November 23, 20214 yr Hello @coco you’ve made a mistake here. The match is Chelsea vs Anthony Taylor’s Manchester United.
November 23, 20214 yr This match will be a battle, the PL are desperate to keep the ManUtd recovery narrative going and so Chelsea will play 11x15 (probably more when you throw in the VAR crew) just saw Anthony Taylor working the match. The PL is not even hiding the match fixing anymore. Edited November 23, 20214 yr by TarHeelCFC
November 24, 20214 yr Mendy Chalobah Silva. Rudiger James RLC. Jorginho. Alonso Ziyech. Pulisic. CHO..

Two superb displays, playing a poor United side shot of confidence missing Pogba and both third first choice CBs. Got an away win written all over it, least thst is script Anthony Taylor has. You can be sure if the first and forth goals are scored against United like tonight they are disallowed for handball and offside. The other 2 pulled back for "fouls" we committed in our last match...

November 24, 20214 yr Wow how does he still keep his job in the top flight.. his levels of incompetence are extreme - he does not ref he just guesses and is probably the most inconsistent ref of all time. i hope we give him hell when he comes here from minute one from the stands so he is afraid to blow his whistle and if not marginal atleast gives us the ones that are nailed on. TT is too good and fair a person but JM been here he would have absolutely called him out before the match.
November 24, 20214 yr RLC has been excellent going forward. Not as good as Kante in defence but a great partner to Jorginho. I didn’t think chiller looked that bad coming off and hopeful he will be up for untied. maybe christenson for silva mount and maybe Werner for ziyech and Pulisic

I agree that we need Kante but RLC gives us that physicality and is better in the final third compared to Kante . It was a joy watching him drive with the ball and having juve players bounce of him like flies I think you need to put some respek on Alonso's name. Lol.. He is a bad left back but a world class left wingback and luckily for us he plays LWB in Tuchels system.

His lack of pace against Sancho and Rashford is a concern as well. Gives Toni more chances to bump up his wages at least though eh lol
November 24, 20214 yr We haven't beaten them at home since 2017 and Morata's trademark header. That's five games in a row. Sounds strange, doesn't it? Anyway, prime Howard Webb wouldn't be able to help them on Sunday, let alone Anthony Taylor. Does anyone really think they stand a chance with Lindelof and Bailly at the back? If we manage to stop Ronaldo that is pretty much it.
November 24, 20214 yr Obviously the match will be 11 vs 13 when we take in count all the refs but we should still win this. Kai Havertz should be fresh and he delivers in the big games.
November 24, 20214 yr If Ben is indeed out I would go with Mendy Trev Silva AC James Jorgi Kante Rudiger Pulisic Havertz CHO Or Dave at LWB and Toni in place of AC. Edited November 24, 20214 yr by axman2526
November 24, 20214 yr A few are calling for CHO to drop back to LWB. Think that would be very harsh given how well he has been playing in his best position. If that'll is how TT goes hopefully means Pulisic or Werner get the left forward role and we keep good pace down that side.
November 24, 20214 yr Chilly is out so it’s one of Alonso or Dave at LWB. James will start on right we have great options for the 3 in front of Mendy. Temo will likely start as striker as Pully was a tad anonymous yesterday not saying he didn’t try but was ineffective at creating any scoring opportunities. Zyech ended the game well but I hope Kai can return, if so I’d have Kai & Mason supporting Temo. Jorginho plus RLC or Kante (got to be doubtful) in the middle. Don’t know what to expect re United wish Olly was not sacked but that’s TT job to anticipate and plan for.

As far as the front 3 go I would just ask what are the weaknesses of Uniteds likely defensive pair or Lindof and Bailey? Against Juve we needed trickery with some pace, it is why the front 3 picked were the right choices and on another day Pulisic could have had a goal and an assist. Have Harry been playing then we would want to hit him with as much pace as we could. But how about the two that are likely starting? I don't know much about them and how they play to be honest. Are they fast? Then we would be best served with Kai and Zyiech trying to trick them with CHO. Are they slow but strong? Then Timo and CP with CHO. Are they prone to errors when pressed? Then Mount should play. Incdently United are for sure without Pogba and the suspended McGuire. They are probably without Varane and Cavani, but those two have no return date for their issues so not sure. Shaw (head) and Greenwood (covid 19 isolation) are expected back. November 24, 20214 yr We can do it as long as Alonso is in the right headspace. Having a revitalized Sancho up against Alonso is not the best thing to look forward to.
November 24, 20214 yr United have had the upper hand against us in recent years. Even under Ole they did well against us in the league. It would be great to get a win against them, and a resounding one at that. I fully expect a tough game as they have a ton of good attacking players in particular. That being said you have to fancy our chances of creating opportunities against their defense, even without Harry Maguire ;). Lets hope we can take our chances on Sunday and continue to defend well.

Why do you think Alonso shouldn't play? I haven't seen a bad game from him under Tuchel. He's also had a fantastic start of the season. If you are emphasizing his 'lack of pace' like many do, I never really thought that was the case with him. He's not Usain Bolt, but he's far from slow. Besides that, Rudiger is on his side to cover up for eventual mistakes so no worries. But I don't think Alonso is going to have a problem stopping Sancho, who has done literally nothing so far. Justice for Marcos!

Weirdly, our record against United post-Ferguson has been average. We used to always step up a gear when he was coaching them.

Justice for Marcos! Lack of pace is an issue, a bigger one though is his ability to get up and down the flank for 90 plus minutes for 3 games a week. He gets gased, and that leaves the attack short and defence exposed. 2 games a week he can do a job, but 3? Not for me he is going to get too tired.
November 25, 20214 yr So I tend to make it a policy to not watch United unless we are playing them. Anyone on here know the strengths and weaknesses of Lindoff and Bailey and who would be the best from 3 to get at them?
November 25, 20214 yr While it's certainly a blow to lose Chilwell I think people are going OTT on Alonso especially the wingback version. We've beaten United many times with Marcos playing.
