Gael Kakuta - the future of Chelsea

Recommended Posts

Yea went and saw the youth team play live and this boy instantly caught the eye. Alot of skill and confidence BUT atm he doesn't have the best end product (cross or shot) but he is only young and will improve in these areas.

Looks to be the most promoising kid from our youth team.

Very exciting prospect. Let's hope he develops as expecyed and makes the step up to the first team

Anyone else read the comment below the video about him supposedly having signed for Arsenal? Probably - hopefully - total bollox, but don't forget they have history in stealing youth players (Anelka, Fabregas to name but two).

Mind you, we did the same with Woods from Leeds, didn't we?

excellent! i'm really looking forward to the next few seasons, seeing him rot down in the reserves or get loaned out to sh*t teams, eventually leaving our team without an opportunity to prove himself at the first squad level!

Reports claim that Arsenal have offered Chelsea’s Gael Kakuta a five-year-contract.

The 16-year-old moved from Lens last season and signed a long-term contract with The Blues, but he has not been happy with his lack of involvement and with the dressing room’s atmosphere.

The Frenchman is said to have asked technical director Frank Arnesen to give him a new deal with the guarantee to appear in the first team, something that has been rejected by the Dane.

“Here the atmosphere is unpleasant, there is a lot of jealousy and the competition is not honest because everybody wants to be the best even if they have to humiliate a team-mate,” Kakuta told Air Futbol.

The report adds that Kakuta, who feels all alone in the dressing room, has just one friend in the youth squad, Chilean Franco Di Santo, who signed this season.

The promising teenager declared that he is a fan of Emmanuel Adebayor and that playing alongside the Togolese would be amazing for him.

Well, what did I say? They are actively trying to poach our finest young talent. The club that always does things the right way. My arse.

The link doesn't work anymore and I couldn't find any story about that from the Setanta Sports Chelsea news page. And that URL is missing the www part which is supposed to be in the Setanta Sports' URL.

Weird. 300.gif

Could that article be a hoax like the one that was posted about here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7349&hilit=kakuta

The link that abramovich provided doesn't work anymore and there isn't any story about Kakuta on the Setanta Sports site. At least I couldn't find one.

The start of the URL until the date for the Kakuta story is

http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/05/09/

And as an example, the URL for a randomly selected Chelsea story on the Setanta site goes like this:

http://www.setantasports.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/05/06/

The real one is www.setantasports.com, but the URL for the Kakuta story is sport.setanta.com

Apparently some is having fun making wind up articles. The URLs look close enough to the real thing, so people arebound to be fooled. When the link didn't work, I remembered the earlier wind up. Both fake articles were probably done by the same person, or group of people. The fake Sky Sports article was written in terrible English and although the fake Setanta article doesn't do the same mistake, there is at least one mistake in it that I noticed: Arnesen is referred to as "technical director", but his official title on the official site is "Chief Scout and Director of Youth Development". Maybe that's a mistake a sloppy journalist might have made, though.

Maybe some French kids/Arsenal fans are just messing around. 317.gif

Just saw it on the official site that France U-17's has progressed to the semi finals of the U-17's European Championships against. Apparently UEFA's site has a live stream of the games and in UK it's on Eurosport. The semi finals are on Tuesday.

I haven't seen anything from the U-17's European Championships, so I'm not sure if Kakuta has been the captain, but I think he at least used to be the U-17's captain. Go Gaël! happy0034.gif
