  1. Looks a bit like Palace's old kit. Similar design.
  2. He should have got together with Sarah Ferguson. She was into that too.
  3. Ah yes. David Mellor led the way didn't he? 😉
  4. Perhaps, but trust them at your peril.
  5. You don't want those clowns involved either. I remember when Mandelson stopped Murdoch from buying United back in the day, yet they did sod-all to prevent a leveraged buyout. I know politics is taboo on this thread but it should be abundantly clear to all in sundry that the government couldn't organize an orgy in a whorehouse. Roman is bound to be under pressure to offload Chelsea so the government can slap itself on the back, but the ramifications of this could spell disaster for a great club.
  6. From today's Guardian. If this story has any legs, fight it to the last. Don't let another dodgy Yank owner into the league. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/mar/09/woody-johnson-chelsea-bid-rumours-new-york-jets-owner
  7. I didn't know Bobby Smith played for Chelsea, Peter Brabrook too. I remember him playing for West Ham in the cup final against Preston.
  8. They came for a friendly in 74. I wasn't there so I can't say what happened. Some Rangers fans say they took the Stretford End, but United fans i knew who were there said they tried and were chased out. I know there was fighting on the pitch and in town where City fans joined up with them. But stories get embellished over time. Celtic came down in 1972 for Bobby Charlton's testimonial and they brought a lot down. but the atmosphere that night was great but there were a lot of green and white scarves in the Stretford End that night and I saw Celtic fans wearing read and white scarves.
  9. Not that I can remember. The only time I saw oppo fans in there was December 1972 when Leeds came for Doc's first match in charge. Some female Leeds fans ended up the the seats but, apart from the usual abuse, nothing happened. A few of them weren't bad looking either. Taking ends was a thing for most big clubs back then.
  10. Roman will be a big loss to Chelsea. I hope you don't end up with a consortium whose primary purpose is to monetize everything about your club and who care only for the profits they can pocket. Believe me, once a leech gets hold of you, they never go away.
  11. So is Arthur Daley or Del Trotter. Makes you weep.
  12. And we'll never pay the debt off. Unless there's a radical overhaul of the club from top to bottom, I'd say you are right. It would take state resources to balance our books and with the Saudis buying the barcodes, that ship has sailed (not that I wanted them at the club anyway). People point to the Glazers and say 'look how much money they gave Ole.' They didn't. The club is collateral for that debt and the cheque to Dortmund for Sancho wasn't drawn on the Glazer's bank account.
  13. This was the crest from 1953-1986, or so the lonked website says: https://worldsoccerpins.com/historical-crests-chelsea-fc/
  14. He's a great fit for Chelsea. Seems like a nice bloke too judging by his interviews. No massive ego on display. Seems to let his players do the talking on the pitch.
  15. So look for the common denominator. Woodward and his bosses. That's where the problem lies. Van Gaal went public about it but Jose has kept quiet. Probably a non-disclosure clause in his payoff, which was in the region of £15 million.
  16. Bailly can be a monster of a player, but he can also be error prone. He hasn't had a lot of minutes under Ole and the rumour is he's off to Tottenham in January. Lindelof, for my money, is a better defender when the ball is on the ground, but he tends to get dragged out of position and is weak in the air. One-on-one, he is very good.
  17. I think Bailly will partner Lindelof in the middle. Wan-Bissaka on the right and Telles on the left. I'd expect Sancho, Ronaldo, Fernandes, and Rashford to start too. Midfield could be McTom and Donny or maybe Matic. Maguire is suspended, Pogba is injured along with Varane. Shaw is doubtful and so is Fred but they'll probably run late fitness tests on them. Greenwood is fit and will be on the bench.
  18. Given our injury list, we have to even things up a bit.
  19. He's been around for a while and managed Schalke. Word is that he's taking over for the interregnum and will then act as DoF or some other capacity upstairs. It's about time we hired someone with a bit of nous instead of handing jobs out to the inexperienced as if the club were some job training scheme. I've been a Poch advocate for a long time and hope he comes in the summer.
  20. Phil Jones? Erm, we'd like to get something out of the game. McTom would work as a stopgap CB I suppose. Maybe even Shaw.
  21. Gawd knows. Mengi? That would be some debut for him.
  22. I put a decent sum on you for the title before the season started. No reason to change my mind.
  23. Greetings from the madhouse that is Old Trafford these days. I don't want to predict the score for the match but it all depends on which United turns up at the Bridge. Our midfield - if you can call it that - will likely be McTominay and Fred (unless Carrick goes off-script and plays Donny in there) and our defence will be shorn of Varane (a signing that was questionable at best, given his injury record at Real) and Maguire, but that's not really a handicap. Lindelof and maybe Bailly will be in the middle. Rashford and Ronaldo up front with Fernandes tucking in behind. Latest news is that Ralf Rangnick is our interim boss but he won't be in the dugout against Chelsea. Traditionally, we don't perform that well after a European away game so I imagine you'll pick up the points. A title challenge is out of the question now - thanks Glazers - but the FA Cup remains a possibility. The CL is beyond us. It all feels a bit 1980s.
  24. Worthy champions. Tuchel outmatched Guardiola again. Spare a thought for Frank though for laying the groundwork for that win. City had 1 shot on target and people are saying they didn't turn up. No mention of their midfield being nullified and the superb play by Reece James, Mount, Kante, and Rudiger who drew their sting. Enjoy the moment lads. See ya next year.
  25. Come on Chelsea, you can win this. City fans are being insufferable thinking all they have to do is show up to get their hands on the big 'un. Take it back to West London and send the bitters home in tears.
