1. Pretty happy, Cuadrado will be an upgrade on Willian but Schurrle was a popular figure and it's a shame to see him go.

2. Not really any at the moment.

3. We're obviously favourites but anything can happen, bigger leads have been closed down before.

4. Everton 3-6 Chelsea haha.

5. I think Lukaku could be good for you, but its also good business for Chelsea as he was behind Diego Costa and £28m is a hell of a lot. But Lukaku is still very young and could still become a top striker.

6. Probably a much tighter game like the one we saw at Stamford Bridge last season.

7. Not sure, it's a shame that you aren't doing well as I'd always prefer you to get a top 4 place over Arsenal or Spurs. I guess you'd have to say a dodgy defence.

8. Stones and Barkley have the potential to be top players. You'll do well to keep both of them into their prime.

9. Unlikely but it's possible. I'd say we're probably about 3rd or 4th favourite.

10. It'll be difficult with Fabregas and Costa but I reckon we'll edge it. 2-1 to us, after you score first.

1. How happy were you with the transfer window and are you stronger as a result of it?

It was decent enough but I still think we could do with a utility player like Geremi used to be

2. Which area do you believe needs strengthening the most if any?

In the Summer we need a new CB and possibly a striker

3. Many believe you're clear favourites for the title do you share their sentiments?

In some ways, we definitely have the hunger that's for sure

4. Favourite game Chelsea have played in so far this season?

I actually really enjoyed the 1-0 against Liverpool last week. Phenomenal game!

5. Do you think Lukaku will turn out to be a good bit of business for us or did Mourhino see us coming?

I honestly don't think he's all that but he will always score goals. I'm glad we sold him to you.

6. Will we there be repeat of the 6-3 'basketball' game we saw in August or a much tighter affair?

No much tighter

7. What do you think has gone wrong this season for Everton?

Martinez had to use the funds to buy what was basically the same team as last season plus Baines, Distin & Jagielka been another year older.

8. Do you rate any of Everton's players, if so which one(s)?

Barkley and Coleman are two players with very bright futures

9. What are your chances of winning the Champions League?

I don't think we will, see us getting to quarters/semis. I feel we lack just that little bit enough on depth to do it. The priority is the league title in my opinion anyway.

10. Predictions for the game against us this Wednesday?

Chelsea 2 Everton 0

1. Our transfer policy has been rightly ridiculed over the years, but now we are sensible, and financially focused, yet still do tremendous business. If Cuadrado gives William competition it can only be good.

2. A second world class forward.

3. Favourites probably but until we have that trophy I'm staying cautious but optimistic.

4. Burnley away. New season new players big hope.

5. He has the potential to be huge for you, a big gamble for the money, but who else is out there ?

6. Not a chance, that was a freak game.

7. Mcarthys injury, Gareth Barry losing his legs (he will tear us apart now I've said that) injuries to Osman Pienaar haven't helped either.

8. Barkley, Coleman, Mcarthy and Romelu.

9. As anyone needs, luck is required, alongside an amazing team. It might not be our year this time, but who knows.

10. Honestly just want 3 points, you guys are well able to put it up to any team.

1. How happy were you with the transfer window and are you stronger as a result of it?

Very happy hope he is successful here.

2. Which area do you believe needs strengthening the most if any?

With our talent in the academies & on loan we will be ok for a little while.

3. Many believe you're clear favourites for the title do you share their sentiments?

I share there sentiment, hopeully it bears fruit.

4. Favourite game Chelsea have played in so far this season?

Swansea & Everton away, any time Jose removes the reigns I rejoice.

5. Do you think Lukaku will turn out to be a good bit of business for us or did Mourhino see us coming?

He sucked you in & you never felt your pockets picked.  :laugh2:

6. Will we there be repeat of the 6-3 'basketball' game we saw in August or a much tighter affair?

No chance that was a once or twice a season game.

7. What do you think has gone wrong this season for Everton?

Martinez is not a defensive coach.

8. Do you rate any of Everton's players, if so which one(s)?

Like Stones & Barkley

9. What are your chances of winning the Champions League?

I do not think we have much chance, but you never know.

10. Predictions for the game against us this Wednesday?

2 - 0  Hazard & Remy

1. How happy were you with the transfer window and are you stronger as a result of it?

We we already real strong. The strongest we have ever been, I believe. So didn't need much improvement.

2. Which area do you believe needs strengthening the most if any?

A forward to step in for Costa.

3. Many believe you're clear favourites for the title do you share their sentiments?

From the start of the season I believed it was ours to lose, and for the first time in a long time I would be really disappointed if we didn't bring it home.

4. Favourite game Chelsea have played in so far this season?

You lot.

5. Do you think Lukaku will turn out to be a good bit of business for us or did Mourhino see us coming?

Lukaku is a great player, and I believe he will be of great service to you, but I never believed he was Chelsea caliber, honestly.

6. Will we there be repeat of the 6-3 'basketball' game we saw in August or a much tighter affair?

Less goals, tight game.

7. What do you think has gone wrong this season for Everton?

Nothing. Just have to be patient. Martinez is better than Moyes!

8. Do you rate any of Everton's players, if so which one(s)?

Baines, Lukaku, Mirallas, and Besic (last one being personal to me  , but I honestly believe you have yourselves a warrior in him).

9. What are your chances of winning the Champions League?

I believe we are in the top four teams in Europe at the moment. As far as winning it, the stars have to align most times.

10. Predictions for the game against us this Wednesday?

We win by a goal.

1. How happy were you with the transfer window and are you stronger as a result of it?
 - Content. Increased competition for RW spot. Shame that Schurrle had to leave to fund the new buy.

2. Which area do you believe needs strengthening the most if any?
 - CM, Backup for Fabregas, Matic

3. Many believe you're clear favourites for the title do you share their sentiments?
 - Yes, Only concerns is that this squad does not have experience of a close title run in at high level which City have plenty of. (apart from JT, Costa, Drogba and Branco and the keepers)

4. Favourite game Chelsea have played in so far this season?
 - Everton away, Stoke away

5. Do you think Lukaku will turn out to be a good bit of business for us or did Mourhino see us coming?
 - Will get you good profit in long term. Poor buy for short term success. I am happy he was sold.

6. Will we there be repeat of the 6-3 'basketball' game we saw in August or a much tighter affair?

 - No chance of us conceding so many goals at home at this point in the season.

7. What do you think has gone wrong this season for Everton?
 - Europa league group stages are a poison chalice

8. Do you rate any of Everton's players, if so which one(s)?

 - Coleman and Baines are top class. Some others - Lukaku, Besic, Barkley, Stones have good potential.

9. What are your chances of winning the Champions League?

 - Depends upon the draw and luck in during the tie. I see only real madrid being clear favourites against us. I would consider us on evens if drawn against Athletico, bayern or Barca.

10. Predictions for the game against us this Wednesday?

 - A 2-0 or 3-1 home win.

Edited by Indigo_Blue

1. How happy were you with the transfer window and are you stronger as a result of it?

Very happy with it. We haven't had a genuine right winger, or a genuine winger for that matter in a long while, so I'm very excited to see what Cuadrado can give us. Schurrle, I did not rate very highly personally, so yes, I think we are stronger as a result.

2. Which area do you believe needs strengthening the most if any?

Strength in depth. Our starting XI is the best in the league, but we could do with better cover, especially for Fabregas.

3. Many believe you're clear favourites for the title do you share their sentiments?

Yes. I do think we can be better, but I don't think any of our rivals are good enough to beat us this season.

4. Favourite game Chelsea have played in so far this season?
Swansea away, because we hadn't been great away from home and I was expecting a tough match. West Ham at home where we played some brilliant football and Everton away for pure entertainment value

5. Do you think Lukaku will turn out to be a good bit of business for us or did Mourhino see us coming?
Yes. I still have slight regrets about selling him, although the fee we got was very good. He's going to turn into a great striker I believe. I think we may just end up doing a Matic on him.

6. Will we there be repeat of the 6-3 'basketball' game we saw in August or a much tighter affair?

A much tighter affair obviously. I wouldn't mind if you concede 6 goals again though.

7. What do you think has gone wrong this season for Everton?

Haven't followed you closely, so I'll leave that to the experts. You would probably be in a better position to tell me.

8. Do you rate any of Everton's players, if so which one(s)?

Seamus Coleman, I think is a very good player. Besic and Stones look like ones for the future. I liked Barkley last season, haven't seen a lot of him this season.

9. What are your chances of winning the Champions League?
With Jose is charge, as good as anyone else's imo.

10. Predictions for the game against us this Wednesday?

2-0 to Chelsea

1. How happy were you with the transfer window and are you stronger as a result of it?

Happy enough with the business. Not quite the sea change signing we saw in the summer but I believe its strengthened us. We all liked Andre though and as an impact sub he was very effective. Cuadrado more likely to play with Willian playing "10" i expect.

2. Which area do you believe needs strengthening the most if any?

Great first 11 but the no cover for Cesc and OK ish cover for Diego. Difficult to have top line back ups of course who are happy to sit on the bench but Fabregas is unique in our squad right now as a playmaker.

3. Many believe you're clear favourites for the title do you share their sentiments?

Yes, I think it's ours to lose. We have negotiated all but 1 of our toughest away games and there's little travelling left to do. only 3 trips outside London left. If we increase the gap any further its all over.

4. Favourite game Chelsea have played in so far this season?
I liked Swansea away, the first 45 mins against West ham was sumptuous, as good as i have seen us play possibly ever. In fact we've had a series of brilliant halfs this year but rarely been all out for the whole game. the 6-3 at your place at the start of the season was a wonderful game to watch too even if we never really had any control.

5. Do you think Lukaku will turn out to be a good bit of business for us or did Mourhino see us coming?
Looking right now as a blinding bit of business for us (Again! ) His limitations as a link player are obvious and for a player of such prodigious physical gifts he doesn't really o it enough. But he's young , plenty of time for him to develop.

6. Will we there be repeat of the 6-3 'basketball' game we saw in August or a much tighter affair?

Well you haven't conceded a goal in ages and we are without Cesc and Diego (I expect) I imagine a much tighter game.

7. What do you think has gone wrong this season for Everton?

Early on your central defenders were in terrible form and you seemed to drop in confidence. Lukaku has been a bit disappointing and key players like Barry and Baines are maybe just dropping off in form. You are pretty predictable as RM is a dogmatic coach (Wenger/Pellegrini) rather than a pragmatic one (Mourinho) So you never change the pattern of play.

8. Do you rate any of Everton's players, if so which one(s)?

lots of them. Baines and Coleman are class, Naismith is very underrated. until his recent antics I have always rated Mirallas. You are way better than your current league position suggests.

9. What are your chances of winning the Champions League?
Last 4 but not quite as good the very best I suspect. We have a chance though.

10. Predictions for the game against us this Wednesday?

2-1 CFC

1. How happy were you with the transfer window and are you stronger as a result of it?

Surprised we allowed 2 attacking midfielders to leave and only bought one in but hopefully what Cuadrardo will offer is some natural width, previously all the attacking players liked to cut inside which can at times make us predictable.

2. Which area do you believe needs strengthening the most if any?

Cover for the left wing, if Hazard, God forbid, picked up an injury we have no natural cover for that side.

3. Many believe you're clear favourites for the title do you share their sentiments?

7 points clear with 14 games to go? Of course we are favourites but I don't think any of us are counting our chickens just yet.

4. Favourite game Chelsea have played in so far this season?
2-0 win against Arsenal at home or the 2-1 win away to Liverpool probably.

5. Do you think Lukaku will turn out to be a good bit of business for us or did Mourhino see us coming?
Definitely overpaid for him but that's not to say he won't be a success, he's got a knack of scoring goals and I don't see why that would change any time soon.

6. Will we there be repeat of the 6-3 'basketball' game we saw in August or a much tighter affair?

Jose's tightened us up a bit more since the start of the season, with the exception of the Spurs away game and with us with our noses in front in the title race I think he's going to be a little more cautious in his approach to games for now.

7. What do you think has gone wrong this season for Everton?

Martinez hasn't addressed the defense and when the attacking players aren't delivering you struggle for results.

It's Martinez all over as a manager, he was the same at Wigan... Sometimes you've got to accept that you can't play wonderful attacking football every week, some money probably needs investing in your back four and a real solid holding midfielder.

8. Do you rate any of Everton's players, if so which one(s)?

Barkley is the obvious one but I think he's still a little short of being really top quality.

Really admire Naismiths work rate and knack of popping up with goals.

9. What are your chances of winning the Champions League?
As good a chance of winning it as anyone else left in the competition but to win you need a huge slice of luck along the way like all knock out competitions.

10. Predictions for the game against us this Wednesday?

2-0 to us but probably won't score until late on.

1. How happy were you with the transfer window and are you stronger as a result of it?

Obviously it's impossible to say how it will pan out this early, but we have swapped out Schurrle for a different style of winger, and in Cuadrado we have a player who definitely has the potential to blossom here, and who has kept improving over the last two seasons. Considering Salah's lack of game time I doubt (or at least I hope) that his departure will have any significant effect on the quality of the first team squad. Certainly I don't think we are weaker for our January transfers.

2. Which area do you believe needs strengthening the most if any?

Predominantly cover for the three attacking midfield roles, and to a lesser extent at full back. Admittedly we have absolutely no one in the squad who can do anything close to what Fabregas can; fingers crossed that he can stay injury-free and on form for the rest of the season or we might be in trouble.

3. Many believe you're clear favourites for the title; do you share their sentiments?

We have a healthy lead and a favourable run of fixtures (at least compared to Man City) so it is natural that we are billed as favourites. I don't really want to say any more as I am terrified of jinxing us.

4. Favourite game Chelsea have played in so far this season?
In terms of sheer entertainment it would have to be the game against you at Goodison, plus it included that beautiful Mikel backheel. Pasting Swansea and Schalke was fun, but with the latter there was some degree of melancholy at seeing Di Matteo get thumped. However ultimately the answer to this question is always going to be any game in which we beat Tottenham, so the 3-0 from December.

5. Do you think Lukaku will turn out to be a good bit of business for us or did Mourinho see us coming?
I do think he will be a success, although perhaps not exactly what we were looking for here. Granted, I feel like he probably wasn't worth what you paid at the time (£28m?) but he is still very young and still has a huge amount of potential. Regardless of this season's form, Everton have a squad good enough to maintain European ambitions and I definitely think he is good enough to lead the line for you in that arena.

6. Will we there be repeat of the 6-3 'basketball' game we saw in August or a much tighter affair?

I think we have both learned our lessons, and Martinez, despite his in some respects admirable insistance on playing attacking football, will surely be far more cautious when coming to Stamford Bridge. I also think the fact that you haven't conceded in three games shows that he has tweaked his gameplan, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if we don't win this game. I rate both Barry and McCarthy very highly and think that on their day they are a match for just about any midfield.

7. What do you think has gone wrong this season for Everton?

Well the most obvious answer is not enough Leon Osman and too much Aiden McGeady!

Clearly the defence has been a problem, but I don't think it is necessarily a problem of personnel as much as it is of strategy. I think you might be a little too reliant on your full-backs to provide width (as brilliant as they both are), and probably play too high up the pitch which leaves Jagielka and Distin exposed and also means that Barry and McCarthy have to cover an impossible amount of space. That said, it looks like Martinez has been addressing these issues in the past month or so and I think you will finish the season strongly.

8. Do you rate any of Everton's players, if so which one(s)?

Aside from the obvious (i.e. Baines, Coleman, Stones) I have thought that McCarthy has the potential to be a brilliant midfielder ever since he was at Wigan, like an Essien-lite. I also like Naismith, who has adapted his game brilliantly and fully deserves his place in the first team. Despite his form this season, I think that Distin is quite possibly the most underrated centre back in the history of the Premier League and have always been gobsmacked at his ability to maintain his quality despite being 38 or something ridiculous.

Also - Leon Osman is a complete and total hero who should have been an England regular; I want to see him lead Everton to a top-half finish in the second half of the season.

9. What are your chances of winning the Champions League?
I think we've been the best team in the Premier League but I'm not entirely convinced we are quite on the level of the very top sides in Europe. Bayern look imperious, Barca have really improved recently and I'm sure Real will get back to their outrageous best as soon as Modric returns to the side. Atletico and Juventus both look very strong as well and I very much hope we don't get drawn against either of them.

10. Predictions for the game against us this Wednesday?

No idea - although I will guess at a 1-1.

  • Author

Thanks for answering our questionnaire, much appreciated. :good2:  A big thanks goes to plokoon13 for giving us chance of at least getting a draw against you lot. Not even I'm convinced we'll get anything at Stamford Bridge, are records not great there.  :laugh2:

Personally, I agree with the summation that the title is for you to lose. Mourhino was determined to win it this season after last seasons disappointment and has gone about it his usual pragmatic way.

In regards to Lukaku: there are quite a few Everton fans not convinced by him. His touch, although it's improved a lot, isn't great and he tends to ball watch as he's offside a lot. It could well be because of how slow we tend to pass the ball around instead of being more direct and getting it up to him quicker. I think he'll come good once we play to his strengths and get the ball into box quicker or into space which he can run onto.

Agan, thanks and good luck, tomorrow.

1. How happy were you with the transfer window and are you stronger as a result of it?

Very happy considering the profits we've made from selling Schurrle and Bertrand which will be very useful by the time the Summer Transfer Window rolls around again. It's sad seeing Schurrle and Bertrand sold but they were both pushed out of the side and it would be very hard for them to get back into the side. I do wonder if Bertrand had comeback a different player had we brought him back from Southampton but hindsight is a wonderful thing. I'm glad Salah's gone albeit on loan as he was woeful this season but personally I never wanted him here to start off with. There's a lot of unknowns with Cuadrado but fingers crossed he's a success for the club.

2. Which area do you believe needs strengthening the most if any?

I think we're lacking in depth and it's something we will need to address especially in the event of injuries and suspension. I think the club might keep an eye on a centre-back especially if Cahill doesn't improve from now to the end of the season and with Drogba potentially retiring at the end of the season we will need another striker unless we decide to bring back Patrick Bamford who's on loan at Middlesbrough and being playing impressive football lately.

3. Many believe you're clear favourites for the title; do you share their sentiments?

We're in a great position without question but I'm nervous to say we're clear favourites. I've seen sides be ten points clear with about 8-10 games to go in the season and only for them to squander it. Newcastle in 1996 and Arsenal in 2003 are the most notable examples of letting go massive leads in the title race in the latter part of the season. Even Liverpool blew it last season which would have delighted both of us!

4. Favourite game Chelsea have played in so far this season?
There hasn't been a particular game that has stood out for mine. I found the 6-3 victory over your mob was very entertaining but it was a terrible game defensive wise. It was very satisfying beating Liverpool in the League Cup Semi Final two weeks ago as well.

5. Do you think Lukaku will turn out to be a good bit of business for us or did Mourinho see us coming?
The kid has talent and potential and could be anything but his attitude has left a lot to be desired. He didn't impress with that part of his personality but maybe as he matures he might develop into a more modest and hard-working player rather than an egotistical one that he was when he with us. So far I feel it's been good business by Jose but time will tell whether Romelu reaches his potential or not. After all he's only 21 still.

6. Will we there be repeat of the 6-3 'basketball' game we saw in August or a much tighter affair?

I don't think it will be a repeat of what we saw last year so expect a tighter clash.

7. What do you think has gone wrong this season for Everton?

I must admit I haven't watched enough of Everton to really provide a thorough insight into their decline this season. From what I've seen Everton's defence has been quite disorganised and I think Martinez's game plan has been figured out by opponents. Everton really seems to lack a plan B at the moment.

8. Do you rate any of Everton's players, if so which one(s)?

I think Ross Barkley is the most obvious candidate for most but even as a veteran I've thoroughly admired Leon Osman and the way he goes about things. He's been an underrated player outside of Everton and deserves more praise than he receives. I would assume he's a club legend now if he isn't already. Naismith and Coleman are others I've grown to admire from the distance.

9. What are your chances of winning the Champions League?
I think we're a good chance but there are still sides better than us and with a tough last 16 clash against PSG we have to focus on that game first and foremost before anyone else. I think Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are all slightly better sides than us but on our day we're capable of beating them all if we play to our best ability.

10. Predictions for the game against us this Wednesday?

Chelsea 2-1 Everton. Everton to put up a fight but to fall short in the end.

1. Fairly happy. I would have liked to see Schurrle given more time to prove himself, but I'm excited about Cuadrado and his skills. Ideally, I'd have liked a CM and CB but am happy to wait until the Summer as the targets we'd be after would be unrealistic in Jan.

2. CB and CDM. JT will retire soon and Cahill is a perpetual ? . We need another top quality CM to allow us to switch to 433 and not miss a beat when Fabregas is out.

3. I think there is way too much hype surrounding us but I do agree that we are favourites. 7 point lead and the most consistent side. However, City will at the least run us close, their squad is too good not to and they could well be in just 1 competition in a month's time...

4. Maybe the 2-1 at Anfield. I'd wanted to see us play there for ages and then to top it all off with a win was amazing. That or the 5-0 away to Schalke given that I was there as well  .

5. Don't rate him very highly I'm afraid, I think £28m was an extortionate fee to pay for him. Good finisher but his overall play is poor, tires very quickly as well in games.

6. Tighter than that certainly!

7. Not sure, lots of your key players have lost form this season and for whatever reason Martinez's style just isn't working. The defence hasn't been as solid either.

8. Plenty, would gladly have Barkley, Stones and Baines in our squad over certain others. I like Jagielka too but I don't think he's good enough for this level.

9. I'd say after the Spanish Giants and Bayern Munich we're probably the next favourites. Don't really see it happening this year though as our focus will very much be on the League Title. Don't think we're good enough defensively this season, with the right additions in the Summer we'd be right up there for me next year. Who knows though, we have a habit of going far in the competition and José knows what to do.

10. 2-0 Chelsea.

2-1 CFC

You and I see things the same way :good2:
