Could have been a prototype for Primark.

I loved that shop, it was like a bazaar, much better than the sanatised megastore.

Chelsea players you've met
I used to live round the corner from Harrow Boro when QPR used to play some reserve and youth team games there on a Tuesday night. My in-laws are all QPR so used to go round and watch them, was often some top players coming back from injury, saw Tony Adams and others, was a good excuse to get out for a few beers. Ray Wilkins was Rangers manager or player at the time, we were in the bar after a game and he came up to our table and said 'Thanks for the support boys, let me buy you a drink'. I replied that I wasn't Rangers I was Chelsea and he said 'in that case let me buy you two drinks!' Top bloke.

I was at that Friday night game at Barnsley, it was the coldest I have ever been at a game. We went by car, didn't the train break down?

I've read that Jake Arnott book, as you say it is very good. His first three books ( including this one) are brilliant, laced with real life stories. Recommended for sure.

What period was our mob at its peak
Not someone who was active, but was at most of the games when it went off big time and was inadvertently involved sometimes. Both those Millwall games Chelsea were hugely impressive, but there are other one offs that were similar. Sunderland in the Milk Cup, home and away and by all accounts at Parsons Green, Tottenham in 1978 I was at Seven Sisters and we did really well, and Upton Park in 1981 which rarely gets mentioned. Had to get stuck in that day and Chelsea did really well in the South Bank, spoke to a West Ham bloke I worked with and they were shocked. But to answer your question I agree with you, mid 90's was the peak.

Areas you see a lot of Chelsea fans
The Black Bull in Ruislip Manor was proper Chelsea as well

Areas you see a lot of Chelsea fans
I lived right by the Eastcote Arms for years and you right, I used to drink at Harrow Boro and that was also Chelsea. Loads of QPR in Northolt and South Ruislip, they moved out from White City and the Bush in the 70's and 80's, my wife's family included.

Areas you see a lot of Chelsea fans
As well as Harrow there were loads of Chelsea in Wembley and Kingsbury, The Preston was a good Chelsea pub with a few Gooners and a couple of y*ds. I remember an FA Cup at Harrow Borough against Newport when it went off alarming, loads injured in the main bar. It was local Chelsea and West Ham, who had a following in Rayners Lane.

Wondering if his appointment means that Cech is going and talking Lillichon with him.- Lamps to city
Exactly. No-one is trying to rewrite history and I have constantly said how fantastic he was for us, but the most recent history is that he has joined one of our main rivals through the back door. If that is fine with you then great but it doesn't sit comfortably with me.- Lamps to city
How is that slagging him off for getting £150k a week? All I said is that for that money so he should give everything, am I wrong?- Lamps to city
I only wish I could afford Exec club tickets, my brothers company have three and he was offered them for that game. I don't know what you people actually read, I have said repeatedly I don't care how much he was paid, what I care about is how he has joined City through the back door. West Ham fans because of the things he said when he left, as far as I am concerned he has spent the last couple of years telling us how much we mean to him, then joins a major rival with a sneaky deal which he hopes keeps us onside. I'll never forget what a brilliant player he was for us but I'm sorry this doesn't sit well with me.- Lamps to city
Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhh! Doesn't anyone understand what I'm saying? I would never try to detract from what he achieved, his desire to improve as a player and the fact that as you say, he couldn't have done any more. But he didn't do it on a voluntary basis, the same way that we get paid for the work we do, he got paid for his time and talent. Do you consider yourselves as servants to the companies you work for?- Lamps to city
Not really. Is everybody happy with the way he has joined City?- Lamps to city
Nothing wrong with me, I was asked who my heroes are and I replied. As for Lampard his behaviour was not exemplary in the early days, not that it bothers me, and DKW I have already said I couldn't care less how much he was paid, just that he didn't serve us. He was a fantastic player for us, as I have stated several times on here, but there is a saying never meet your heroes. He has joined a main rival through the back door, it now transpires that City are paying his wages in full while he is there. In fact it seems he has joined City and is going to NYC on loan, not the other way round. The sneaky way he has joined City does not sit well with me, sorry if you all disagree but hey ho.- Lamps to city
This is one of my heroes, hard as nails and last heard if working as a black cab driver: http://www.sporting-heroes.net/football/chelsea-fc/john-bumstead-7622/biography-of-his-football-career-at-chelsea_a11109/- Lamps to city
I've already said I like him, his attitude was fantastic etc etc All I'm saying us he didn't serve us, he traded his talent for money, same as we all do in our various jobs. And I don't begrudge him the money either, I've never said that I do. I just can't stand all the I'll never play for another PL team bollocks, and people are slowly learning that he is loyal to himself and no-one else. I don't care that he is playing for City, just the way he has gone about it, seems to have worked for him as well. Sorry to say it but the sycophantic attitude displayed by Chelsea fans is sad to see, like someone posted the club and fans are bigger than any one individual.- Lamps to city
I wouldn't argue with any of that, but he gave his talent and fantastic attitude for an astronomical salary. He didn't 'serve' us at all.- Lamps to city
I should have said Ron Harris as well.- Lamps to city
Forced out by Sexton. I can't stand all this Lampard served us well crap, how much did he earn? I like him, I really do, but he didn't serve us at all, he was fantastically well paid. - Hooroo Henrique
