  1. I know this performance might be a one off but there is a striker on loan at Girona who accomplished something today that the entire CFC squad couldn't do over two legs of the CL quarterfinal and that is score. The on-loan NYC player, Valentin Castellanos scored four in Girona's 4-2 win over Madrid today. And he might come cheap!!! The Bridge has been a graveyard for high-priced strikers so perhaps a lower-priced true No. 9 would work. Who the hell knows after this season.
  2. That is a North American thing. Owners have always made the presence felt in the dressing room, No problem with that. As for yet another new manager I still think Diego Simeone is somewhere in the mix and should be.
  3. Our university football team has an impressive run the past few seasons with solid coaching but doubt he would be available next season. Having said that, my vote would be for Diego Simeone. Tough talking, take no sh*te type of manager who could best possibly deal with ownership. That, my friends, would take a magician!! 😆
  4. Rest assured I DO NOT but ironically, the Leafs are having a pretty decent season, one which can not be said about this sorry lot of Blues.
  5. Another 90 minutes I will never get back. Seems like a recurring theme of late. What I have noticed in recent weeks is a bit of inspiration off the opening touch but failing to score early they spend the next 80 minutes feeling sorry for themselves and giving up, I would exert more energy typing this than some of the players did in that match. Gawd freakin' awful. I believe it was a wee bit worse than the Southampton match, significantly worse than Villa's and I thought those couldn't be topped for ineptness. Seems a Lamps for Potter switch made little or no difference.
  6. This decision can't hurt. We're not going down and we're not going to Europe next season so if Frankie can, at very least, right the ship go for it. A few results will certainly build some much needed and sorely lacking confidence, Besides, Lamps has all the gear from his first time around so no need to outfit him again. 😁
  7. While I concur with your reasoning, I also think we must include Boehly in the blame-game. He has bought and bought but with a North American baseball attitude where if you spend enough you will eventually find success, somehow. Some of his buys have been understandable, others not so much and many have been sadly overvalued. He hands Potter a huge squad with equally huge egos and forced GP into trying to appease somewhere in the neighbourhood of 27 players and a demanding fanbase. If you are distributing blame, perhaps the percentages should be 33/33/33 from the baseball-minded owner to Potter to the players.
  8. Completely agree on that. He may not be one of the "big-name players" of recent purchase but he comes to work every day and works hard. Afraid can't say the same for everyone in the squad.
  9. Reminds me of trying to secure employment years ago. Recruiter - "We can't hire you because you have no experience". Me - "How do I get experience if no one hires me?" Recruiter - "Get a job"
  10. My thoughts exactly. Confidence is building but still needs some tending to.
  11. An interesting take but if there aren't results, will Boehly, et al, stick with Potter? I understand your train of thought but as you are well away, managerial futures are built on results. And why not make a flying run at a European spot? Fourth would require a miracles but there still remains a realistic chance (if the planets align correctly) of getting one of those other spots on the continent.
  12. Let's hope so, Away at Leicester City will be a test, always is. I honestly feel that Potter is faced with a most difficult position with the number of roster players. He has to take a stand now and pick what he feels is the best XI and stick with it. Egos will be bruised but rotating a roster is not going to build and type of consistency.
  13. Sorry Valerie, not a Vancouver Canuck fan. The Crazy Canuck refers more to the Canadian ski team of the '70s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crazy_Canucks
