Terrible news. Personally I find it hard to imagine music without Stax Records and Hayes was one of the driving forces behind it. His version of Walk on By on 'Hot Buttered Soul' is stunning. Sadly missed.

I've been into Isaac Hayes' music for as long as I can remember, longer in fact - don't forget all those Isaac Hayes/David Porter classics written for Sam & Dave years before Hot Buttered Soul was released. And in his own name, the classic albums just kept on coming: Hot Buttered Soul, Isaac Hayes Movement, To Be Continued, Shaft, Black Moses, the list goes on. A true musical genius if ever there was one. Very sad, and only 65. However, I can add with confidence that Isaac Hayes lived a very, very full life.

R.I.P.
