Wanted to get your views as a (seemingly) decent Liverpool supporter, away from the CL thread, you can't be in there anymore this season icon_wink.gif .

What are you views on Gerrard, great captain, or in it for himself? Do you reckon he wants a move away? Or has the signing of Torres pretty much convinced him the team has the same ambition as him? That winds me up actually, if one of our players said the club didn't meet his standards, I'd tell him to piss off. Does he really think he's bigger than the club? What about how he is spoken about in the media, does it make you cringe when match after match he gets good ratings when he has been average?

Also, lets say Liverpool could make 1 player signing in the Summer, any position, any price, who would you want and why? And would do you just want rid of?

Torres is a bit good, if Benitez does leave/gets fired, do you think he'll stay? Would it depend on who you got in? Lastly, do you want Benitez to stay or go?

Just wanting some views without getting abuse hurled at me happy0034.gif

Half past three

That reminds me, last night on 'Have I got news for you' Brain Blessed (the guest host) said something along the lines of 'too much sex makes you deaf', to which Merton replied as quick as you like 'half past Two'. icon_lol.gif

Im not Gerrards greatest fan , ever since a celebration against Portsmouth were he pointed at himself and said 'me,me,me' . I obviously think he's a brilliant player whose pulled us out of the sh*t countless times but i dont like his attitude one bit. Theres been many examples of him making a stray pass then him blaming the player who it was supposed to go to. I've always said that Carragher should be captain , who is about what everything Liverpool Football Club should be. As for the media theres been many a time when i've come away from a game and said Gerrard went missing there to my mates or my dad and then looked in the papers and he's been given a rating of an 8/10 when he's barely been a 6/10.

If we could get any one player it would be Messi , the way he just skips past players effortlessly is class and the way we play now i think he suit pefectly on the right hand side. As well as Dirk Kuyt has done in that position , he doesnt have either the pace or the skill to take on players time after time.

As for players leaving...

Riise (not for 'that goal' but for the fact his thunderbolt goals have been masking his actual ability for 2/3 seasons now)

Voronin

Pennant

Kewell

Those four are players i definitely hope to see leaving , but i wouldnt be suprised to see the like of Finnan and Crouch and even maybe Alonso leaving. I also hope Lucas Leiva is sent on loan somewhere in the Championship because the lad needs to be toughened up if he wants to play in the Premiership.

Torres is superb and his song including the bouncing is equally as good even if my knees are killing me from it all. I dont think anyone could of expected him to be as good as he has been and it looks like he's next in line as top top strikers we've had after likes of Dalglish , Rush , Fowler. Also people always say we're a one man side , yeah but his name is not Steven Gerrard , it is Fernando Torres

HIS ARMBAND PROVED HE WAS A RED TORRES TORRES

YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE IT SAID TORRES TORRES

WE GOT THE LAD FROM SUNNY SPAIN

HE GET THE BALL HE SCORES AGAIN

FERNANDO TORRES

LIVERPOOLS NUMBER 9

BOUNCE!

As for Benitez , i think he's become unsackable with whats gone on and has the full support of the fans including myself.

You can't possibly be happy with the way Rafa's teams have done in the Premiership, can you? I mean Houllier at least went pretty close to winning it.

You ain't half right. Torres's finishing has been phenomenal this season - it's always so simple, always the right number of touches and always placed with such precision that he doesn't need to bang it in. Will this form last?

Although not in the CL semi when he missed chances both home and away because he seemed to want an extra touch when you fully expected him to pull the trigger.

Since the Houllier era the Premiership in terms of quality has gone up a lot. In between then Fergies still been at Man Utd and Wengers still been at Arsenal , still building on their own squads. Chelsea have been fortuate enough to have a man come in and give them the world to turn your team into world beaters overnight.

Liverpool however is a different story. Houlliers squad was full of rubbish and dead wood , Diouf ,Diao, Cheyrou (even if he did win it at the bridge:P) , Heskey etc. Rafa has had to basically clear out Houlliers side and build his own which he still is as it takes time and every Liverpool fan will back him to the hilt.

If Benitez gets sacked , we're right back to square one.

I certainly hope it will last , i expected him to be a bit soft like Ronaldo when he first came over to England and as much as you'll hate me saying it Drogba when he's in a mood to roll around but he's mixed it with some of the hard knocks , i remember him giving JT a playful slap in the face at Anfield in the league when Terry was moaning about something. Even today against the likes of Richard Dunne he wasnt phased by him , it was the other way round and Dunne was at fault for the goal today , backing off him like McCartney for West Ham with Ronaldo yesterday. He's actually very good in the air aswell which i wasnt aware of before he joined so if we get some decent wingers in who can cross a ball , i can only see him getting better.

A difference between Drogba and Torres is that Drogba gives the team a lot more than just goals (see his performances in our first PL winning season). When he's had dry runs he's always worth having on the field because he wins 90% of balls in the air, and usually frees up space for other players because he's such a handful. If I was a 'pool supporter I would be very happy with Torres -it remains to be seen how he cope with any loss of form.

Loz: thank the Lord you're right! Torres was overwhelmed a bit by the occasion (he'd been at atletico ffs! hardly European elite).

However if you watch his goals one after another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aodfpOvyuxw it's hard not to be impressed by his economy and the cleanness of his finishing.

I have to agree with our new resident Scouser here.

Benitez is a victim in some regards of expectations created by his own success with the club.

torres' goal tally and finishing has been really surprising- I've been a fan for a few years and wanted us to sign him for while but I thought that at least initially he would be about a 15 goal and 10 assists a season man. like eidur he had all the different subtle kinds of finishes but also was capable of missing very easy chances. what impressed me more was his all round footballing ability so £26m represented a huge risk but you've done very well from it.
