  1. Why is Pedro still at the club, let alone in the team? Ross too casual in possession but otherwise ok, and Zouma won’t get a game once Rudi’s fit. Otherwise pretty encouraging ....
  2. I think this whole motivation/revenge is a fan thing as I can’t believe this bunch of players are motivated in any way by thoughts of ‘revenge’ even those who played in the game ... sorry ... more worrying are reports in today’s paper that we are thinking of signing Higuain and Kovachik permanently! Please tell me that’s not possible....
  3. So this is what it’s come to ... every cliche in the book - ‘we gave them a good run for their money,’ ‘ if Eden hadn’t hit the post,’ ‘can’t do anything about a wonder goal’, ‘at least not losing 6-0 shows improvement,’ ‘offside’, ‘we had a game only 3 days before’ ...... Two years ago we won the league and now we’re making excuses for not getting mullered by the potential champions! leaving aside Sarri’s appalling management, how many of our players would be regular starters in another top 6 side, other than Hazard and Kante? In today’s paper there’s an advert for VIP tickets for the Euro game with a photo featuring Chelsea ‘stars’ Willian, Pedro and Giroud .... enough said!
  4. ... and a word of praise for RLC who had a very good game, I thought. He is one tough hombre with skill and power in his locker. He could be the man next season.
  5. I had a lightbulb moment during this game, and I don’t mean turning off the light and sitting in a darkened room as soon as I saw that Jorginho and Kovachik were playing .... again! No, it occurred when Azpi received the ball for the umpteenth time in a dangerous position with loads of space and time in their half, and I realised that’s exactly what our opponents want as they know nothing is going to happen! He either crosses into the box where we have one ineffectual striker waiting for it, or he recycles across the box to the left side where it happens again until ... nothing happens! Not his fault, but there has to be an alternative way of mounting an attack against a block defence ... I suppose better players might be the answer ... I think we may already have them but they can’t get into this side!!!
  6. Everyone on this forum knew for sure that he was going to bring on Willian for Pedro, and then Ross for Kova ... so far so bad ... but I think he signed his death warrant with the fans by bringing on a FB for an FB when we needed to do SOMETHING!
  7. I think the low point of the season was 0-4 to Bournemouth so a 0-6 mullering by City can only be seen as an improvement! Keep your peckers up Chelsea fans!
  8. I haven’t really seen enough of Higuain to make any comment, but I have little trust in Sarri’s judgement as a talent spotter - Jorginho, Kovachic and even Kepa are hardly ringing endorsements. Also, I’ve posted before about our recruitment of strikers who are past their best, e.g. Sheva, Torres, etc.
  9. Just got home after a thoroughly miserable afternoon at the Emirates .... what can be worse than sitting with a bunch of celebrating Gooners when you know you’re never going to score even if we were still playing! I lost count of the times I turned to my mate when we were on the “attack” (duh!) and said “he doesn’t have a clue what to do with it” when any one of our players was on the ball! Alonso? Give me a break ... clueless, useless and anything else ending in “less”! Jorghino ... might have been good in Italy, and may even come good here, but right now he should not be in the team ... simples! Pedrillian? Two identically useless players except one smiles and one snarls! Kovachic? What’s that all about? The only positive from today will hopefully be that Sarri has to realise that this team is no good and cannot score goals. How do we win on Thursday if we can’t score? I can’t see Higuan making that much difference but we fans always live in hope ...
  10. So much for “Sarri-ball” and “playing out from the back” when one decent long ball from Luiz and we score! Our football is as predictable as the result of this shambles!
  11. Alonso is so poor ... why is he getting pelters from the Spurs fans ... hardly with the effort!
  12. CHO has to play and has to stay ... please! Pedro/Willian have had their time ... they are not the future ... Sarri must see this, surely ...
  13. I’d really like to see Emerson get a run, plus CHO, also Ethan who I thought looked really good. Sometimes you need a change just for changes sake ....
  14. It’s totally irrelevant whether Chelsea fans saw any potential in KDB or not ... the point is that his potential was totally missed by the people being paid to judge talent and potential. Whoever signed KDB from us could see it so why didn’t any of our highly-paid staff notice it, particularly as they saw him in training and not in the occasional match. Salah was crap for us and I’m also not convinced about him anyway, but our handling of KDB was just poor ....
  15. Oh mate, you have so nailed it! Reading your post so much better than watching CFC!
  16. Very gloomy outlook unless/until we can get some one other than Eden who can score. Of our regular midfielders, I don’t think either Jorginho or Kovachik have scored yet? Thinking it through this morning, we have a long history of buying strikers who fail .... for every success - Drogba, Costa and (arguably) Crespo, we’ve had Kezman, Mutu, Sheva, Torres, Morata, Pizzaro, Michy, and going further back - Hately, Kevan, Birchenall, Garland etc.
  17. Disappointed not to see RLC or Ross, and v disappointed to see Alonso still there. I think disappointment is going to be the general theme today! by the way, very good piece by Jamie Carragher on Morata in today’s Telegraph which is worth reading ... I’d post it here if I knew how to do that!
  18. Don’t understand why Sarri-ball is in any way unique or different to Klopp-ball, Pep-ball, Poch-ball or Emery-ball? We all (try to) play out from the back, retain possession and move the ball at speed ... the difference is that right now they’re all doing it much better than us! Because ....?
  19. Not content with playing as badly as Torres, Morata now decides to sport the same ‘hard man’ shaved head which Torres also ended up with ... didn’t stop either of them always getting knocked off the ball by almost any defender! ... and how much did we spend on that goalkeeper??
  20. Thanks so much for that, Backbiter. Good to know that Ken ended up a contented man after what would have been a brilliant career was so cruelly cut short.
  21. Ken Shellito was an outstanding player whose career was cruelly cut short by injury. With Eddie McCreadie they were arguably the best full-back pairing of their time ... Eddie was, of course, a complete nutter whereas Ken was a cultured full-back who could really defend but also break forward when the occasion demanded. I think he only won one England cap but the general consensus at the time, and not just among CFC supporters, was that he would have played right-back for England in the 66 WC in preference to George Cohen ... he really was that good! RIP Ken ...
  22. I’d like to see Ross start, too. Could he not play just behind Hazard and Giroud or Morata instead of Pedro/Willian?
  23. Agree with most of what has been said here. Desperately need a striker and a better alternative to Pedro/Willian/Moses. Regrettably Barkley is turning into this year’s Babayoko! Kovacik starting to look really good and Rudiger/ Luiz may turn out to be the real deal? At the beginning of the week I’d have settled for one win and one draw against the Scousers! Altogether a good performance with a lot to be excited about, I think.
  24. I hope Giroud gets a start ... I don’t think Morata is ever going to get there, just not robust enough for PL. CB is still a problem ... we must be able to get a decent pairing out of all the choices we’ve got? Luiz is a worry, of course, but you just gotta love him! I also hope Ross gets another start as he’s going to lose confidence quickly if he’s on the bench every week I think he could be a really good player for us one other thing ... is anyone else getting fed up with the Man C fest which is currently going on? First the documentary, now the 10 year since the takeover celebrations. Don’t think they’ve won as much as us since the Abromovich era began?? I guess they’ve just got a better PR and marketing department!
