Joey's still out according to SSN. Hoping for the same formation as against Arsenal, except Malouda for Deco, something I'd never expect me to say. Deco dropped to the bench and Stoch on the bench to play at least 15 mins.

What's really weird is that we have 4 pretty awesome centre-backs. Would really hate to see any of them go. But part of me wants one to go for bring up Mancienne. Bit of a conundrum.

It hasn't done anything for me. It just does what any website should do and starts at the top. Either my computer is wrong and everyone elses is doing it right, or I just have a supreme computer to everyone. Probably the latter :o

I agree, but there's no way Stoch can be as bad as Malouda and Kalou. It'll be his first start so he'll be raring to do trying to make an excellent first impression!

I too, Virosh, hope that Stoch will get his chance tomorrow. Malouda hasn't performed. Deco hasn't performed. Kalou isn't the best. Joey is out, I think. Why don't we give him a chance? And Sinclair too for good measure.

Fair point, but what would you rather? Score or concede? I personally would rather score cause if we score 2, 3, 4 goals then 1 goal conceded won't make a difference. However, say we score 1 and concede 1 or 2, then we have a problem. It's a bit of a conundrum.

Fair point, fair point. I just see Joey as a much more creative player than Ballack. We have our drive in Essien, our goal-scoring in Frank, but Ballack is pretty similar to Frank and we'll need that quick, take on a man part in Joey IMO. Not saying Ballack isn't a good enough player, but Joey gives that creative edge for me.

I really have to say I don't agree with that. Ashley has improved and improved in his time with us and Bridge seems to have weakened. Like someone has said on another thread I think, Ash and Bosingwa are probably the best LB and RB in the world and with them we don't need the wingers, bar Joey Cole.

You'd take Joey Cole out? I'd put Joey in for Ballack as he's not exactly the brightest bulb in the box. Ballack is very, very good on his day, but how many days of these has he got left? But other than that I think you've put a pretty good shout for our best formation. Unfortunately, Scolari won't drop Deco that easily. Another important question is, who would you have on the bench? Personally, I'd go for: Carlo Belletti Alex Deco Ballack Kalou Di Santo ?

Get rid of Malouda, not Kalou. Kalou was half decent yesterday and is still learning where as Malouda is 28/29 (?), an age where most players would be hitting their peak like Drogba did 2 years ago at 28. Would definitely go for a 4-4-2, or the similar 4-2-2-2, with Anelka and Drogba as the 2. Am liking the idea of putting Ivanovic at RB when Alex/Carvalho return and moving him up to midfield on the right. Then Joe Cole out on the left. Now I'm sure everyone on here will agree, the 2 in the middle should be Mikel and Lampard. I didn't get a chance to watch the match as I was out all day, but I watched the MOTD highlights and the whole of the 2nd half was all Arsenal! We reeeeeeeally need a big strong striker. Drogba preferably. And a Plan B. We really are going to struggle now with only our away form to depend on and who knows how long that can last.

I can't think of 5, but I have one to improve saturdays and sunday. Why don't Sky Sports scrap setanta and then give you a choice of every game that's on that day. There will be one big game obviously like Chelsea v Arsenal or whatever that will be shown on the channel, but press the Red Button and you get a choice of whatever game you want for £5 or something. And you can have deals for the season/half season and Sky Sports would make a hell of a lot of money out of it! Too optimistic, or a decent idea?

I think it will be a tough game. Arsenal will park the bus for a lengthy period of the game and try and hit us on the counter, something they can do successfully with the likes of Nasri and Fabregas. What we need to do is score early. Score 1 or 2 early and then play our normal game. Change our style of play possibly because Arsenal will be expecting some passing, fluid football, but if we suddenly change it to Route 1 tactics (even though Anelka can't win a header to save his life) and then let Ballack/Lampard/Deco pick up on the loose balls. Oh, and we have to win every second ball that comes out of the area! I noticed we barely won any second ball against Bordeaux and they went forward and attackedus from that second ball. Get Mikel and A.Cole or Boringwa to stand 25-30 yards from goal and aim for the second ball! Team unfortunately picks itself, but like Ethical, hoping to go for the same formation as against Pompey now we have Ballack back. Our league AWAY record is good, home not so much, strangely.
