Evening guys - I hope I'm not t(h)reading on anyones toes here but I thought it could be a good idea to have a general away day thread where people can discuss anything from tickets, itinerary, where to meet up for a drink etc. IF we get to Lisbon then I think it could be particularly helpful as its looking like being a fairly expensive trip already.

Yep good idea. Only Liverpool and Cardiff away left in the league plus a hopeful trip to Lisbon!

We've sold out every away game domestically this season. Class support as always and certainly one of the best away supports in the land.

Been away 6 times this year in the league and went to Madrid. Our away support is brilliant. Nice that the club recognise this and decided to subsidise the away tickets for the last few.

Had a quick look at deals for Lisbon, only quickly, didn't want to jinx anything, but the results were £2,000 each, for flights and just one night!

Always enjoy away games more though, thread was needed.

I personally feel away support has been so-so this year. Done about half of them

Stand outs include Arsenal in the league cup (might be best I've ever done) , Fulham away was pretty good , and Derby in the FA.

Hull was pretty poor, as was city in the cup which was surprising as we had 6000

If it comes to it, Lisbon will be pricey. Would be better to fly to Porto and get the train.

Did both of them and would agree they were both top days.

Arsenal just due to the fact it was 9000 Chels absolutely taking the piss in Arsenals manor in a way I just can't imagine them ever doing to us and Fulham just because their ground is fun and it was a sunny day and we battered them, lol.

Who is going to Anfield then? I heard George Groves will be there Sunday.

Up for meeting for a beer is anyone is going, I never do the Shed End piss ups but would be good to meet for a beer up there.

I missed the Arsenal Capital One Cup game, quite annoyed actually because everyone was saying it was awesome and sounded that way on tv! Was cheap as well. Was there for Fulham though which was cracking and had a fantastic curry followed by a night out as well afterwards in Clapham.

The Arsenal game was something else to be honest.

Away fans always take the piss but there was litterally Chelsea everywhere you looked and walking from the station to the ground (and returning after the game) you would have thought we were the only set of fans there. It continued all the way back to central on the underground as well, the most one sided bit of football banter ever experianced, it actually felt like there was more than 9000 in all honesty.

I am amazed we got granted that allocation for a London derby and bet it won't happen again in a hurry.

Arsenal fans are atrocious when it comes to banter so that doesn't surprise me. I saw lots of things on Twitter about us taking over Finsbury Park etc on the night. As you say, 9000 is an enormous allocation. Capital One Cup games tend to give greater allocations to away fans, I don't really get why.

I echo everyone's sentiments about the Arsenal match - probably my best away day to date.

Great idea for a thread. There's obviously loads of people on here who go to the away games - we should definitely use it to co-ordinate some away days next season.

I think it was one of the few games when I looked round and the majority seemed to be 16-30 year olds.  Shows what happens when you put on cheap tickets

It's been said a million times, but we do have an insanely high average age attendance at home and away games. You're exactly right; cheaper tickets = livelier crowd + improved atmosphere.

I've never been to an away game. I wanted to go to a few this season, Fulham especially, but never got around to it. But I definitely will next season, no question about it.

Which grounds/teams are the best to go to? Cheapest/best atmosphere? If Fulham stay up I will go to that one, with it being close so no extra transport costs. Hopefully either Spurs/Arsenal too, as well as one of the Manchester/Merseyside clubs plus any others. Any advice?

I've looked as well, for a fair while, looking for deals - just in case like. Hotels are outrageous right now. You can get 4+ Bedroom villas 15 odd Kilometers out of the city centre for £600 to £800 for 5 days. If we get there, if might be worth trying to get a few together to share the cost, go for a few days and enjoy the sun. The flights are more reasonable too, plus it's a bank holiday on the Monday.

I'm going up on the club coaches, if we get there in good time, might pop into Arkles for a swift one or two.

I've been twice this season, Swindon away (saw van ginkel's injury in the flesh!!!) and west brom away. Been quite a few times the last few seasons. Love the pre match concourse singalong and beer throwing contests! :-)

Fulham is generally a good laugh. Been there the last two seasons, both 3-0 victories but sadly the Fulham fans don't seem to know what a chant is so it's quite one-sided. Spurs away is awesome, this is the one we are up for the most. West Ham away is good. Not been to Arsenal (yet). It can get quite fractious at Villa actually.

In terms of prices, we get charged about £40-£50 by pretty much every club. Of course the further you travel the more it will cost. Trains are absolutely extortionate these days. Best is to get a lift if at all possible, but of course it's more fun to be on the train.

I've seen a lot of chat on Twitter already concerning Lisbon and it seems like the most affordable option right now is to fly to Porto and to get a train. Can't remember how much the prices are but it's a fraction of what going to Lisbon would be.

Who was at Anfield yesterday? Did you see the fight that happened outside the ground? Daily Mail claim that a Chelsea fan spat on the Hillsborough memorial yet it's nowhere near where the picture was taken...

I'd say that West Ham is good to do as it will be our last time at Upton Park. Villa is normally a decent day out. Leicester/Burnley will be good as will Palace.

However Palace/West Ham and Spurs/Arsenal/Fulham/City/United/Liverpool will all be on points next season so it'll be tough to get tickets unless you really do most away games etc.
