  1. Arrrrrghhh . Pretty unlucky here. Not that it excuses the terrible errors

Shows his glaring limitations again by scoring another two goals. All the more reason to get rid.
  3. Yesterday’s result and display has really polarised the forum again. I guess it’s the internet after all :). But some of the negativity is a bit extreme imo. Has to be a middle ground, no? As someone who’s decided to give Potter the benefit of the doubt, yesterday was a real gut punch. I thought, based on the way we started, that if we went a goal up, we might finally have a goal fest. Wasn’t to be, and I agree that this was mostly on Potter. Handing Everton (Everton!) the initiative after being a goal up was really lily-livered. Kepa and KK will make mistakes, but it wouldn’t have mattered had we been a couple of goals ahead, which we might have been had we stuck with the same setup and tactics we started the game with with. I think we’re improving. That may well be despite, rather than because of, Potter. If so, that’s not a bad state of affairs, as ultimately only one change needs to be made - not several. But look - we may as well just get behind Potter for the rest of the season, as there’s no chance he’s going before then. If the fans don’t have his back, Chelsea will play worse, not better. And @bisright1i think you might want to invoke the @nonotnowjim (apols if it was someone else) “safe space” defence for that post 🙂 . if we did that vs Everton and it ended up 2-2, why wouldn’t those same tactics result in 2-5 versus Madrid?
  4. My “seems to” was a deliberate understatement :).
  5. Like one of his predecessors at both Chelsea and Tottenham, he seems to have a personality disorder. It means he can’t be a long-term option imo. If I’m wrong about that, there’s also this: even if he only half means it when he says he wants to be in Italy, it’s an instant dealbreaker. At this level, nothing less than 100% commitment to the place will do.
  6. The talk about individual errors versus coaching. Of course for any goal conceded there is usually an individual error somewhere. Individual players have certain weaknesses. But it’s up to the coach to get the odds in his team’s favour as much as possible, to diminish the possibility of weaknesses being exposed as far as possible. You have to ask yourself - did Potter’s decisions today shift the odds further in our favour or against us? I think it’s the latter, and I think hard to argue otherwise. But i’m still prepared to give him a chance - see how it looks by the end of the season. Nothing happening till then, at the earliest, on the coaching front anyway.
  7. Well - you can count me along the relatively less pessimistic, but I was never confident about going through against Real and I don’t think we will. The optimism regarding this fixture pre and post announcement seemed misplaced. Not least because Carlo is one wily operator. Right now, I don’t think we’re better than CL QF. Would of course love it if we do get through. But I’d see it as punching above our current weight.
  8. Well. You clearly haven’t watched All or Nothing on Amazon prime. I suggest you do. It just might change your life.
  9. Yes. I don’t disagree with you. It’s not on our defenders (the players), but the defence, and for that the coach is responsible. 💯 basically I think the last few weeks have revealed that our players can all play. Lots of q marks over the coach still (but I’ll give him a chance). Much better that way round though than great coach but terrible players.
  10. While I share the disappointment and don’t disagree with the criticism being levelled at Potter, I still think the overall trend is ⬆️, with or without Potter. Trying to look at things as coldly as I can, if this is on Potter (and I agree it probably is), is that a bad thing? we’re improving despite today’s result, I think. If that improvement is despite, rather than because of Potter, the implications are pretty good. It would be much worse, and much harder to solve, if the players were all duds.
  11. Well, I did say lots of room for further improvement. So we kind of agree. I actually think we played better today than against both Leeds and Leicester. But We really need to learn how to convert a situation where we go 1-0 up against lesser opposition into a 3-0, rather than 2-2. Disappointing we didn’t, for sure. I think solving the defence is key to that. Game plan after going 1-0 up should have been to absorb whatever they had to offer and catch them on the counter. But need a rock solid and well drilled defence for that.
  12. Don’t disagree with any of this. Am staying positive though. Hopefully Potter learns something from it.
  13. Yes I actually think this is now maybe a key area that needs work. Lack of goals today was a lot about luck imo. Attacking play in general much better.
  14. Thanks just 😂. To be fair it’s been a while since I changed my mind.what I’m seeing now is further confirmation of improvement.
  15. Having been in the doom camp for a bit, I’m firmly not anymore. Easy to say after we score. Even if we lose this, though, I really don’t see the case for this being “same old” etc. we’re playing miles better than we were, with enormous room for further improvement. The trend is surely up?
  16. Come on Chelsea. Show the required character to win this.
  17. Oh well. 2 feet away from a true miracle
