New squad limitation and player registration rules
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32024808 Something dear to many posters' hearts. Seems like these changes will make a genuine attempt to give more chances to home grown players. They are intending to bring the definition of "Home Grown" as close to "British" as possible. - The age to become home grown to be reduced from 21 to 18 years. - Increase in home grown players requirement from 8 to 12 by the year 2020. - Further limiting work permits for non-EU players. What do the folk on here think of the proposal edit: thread probably needs to move to general football sub-forum.

Corners
Regardless of the stats the set pieces taking is poor. We are very poor at all forms of set pieces. We have lost all oue set piece experts over the last one year - Mata, Lampard, Luiz, Cole and even De Bruyne and Schurrle. I even started a thread about this at the begining of the season, was sh*t scared of the day when we went to a shootout, luckily it never happened. Clearly something Jose needs to either work on with the team or bring someone in with these skills

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
Or this could be construed to mean their team is so sh*te that they have no chance without crowd support and we will turn them over. It is difficult to know why Jose says what he says, plus it got the atmosphere debate going. Its a lot better than the dippers where both the club and supporters are constantly blowing up smoke each others arse.

Patrick Bamford - Back at Chelsea?
if boro get promoted, it would be good for him to get a PL loan with them. He now has a relationship with the staff, players and manager there. If the above does not happen he should be in our team as Costa's backup. We should move Remy on to give Bamford a chance.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duAWttfV7vM From 13:00 min mark. Jose clearly mentions that next year squad will be arranged in such a way that RLC gets time. I would say it again, he is never that explicit with something that he is not going to do.
-
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
For a start we wouldnt "not have won the league for 5 years". Jose wouldnt have had a trophy drought for 3 years. It will be different and RLC will be one year wiser/stronger. He is never so vocal about something he is not going to do.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Josh had a big hype around him when he made his debut but I think Josh, Bruma, Tore and Sala never had the required amount of talent. This was further compounded by there being no support and managerial merry go round. In today's scenario of FFP constrainst and the stability that Jose will bring, the youngsters have a perfect chance to break through. Plus the quality and attitude of some of these lads is just unbelieveable. You are right with the fact that we will always be chasing the PL and CL and the presure will always be there on Jose but that should hopefully reduce the importance of the league and FA cups enough to play yough teams in those competitions all through.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Christensen is seems really gifted. I see him as being in the Carvalho mould though. Needs to add some physicality to his game. Alghough he has spent 3 years in the youth system, it wouldnt be the same feel with him as he is not going to play for England and he was brought in on big money. Very different feel from someone who joins the club before the age of 12 and come through.

Chelsea Team 2017 - The era of the new legends.
Very interesting. I picture this in my head everytime I go to a youth game. So working with the following ground rules. 1) As PL stipulates 8 assoc trained players. 2) 4 of them club trained for CL 3) Atleast 8 players from england setup. 4) No more than 3 players who could go to African cup (Possibly no more than 1 from first 11) Heres the team I would love to have Goal: Courtois, Cech, Blackman Fullbacks: Azpi, Branco, Ake, Dasilva Centre backs: Varane, Zouma, Christensen, Omeruo Centeral mid: Matic, Cesc, Pogba, RLC, Colkett Attacking mids: Baker, Oscar Wingers: Hazard, Cuadrado, Boga, Palmer Centre forwards: Costa, Bamford, Solanke, Brown To get to this squad we need to ship out Ramires, Willian, Luis, Mikel, Remy, Cahill. Only need to bring in Pogba and Varane over the next two years.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Sorry, I meant Baker all along not Brown. My bad its been a long day. I would love a centre 3 of Colkett-RLC-Baker someday, both for Chelsea and the NT. Not just English but London lads aswell. Yes, I am one of the rare few who still cares about the NT as well. You are being rather pessimistic on this. I genuinely feel tha RLC can have a future even if we buy Pogba. And that was what I was criticising the article for. those two things are not mutually exclusive. The quality of youth in our ranks fills me with optimism, maybe I am being foolish here but I think one day the likes of Solanke, Baker, Boga and RLC can Take over first team spots from Costa, Oscar, Hazard and Matic.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek
I dont know what makes you think otherwise but I am an English Chelsea supporter as well. I want a midfield 3 of of RLC, Colkett and Brown in 5 years time as our mainstay as well. But we need to have a balanced approach towards youth rather than going all cowboy about it. And no. Buying Pogba is not chickening out. You need to be realistic about youth integration here. We dont really want to be like arsenal here. RLC can realistically get 10-15 games in the 4 CM combination (of Matic, Cesc, Pogba and RLC) which would give him better than not chance of making it to the first team as a regular in two seasons. But thursting so much presuer on a 19yo that he is the be all end all is Matic is injured will be foolish and Jose will never put himself in that situation.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Pogba was more experienced. He kind of had his first season at United (okay 7 games instead of 10) and went to Juve which are in a less competitive league than United. So he got 37 games in total (instead of the ballpark 25 i mention). It only serves to support my argument rather than against it. Oscar does not come into the equation really. We need atleast 4 deep mid fielders in the squad. I dont see why that can not be Matic, Cesc, Pogba and RLC. Why does there have to be a choice. And to comitting £75m over 5 years. Its a risk-reward thing. Great things happen to those who take great calculated risks. I see this situation as being very similar to that of Hazard's in 2012. We made a commitment of £80m over 5 years and look how it has turned out. Chickening out of risks is never a good thing.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Its not silly at all. It would be much the same way JT did it for us and everyone from Messi to Harry Kane have done over the last decade. Ist season in the senior team make about 10 appearances, 2nd season make about 20-25 appearances. Third season become a first team regular. I am not in favour sending special talents like RLC and Baker out on loan. We should look to make room in the squad for such gifted youngsters and give them 2-3 years to break into the first 11. However in this case both things (buying Pogba and giving a shot to RLC) can happen at the same time. Its a poor article because it presents this as a choice between the two options.
-
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Poor argument for not going after Pogba. RLC needs atleast 2 years till he will be Chelsea first team level. A club like us can not give up on competing for trophies for 2 seasons just to blood in a youngster and possibly put him under undue presuer in process.

Chelsea to sign £40m-a-year Yokohama Rubber shirt sponsorship deal
We first signed with Adidas in 2006 for 8 years and renewed that deal in 2010. The second deal started in 2010 was till 2018 and we again renegotiated in 2013. What is to say that we wont get bumped up in another couple of years. I think gourlay left because he was not able to arrange a good deal to replace samsung.

The Race for Fourth Place (2014-15)
They will fail the FFP. It wont matter though, as they wont be in europe next season. The will not make top 6 in the league. Europa league has teams like PSV, Roma, Sevilla, Bilbao and Woldsburg. Any of these teams will chew up the dippers and sh*t them out into the bins they forage for their food.

Chelsea V Everton Questionnaire for Love Everton Forum
1. How happy were you with the transfer window and are you stronger as a result of it? - Content. Increased competition for RW spot. Shame that Schurrle had to leave to fund the new buy. 2. Which area do you believe needs strengthening the most if any? - CM, Backup for Fabregas, Matic 3. Many believe you're clear favourites for the title do you share their sentiments? - Yes, Only concerns is that this squad does not have experience of a close title run in at high level which City have plenty of. (apart from JT, Costa, Drogba and Branco and the keepers) 4. Favourite game Chelsea have played in so far this season? - Everton away, Stoke away 5. Do you think Lukaku will turn out to be a good bit of business for us or did Mourhino see us coming? - Will get you good profit in long term. Poor buy for short term success. I am happy he was sold. 6. Will we there be repeat of the 6-3 'basketball' game we saw in August or a much tighter affair? - No chance of us conceding so many goals at home at this point in the season. 7. What do you think has gone wrong this season for Everton? - Europa league group stages are a poison chalice 8. Do you rate any of Everton's players, if so which one(s)? - Coleman and Baines are top class. Some others - Lukaku, Besic, Barkley, Stones have good potential. 9. What are your chances of winning the Champions League? - Depends upon the draw and luck in during the tie. I see only real madrid being clear favourites against us. I would consider us on evens if drawn against Athletico, bayern or Barca. 10. Predictions for the game against us this Wednesday? - A 2-0 or 3-1 home win.

Who should replace Didier?
Icardi as 2nd choice and Remy as 3rd choice. Would like to see Bamford stay with borogh if they get promoted or another PL loan. If it was up to me, I would try to ship Remy out after next season aswell. He is a good player but not one who could terrorise defenders like Costa. Both Solanke and Tammy Abraham have a good few years before they get anywhere near the first team. Would much rather see them do well in 2 full seasons of loans. One at championship level and one in a lower to mid table PL club.

Diego Costa to Chelsea
Aim for the nuts next time.

Diego Costa to Chelsea
You do it once you can walk away, twice it the problem here. I think Costa is a bit unlucky as well. To me it seems like the first one was intentional and second one was not. Think from his reaction he also realised that but couldnt avoid the second one as it happened at some pace. The good thing however it that We are at home to city, villa and everton are sh*t this season and most of all Remy is no mug. 7 points from the next 3 games for us and then we sit back and watch Stoke maul man city.
-
Lukaku to Everton
Cavani would be the worst purchase at this point in time. In the last 4 months all that he has done of note is miss open goal in pretty huge matches. We need some one rather low key here who can play and score from the deep. Some one like Pedro of Barcelona or the likes.
-
Lukaku to Everton
So you felt the need to compete.
-
Lukaku to Everton
The problem is that his contract was running down and we know Everton don't have money. If there were other parties in for him he would go for good money like Mata or Luiz.
-
Video - Drogba set for Return
Now Lukaku can have a good close look at what a "COMPLETE STRIKER" looks like.
-
Lukaku to the dippers
Better not be in our team if he is the next slippie g. We will take the assists from outside though
