Chelsea v Man Utd (PL) Sun 28th Nov 2021 16:30 GMT

Their new manager won't be involved in the game, no time for that. From what I saw online he's seen as some epic sports director or something like that, but not really as a good football manager.

He's coming from a top 3 Russian team that is currently at the bottom in their Europa League group right now, again he was the manager of sports and development and not the manager of the squad so it doesn't really really sound like he's going to win Man United anything but mainly he's there just to keep things steady on all levels till the end of the season.

Tuchel had only been at Chelsea 4 weeks when we last played Utd.

A lot has happened since that game, OGS failed to implement a coherent style of play, whilst Tuchel has moulded Chelsea into a monster with his back 3 and advanced wing backs where most of the defending is done in the oppositions half.

Were a different team than we were back in Feb.

Utd will look at Juventus' 1-0 win over us, our attack was predictable that game, against a strong Juve defence, we were always in danger of getting sucker-punched the longer it went without us scoring.

I think the game will be more like the game in midweek with us dominating and suppressing the life out of Utd/Ronaldo.

Reece James Vs Ronaldo. :droolsmiley:

Chelsea 3 - 0 Utd

United have been more susceptible on their left side so far this season. So we need to get the ball to James as much as possible. Think his best support and biggest thorn to United would be Ziyech.

Play like we did against Leicester and Juve and it should be a comfortable 3 points, play like we did against Burnley and we give Utd a chance.   I'd sit Silva for this one and bring back Christensen as he has a bit more pace on the turn.  Hard to see how Mason gets back in the side as a starter.   I'd stick RLC in the middle with Jorge for his power and ability to drive forward. Play a false nine again with speed up front against the Utd defence and run them ragged.   Can't be a better time to stick the knife in Utd as it is now...4-1 ...and that one being a CR7 dive and penalty.

We were just as good against Burnley if not better, Pope was sensational.

Chilwell, Kante, Kovacic and Lukaku are all out. Or Lukaku is ready to be on the bench but not to start according to Tuchel.

Anyone know what are most amount of Cobham academy boys have started a league game together is?

On Sunday it seems quite likely CHO, RLC, James and at least one of AC or Trev start. If both do and Mount as well would be 6 out of the 11. Wowzer.

and if we look at other clubs we can add gallagher, broja, lamptey, livramento, guehi & gilmour (all premier league). then we would have 12 youth products playing in this weeks premier league round (9 still on our books + 2(?)with buyback)!

Same attack as Leicester...

Out of possession: Revert to back 4 , Azpilicueta drop back, CHO drop back to lwb, Mount into midfield, Havertz offers out ball.

In possession: Push out into 3-4-3 with a false 9

                       Mendy

         Trevoh    Andreas    Rudiger

James     Jorginho      RLC          Azpil

       Mount     Havertz     CHO

Triple sub the whole attack if we have no goal in an hour...

Ziyech    /    Werner or Lukaku    /    Pulisic or Werner

I think Ziyech has earned his start over Mount . I wonder why no one asked Tuchel about Havertz fitness in his presser 2 hrs ago

He's been around for a while and managed Schalke. Word is that he's taking over for the interregnum and will then act as DoF or some other capacity upstairs. It's about time we hired someone with a bit of nous instead of handing jobs out to the inexperienced as if the club were some job training scheme. I've been a Poch advocate for a long time and hope he comes in the summer.

@Stretford Ender

You have to be fairly confident with Taylor being the ref and him being a United fan though eh?

I would be surprised if we make it out of the game without a red card and pen conceded.

Given our injury list, we have to even things up a bit.

He was supposed to be the next JT once upon  a time lol.

Just wondering why you said maybe Bailly. Is he not very good so a midfielder or left back would be better?

I think Bailly will partner Lindelof in the middle. Wan-Bissaka on the right and Telles on the left. I'd expect Sancho, Ronaldo, Fernandes, and Rashford to start too. Midfield could be McTom and Donny or maybe Matic. Maguire is suspended, Pogba is injured along with Varane. Shaw is doubtful and so is Fred but they'll probably run late fitness tests on them. Greenwood is fit and will be on the bench.

Van Gaal, Moyes, Mourinho .....experience didn't work for them.

So I tend to make it a policy to not watch United unless we are playing them.

Anyone on here know the strengths and weaknesses of Lindoff and Bailey and who would be the best from 3 to get at them?

Bailly can be a monster of a player, but he can also be error prone. He hasn't had a lot of minutes under Ole and the rumour is he's off to Tottenham in January. Lindelof, for my money, is a better defender when the ball is on the ground, but he tends to get dragged out of position and is weak in the air. One-on-one, he is very good.

So look for the common denominator. Woodward and his bosses. That's where the problem lies. Van Gaal went public about it but Jose has kept quiet. Probably a non-disclosure clause in his payoff, which was in the region of £15 million.

He's a great fit for Chelsea. Seems like a nice bloke too judging by his interviews. No massive ego on display. Seems to let his players do the talking on the pitch.

I don't think the club will ever return to anything like their domination in the past until the owners are gone, they are leeches.

It all depends on us, we're the better team, we're in better form and everything that can stop us it's ourselves. After two brilliant performances it's time to kill United, we have a strong battle with Liverpool and City and we need the points to keep our running going.

------------------ Mendy ------------------

-- Christensen -- Silva --- Rudiger -----

James --- Jorginho -- RLC --- Alonso

--------- Ziyech ------- CHO --------

------------------ Werner ------------------

Having Havertz, Mount, Lukaku, Pulisic on the bench would be excellent.

Can't wait for the game , COME ON CHELS!!!!!!

And we'll never pay the debt off. Unless there's a radical overhaul of the club from top to bottom, I'd say you are right. It would take state resources to balance our books and with the Saudis buying the barcodes, that ship has sailed (not that I wanted them at the club anyway). People point to the Glazers and say 'look how much money they gave Ole.' They didn't. The club is collateral for that debt and the cheque to Dortmund for Sancho wasn't drawn on the Glazer's bank account.

Even Mike Ashley is a better option than the Glaziers.

This is shocking.....

United spent £496million on interest payments between 2010 and 2020, which is more than every other Premier League club combined over the same period. Liverpool, for context, spent just £29million on interest payments over that period.

Agree. Mount seems way off it to me, as much as I would enjoy as many Cobham boys starting as possible Ziyech is in better form. His corner led to goal 1 vs juve, he sullied the cross for werner, found RLC before CHO scored, and at the foxes he set up Pulisic. Just a case of who starts with him and CHO for me, Werner or Havertz.

Is your list really worse than ours though?

We have no Kante, Kovacic, Chilwell and Lukaku not fit to start. Seems pretty even to me.

Hmm so we could see Bailly either play like Rudiger or like McGuire then. Have to see.

Lindelof will have to be targeted at set pieces, but we don't have attackers that are good in the air, no Drogba or Giroud to trouble hi
