No ! .....no other club had benches ( a plank of wood on a concrete base! )   .....Chelsea FC were the one and only club with them! .......there were no row or seat numbers either ! ......back in the early 1970's ...* it used to cost me about a shilling to transfer to the west stand benches ( after I had paid about 1 shilling & nine pence to get through the main turnstile at either the bovril or shed entrance) ......pay on the gate .....sit where you like! 
* that's a guesstimate, as I can't remember exactly how much it cost....as it was over 45 years ago! .......but I do remember going out with a Ten Shilling Note (which is the equivalent of 50p now) and getting home after a good day out at football, getting pissed ( a pint of beer was only one shilling & nine pence (about 9p in today's world) and still having some loose change left over! .....football was a working mans sport in those days! 
A bench can't be tipped up !.......if they were padded, they would get ripped up! ...similar to when the wooden planks got ripped up back in the day and used as javelins when we played some teams we didn't like!

Still got the game recorded on my sky recording box, 5 years down the line and don't think I will ever delete it. Best moment of my night!

Best documentary ever

I remember her on the special to Leeds in '83 leading a chorus of "We all hate Leeds and Leeds and Leeds..." as we lined up for our Wagon Wheels, Mars Bars and Panda Pops cola.

Proper Chelsea! My era, remember that photo as if yesterday, jonny Neal's blue and White army, Dixon, Nevin, speedie, the shed, the benches, gate 13, the dog track, east stand towering over the ground, Pringle jumpers, promotion, full members cup final, milk cup semi v Sunderland, uncle ken, we didn't win what the y*ds and gooners won in those days, but something about us made them very envious! As I'm writing this the Italian job theme tune has come on radio, matt Monroe "on days like these" very appt I feel?
