  1. Can see the administration under duress, appointing an experienced and proven manager, and also a smattering of proven and experienced players in the Summer. The experiment has catastrophically failed, and the ownership must now be aware of this. 2 Billion down the karzi
  2. You don’t become a billionaire, as the main players behind our ownership are, without sh*tting on people, and developing rhino skin. Noble intentions, however the protests can continue till hell freezes over and it’ll make f**k all difference.
  3. We’ve been playing pedestrian speed football for years now. We don’t break at pace, close down the opposition with any semblance of rapidity.
  4. Possession based football dull as dishwater IMO. How many goals have we conceded by playing too much football in the wrong areas…
  5. He talks a good game, and that’s about all. Slightly off topic. The first manager I remember was Dave Sexton. Guess how many managers we have had since 1974, including interims? Who was the last gaffer that was universally rated by our support. Tuchel had his detractors. Conte, Ancellotti maybe. We’re not easily pleased…
  6. Like a lot of us, did a fair share of ground hopping in the late 70s , early 90s. If we were playing away in far flung parts of the country, used to occasionally go to Highbury or Upton Park with school mates. Paper round money so sometimes did Northern away days but not that easy…. Point is, clubs had their own little nuances and identity. Arsenal was and old man’s club and a bit boring. West Ham- Took them selves to seriously- thee was much more laughter at Stamford Bridge than the above, more characters…
  7. What competition would that have been in, or was it a friendly? When we won the League in 55, the FA talked us out of entering the European Cup. Not quite sure what the prevailing logic was behind this?
  8. Was that bloke with the carrier bag known as Brains? We’ve certainly had some characters over the years.
  9. There’s been a bit of fuss- rightly so about that chap who has now visited every club in the senior non league pyramid- the the Football League Pyramid at a ridiculously young age and just kept going. He also managed to combine this with following QPR- hasn’t missed a home game for 50 years. Obviously a bit of “ Rain Man” about him, and managed to combine it with a wife and kids. Reminds me a bit of Ron Hockimgs, and Cath of course…
  10. Not a barrel of laughs the old Nuremberg’s
  11. The tallest floodlights in the country. Coming over to Victoria Station, used to see them on the left
  12. My Grandad was a Spaghetti Twirler from Wandsworth- lots of Italians moved there from Little Italy, Clerkenwell, because of Rock Asphalt- Asphalting was an London/ Italian trade- Was born in 1903- First game at the Bridge 1910.
  13. Apologies for spelling mistake. Need to invest in some windows
  14. In no particular order. Robert Fkeck. Robert Fleck. Robert Fleck.
  15. Maximum Respect to you Sir
  16. I was 18. Got home in the small hours and rung my Mum up to pick me up from Wimbledon Station- She wasn’t impressed. Remember the fella sitting opposite me on the train. He was probably about 25. Had a zebra striped Lacoste jumper on, real boxers face, aka Rocky Marciano.
  17. Example, when we played Portsmouth, night game 84- hundreds of seats got torn up- We had a massive mob out that night- Ken tried to spin it that it was the work of a dozen odd blokes ripping up multiple seats. Credit where due, he did stock his neck out to protect us
  18. Gotta be marching on a bit now Ken Bates. Bit of a clique but he divided opinion. He kind of tried to distance himself from the “ rowdy element” of our support when we were sh*t, however was no doubt aware that it was a substantial chunk of our followers. He weren’t all good, and he weren’t all bad
  19. Bit off topic. You mentioned getting the bus from Brixton to the Bridge back in the day. Was Brixton mostly Brixton or Millwall? My brother in laws Mike C, who wrote our Cup Final Song Blue Dsy, was from Brixton Hill, as were many others. Also know of lads from the same era, perhaps more North Brixton and Coldharbour Lane direction that were Millwall. Stockwell was staunch Chelsea, Streatham fairly Chelsea with also a lot of Palace I’m told. Fascinating the tribal dynamic back in the day, no doubt influenced by transport links and relative fashionability of clubs at the time
  20. Apologies wrong link. Meant to respond to Rising Suns comment. Seriously need to invest in some windows
  21. In Bridge News, Bates’s in house propaganda rag, that was sent in the post to members, there was a feature with Terry Venables, who mentioned the interest in that game. That’s when we weee your proverbial “ Sleeping Giants” When we got promoted with Newcastle and Sheffield Wednesdays in 84, all three of us kinda fell under the same label
  22. Hickey in his monkey suit….. bit later we went there. At half time a few ground staff came out at half time, raking the pitch. Mostly black or mixed race from memory. “ They’re planting coconuts they’re planting coconuts…” Poor taste by today’s standards, but wasn’t sung with any malice. Different era. Oh and we got ambushed by West Ham and Mile End coming back
  23. Supposed to have lost pace after his broken leg, and become a bit more physical. Saw him and Ron Harris in Stockholm for the Cup Winners Cup. They went out their on their own steam, with no connection to the club. Good craic, and a pair of gentlemen as you’d expect
