  1. We need to stop sending so many players out on loan and get them training with the first team squad on a daily basis. McEachran for one was ruined on loan and Chalobah is in danger of going the same way, they need to train with top players to see how they do it and also to play with them to improve. When you consider that we now have seven substitutes each game surely a place can be saved for a young player, with a view to giving him game time if the match is in the bag. Bamford would be a good example of this next season, though I concede he has done well on loan. Hudson and Osgood were in the first team at 17, if they were here now they would be at Blackburn or some other god forsaken place. If you think I am wrong consider that Barkley did not shine at Wednesday and Warnock never even picked him at Leeds.
  2. We need to promote Baker to the first team squad.
  3. He just reminds me of Messi in his movement, he looks the real deal. Mind you, Solanke reminds me of a young Osgood with his movement and Christenson reminds me of Marvin Hinton! Think I need the nurse now!
  4. Patrick Roberts. Sounds way over the top and I'm nearly sixty so I am not some excitable kid, but that boy reminds me of Messi!
  5. Arsenal away in 1984 was one of the best turnouts ever, estimated at 20,000 Chelsea
  6. I was just turned 23, one of the best days we had in London. Spurs were annihilated and never really got the upper hand with us ever again, though I'm not really up with what has occurred the last few years.
  7. Wasn't that the Ifield day?
  8. Third left looks like Alan Hudson!
  9. I remember that game, they were all round the ground, there was fighting in the East Stand where I was sitting
  10. Slashed neck at Millwall sounds particularly nasty, what year was that?
  11. Man Utd definitely around 1968, just sheer numbers. I was in the old East Stand enclosure with my Dad, there was a skirmish but the few Chelsea still in the Shed put up a bit of a fight. The bulk of Chelsea were under the old North Stand, loved that song they used to sing to Keith West's Excerpt From A Teenage Opera, was it Grocer Jack?
  12. Thinking about it definitely not Cambridge. Maybe Luton?
  13. No idea if he was Chelsea but it was his manor and he was king of it. Think it was 1982
  14. It was the Adelaide for me, was in there when Spurs attacked the Imperial. Everyone piled out the side door, out the back of the Imperial and from the Wheatsheaf, they didn't last long but still go on about it now. Next home game John Bindon was in the Adelaide, word was he would have steamed into the y*ds if he had been there that day. Imagine a mob of Chelsea led by John Bindon!
  15. Chelsea had a big firm at West Ham in 1981, apparently there were just as many locked out as well though I don't know if that's true.
  16. We're the boys in Royal blue, took the Northbank Molineux Heard a couple of songs Everton sang, To Gerrard when he was on trial ' Shagged in the showers, you're getting shagged in the showers' Also when Rooney had been caught out shagging again Utd were due to play at Everton next game and they were planning to sing No Woman No Kai, but he didn't play. A couple from the West Ham game in 1981, What's it like to run at home, which I didn't think we would ever sing there. Towards the end the public announcer came on said special trains would take Chelsea fans out of the area and would not be stopping in the local area. A group of older blokes near me started singing: We're the boys Got no brains We'll smash up your special trains Not a song as such but I remember loads of away games when a very long 'whoa' would go on for ages, interspersed with Chelsea, Chelsea then back to whoa again, would go on for 20 minutes or so and often preceded major disorder
  17. I lived right by the Century, about 200 yards away. The Arsenal lads from the Preston were Steve A, who got stabbed at Luton one year, Bill A, Steve C and Aiden. Pleased to know they are still about, some of the Chelsea lads drank in the Surrey Arms with them, right little firm when they were together. That Grimsby game my third daughter was due that day and I decided not to go, but I was pacing around the house all morning and the missus told me to go to Grimsby if there was time. Phoned my brother, picked him up and made it just in time, great day. Went there a couple of times, seem to recall Chelsea in their end the first time I went and some poor sod took a proper right hander that knocked him down the terrace, our end all winced at the same time.
  18. Dazza, an old mate of mine played for Orient for years though not sure if he was still there in 1982, Bob Fisher?
  19. Chelsea 0 Notts County 2 Very rare unseen footage, also shows the fans demo,. http://www.itnsource...ty 2 &st=0&pn=1 I got nicked for drunk and disorderly at this game, got fined a tenner! Not one to get involved by any stretch of the imagination, went more for a laugh than anything, but of course trouble found you on occasions. I remember having to get proper stuck in on the South Bank at West Ham in 81 and fighting our way out of the New Derby at Sunderland. I'm from Wembley and used to drink in The Preston with loads of Chelsea, some proper Gooners and a few y*ds. Used to drink in The Adelaide before games and went home from 1963 onwards (with my Dad) and then with my mates from 78 home and away. I was a reasonable player and used to play most Saturdays until 78, though went to all the games I could, including the pitch invasion at Luton in 74? Have a good memory and loads of stories but more to do with a good day out than major fighting.
