BLUENUT
Watched most of the game on SKY yesterday. Spent most of the 90 mintues asking why we sold Robben , he ran the game. Van Der Vaart based on this display was annoymous. It's the first game I've watched him in and tried to keep an eye out for him, but Arjen stole the show! Robben was involved in almost everything and scored after picking the ball up on the halfway line running through the Welsh defence and slotting past the keeper. Even with Wales doubling up on him, they couldn't contain him. They have become my tip for the Euro's with Schneider looking good too. If Vander Vaart is half the player people say he is, this is a side to watch out for with Van-Horse-face spearheading the attack.
Valerie
Didn't see the match, but the Dutch papers are all raving about Robben, but also noting his occasional selfishness near goal. Don't worry Bluenut, it probably won't last, an injury is just around the corner, and you'll remember again
andy
I saw it, pretty good, wouldn’t say his best but he just so quick at times. I think he is the best player in the world if he is fit and everything clicks.. I have seen players at the Bridge who have had me on the edge of my seat (Zola, J Cole, Drogba, Dixon, Nevin) but not many that I have turned to the bloke next to me in disbelief, on more than one occasion. Not only has he so quick, he has such brilliant control… if only he had the passion of the guys above. .... Shall I do the Dutch Caps joke ? andy
.... Shall I do the Dutch Caps joke ? As I have no idea what the Dutch Caps joke is: yes please! Okay I don’t have a Dutch cap joke off the top of my head... but there must be one. Incidentally no offence to the Dutch (in fact I see it as a complement).. in contemprary language to put the word Dutch in front of any English word you have a new hilarious phrase. Alan
That's the thing with Robben, he can be amazing on his day but he's just far too injury prone and doesn't have much of a stomach for a fight. Pity, because I thought he'd be the new Zola when he first started playing in the league.
