangers first team for a few years now, apart from one season where he was out with a bad injury. He's got plenty of first team experience, including quite a few games in Europe. So how the f*ck are the likes of Sinclair and Sahar supposed to become 'good enough'??? Send them out to Championship sides on loan? The only way that they can become 'good enough' for Chelsea is if they are given playing time in the Chelsea first team, but Grant (like Mourinho before him) hasn't got the balls to play them, he'd far rather select Pizzarro & Malouda - which just about sums Grant up. Ben-Haim was average at Bolton, but nowhere near 'one of the best defenders in the premiership', and if you really believe he was then I honestly don't know why I'm bothering to respond to your post.
