You're having a laugh, right? Cech's young for a keeper and even if he's not that good at saving penalties, he's still one of the best keepers in the world.

But talking of young keepers, Igor Akinfeev looks like a quality keeper. Maybe even the best young keeper in Europe at the moment. Not as good as Cech was at his age, but then again, not many keepers are.

Cech all the way...if we just can keep Gentle Ben away from his face.

Cech is the top keeper although I must admit, he has made more mistakes this season than any other. Just hope the knocks have not affected him too badly?

Musst say though, if at the bridge in the semi final, the tie is heading for penalties (God Forbid), I would bring on Carlo or Hilario as Cech never looks like getting near one.

Carlo is probably our best keeper at saving penalties, but I can't remember ever seeing any manager do that succesfully. I mean, replace the keeper with a penalty save specialist just before the extra time runs out. 300.gif

Besides, I don't think we can put all the blame on Cech when it comes to our miserable record in penalty shootouts, it's not like our penaltykick takers have been in inspiring form either. And Cech hasn't been totally hopeless, I can remember him saving at least one penalty...not during a penalty shootout, though.

I've always thought that the comical goalkeepers tend to do best in penalty shootouts so I'd definitely go with Hilario if the semi goes to penalties. Cech is a great keeper but hopeless at penalties.

I know a lot of us can't bear to watch when Hilario is in goal but he has often surprised me with his performances. If he does well in the next few weeks he may become a cult hero at the Bridge.

I believe that saving penalties is akin to making foul shots at basketball -- it is all about confidence, and if you don't have it, then you are out of luck.

dont need any new keepers

cech carlo and hilario are all top keepers

can you imagine how good cech will be in a few years time

when keeping goal becomes a natural instinct to him

carlo is an ideal replacement

we just having a bad run at the moment with them if cech gets injured carlo seems to get injured they must have the same sexy young nurse or something ChElSea2.gif

reports are we might be signing a new keeper due to our injuries? Also, I thought a while back we were signing or watching some other Czech starlet of a keeper?!

I personally don't feel that an 'emergency loan' is required for back-up as well as as the signing of a new shot-stopper in the near future, because, replacements van come from Chelsea itself.

Here is the complete list of goalkeepers at Chelsea FC:

Petr Cech

Carlo Cudicini

Henrique Hilario

Rhys Taylor (u-21)

Stuart Searle (player-goalkeeping coach, reserves)

Jan Ĺ ebek (u-18)

Niclas Heimann (u-18)

(all apart from Searle and Heimann have been capped at international level)

man. Petr was our best purchase with the most longevity at the peak of the game. he is simply awesome and going to be so for years.

in my eyes he is untouchable. However i would feel a lot better if we had someone to replace Carlo who as much as i love the guy, you have got to admit is an injury prone player. All im saying is Hilario can be bettered surely.
