I agree, at one point the team virtually managed itself with the likes of Terry, Lampard and Drogba as senior players. I'm thinking of when Grant took over, Steve Clarke guided the players through to the end if the season but those players almost did not need a manager. Incidentally, I would love to see Clarke come back. We only really have JT left, think Cahill can step up but I also think the next generation is right behind the first team and will step up to take over in the next couple of years.

Agree about Baker, I said he needs to be phased in. Wilshere and Gibbs are doing well at Arsenal though both are injury prone. We'll never know how good the likes of Mancienne and McEachran would have been given a proper run with better players, and that's the point. Give them a try and see, if they don't live up to potential like Sinclair then fair enough, but the two I mentioned deserved a proper chance and didn't get it. I don't want to see that happen with the likes of Baker, Swift and Colkett.

Think that is totally the wrong attitude, we have one of the best academies in Europe and might just as well close it down then. Give them a chance, phase them in gradually and within we four years we will be the dominant force in Europe.

I promise you I wouldn't be, players learn from mistakes, particularly young ones. We have to replace Lampard and instead of spending a fortune trying to do so we should phase Baker in and give him a chance, he seems a similar player to me.

Personally I wish he had never come back. Our brilliant young players will never get a chance, we will just watch on enviously as they perform brilliantly for other teams while we sign the likes Eto'o and 6ft+ athletes who can run all day but can't pass a football. And watch Ramires.

No more Eto'o or rubbish like him. New signing, Lukaku and Bamford. We will never know how good these youngsters will be until we play them with better players, rather than leave them to stall in Swansea reserves etc. If Osgood was coming through at Chelsea now we would ship him out to MK Dons without giving him a chance. They do I agree, but only where they improve the squad and not just for the sake of it. However a lot of fans don't remember the excitement of bringing through your own players, Terry was our last. There was a time when genuine top class kids got a chance, but not any more and that desperately needs to change. Chelsea are set for the next ten years if they just have the bollocks to do it.

Bored f**king rigid with all these rumours. Part of me hopes Roman pulls up the drawbridge and says no more money, which given the Ukraine situation isn't entirely out of the question. Then we could raise some money by selling a few such as Luiz, buy the world class striker we really need then not sign another player for ten years. I agree with you to some extent, particularly Bertrand. Must have been a kick in the teeth when Jose played Azpi at left back and loaned him out, though of course Azpi has been a revelation. I genuinely think all we need is a world class striker, with Lukaku and Bamford as back up. The rest we are covered everywhere, we could even afford to let a couple of players go such as Luiz and Mikel and still have a good enough squad to win it. I'll go as far to say that within four years we will have a team of largely homegrown an Chelsea trained players that will conquer all before them. One thing with Jose is he likes to build his team in his style and with his principles, surely it is easier to do that by bringing young players through and moulding them as you do so. I get your point re FPP and I am surprised more people don't see what we are doing, but my concern isn't the likes of Moses and Marin being sold at a profit, but stifling the talents of Baker, Swift, Colkett etc by constantly buying cheap rubbish.

All of this speculation is immaterial as long as Jose is our manager. He would rather sign Eto'o than risk Lukaku, rather sign Paulinho than give Chalobah or Ake a chance. We will criminally waste the talents of Baker, who looks every inch the new Lampard, as long as Mourinho is in charge. Hopefully the powers that be will have learnt a lesson from the Matic fiasco and insist the millions they have spent on the Academy does not go to waste, if so they will be on a collision path with Mourinho and another power struggle will develop.

Ravel Morrison is as good as any English player out there, including Barkley. Obviously he is a nutter but might be a challenge worth taking on.
