In this other discussion about pace I've already thought about it. Especially Robben is a player who would probably fit better into Scolari's system

Old coach Schuster was alright when he predicted it would be impossible to win. So why did they sack him when he was alright :D

Would you trust Big Phil with your money
If I haven't stated it in my former posts I'd do it again: I wish nothing less than sacking Scolari NOW. I wish stability for our club and though our performances are bad sometimes this season I'm of of those who'd never, ever encourage booing our club. For stability, I wish a manager in that position for longer than say the time Mourinho has spent with us, but I wish to see the right man there. And I just have my doubts Scolari is the right man. I'm waiting eagerly to see something convincing but the longer this soap goes on, the less is my conviction. Reading this thread it seems I'm not the only one. Scolari has inherited an aging squad, yes. But in the summer he could have had some opportunities to improve this situation. E.g. our midfield. See Lampard. I'm a great admirer of him but he IS an aging player. He could have get rid of him. It would have been the easiest thing. And Deco: I have always been quite skeptical about him and although he had some great appearances in September (winning the player of the month award) his current performance is utterly crap. He is an aging player also and we all remember what Barca said after they've sold him to us. And yet Malouda and Kalou, two players many posters here have problems with, are surprisingly NOT aging players. OK you have to define that but at least Kalou shall not of this category. So? Age doesn't seem to be the worst problem in our squad. And yes Scolari did hunt Robinho. Fine. He would make a good improvement I agree, watching out what he's done for City. BUT it seems to me the world broke down for Scolari after he joined City at the final day of the transfer deadline. For me this sort of transfer management isn't a shining example for his ability, but this is only my very limited view.

January Strikers - who is available
Everyone is joking about our "aging squad" and now we're going to sign another striker on the edge of his career? Hm ...

Yes this is one way but the question about his ability still remains. I think a good manager would have been able to do better with our current squad, and to be honest we DON'T have a bad squad at the moment though it needs some improvement (but I think every squad needs improvement). So as Scolari hasn't done well with the current squad could he do better if given him the cash for improvements? I think that's also a question of cost-benefit-relations. Sure Scolari could do better with improvements - but won't ANY manager do better with that? So the thought Scolari can't do the best with his players still remains. But maybe I'm the only one.

Hey
Tri-Blue is quite a common and popular nickname on Chelsea boards so it's surprising to see it takes 2500+ accounts till an account with Tri-Blue is created! Warm welcome from me and good to see this section is used

Yes I know that doesn't justify him a bit. At the end it's just the results that counts. I'm just thinking about the often-brought argument "Give him more time, Fergie/Wenger/teletubbie all needed their time to become successful". I'm just thinking if he deserves it.

Or maybe Scolari was just too overhyped to be true. Though he had a great CV we all thought of him to be UBER-manager. At the end he was just ordinary?

I share your thoughts. This is exactly what I'm feeling about Scolari though I haven't thought of the aspect yet that this could be possibly a reason why cash is denied to him in the January transfer window. One thing that is most striking is that we're not only dropping points against big names and strong oppositions but struggle against quite the most ordinary teams in the PL. That sometimes when we find our form we could do it 5-0 but when we couldn't win 5-0 all we do is not trying to - say, at least win it 1-0. West Spam didn't prove themselves to be a that superior team but despite some very rare moments the team lacks the will to breakthrough and earn the win. What we have shown today is far far away from what we've shown in January last year. And though I may be the only one I have serious doubts concerning Scolari's ability to motivate the team. To infuse them the will to fight hard for a win and may it be a simple and "boring" 1-0. And if I compare Scolari's merits to those of Mourinho and AG - and when I compare why Mourinho was sacked and why Grant was sacked than I have to admit the board and Roman have been very, very lenient towards Scolari. Mourinho and Grant haven't lead the team to a similar stage but have been sacked. If Scolari can rise the team on the level Grant has brought them in January then he'd be a hero already. It saddens me, it hurts me admitting that all his coaching has made AG even seem to be a "not-so-bad" manager. I'm neither lobbying for nor against Scolari or any other manager, actually I'm strongly opposing the thought sacking him now and bringing in another. I agree with many posters here that Scolari needs time to build up his team and his system. YES. But as I've also said once before - the first months are over now and still Scolari hasn't proved much that he's worth the confidence of the board and the fans. Of course we don't know whom Scolari is targeting right now at the moment. We just know what the tabloids say and well, that this isn't a reliable source - that's clear to us all. But if just a tiny piece of all the r'bbish what's written on the pages is true - just to name some: Owen, Heskey, a lot Portuguese/Brazilian players and ROBINHO (still!!!!!!!!!!) then it's no surprise to me that there is hardly interest in handing him the cash for them.

He did something last season. Most famous to remember his performance against ManU at Stamford Bridge and some vitals goals, e.g. against Aston Villa. But agree this season he's just crap till now.

At the moment all that could console us and our poor performance at home is just we're not much worse than scum. But on the downside they'd have won that match because I'm sure Riley would've give them the penalty if it weren't f*t frank but steffi gerry in the box.

Redknapp joins Chelsea
Same here with German commentators, though concerning Chelsea this has improved a lot since a certain well-loved German player joined us ... at least they don't come up with "the scum deserves winning the league this year". Don't know who said it but my TV was lucky that I didn't jump in after I've heard this. I know my TV is innocent. However there are certain moments in my life where I'm even too stupid to realize this.

PL, Chelsea vs West Ham, 14/12/08, 1600 GMT
Sometimes I'm asking myself why we need a referee. Why we need Riley at all. I used to think the task of a referee was to be NEUTRAL. So after conceding that goal with some handball-doubts on it and after a penalty has been denied I beginning to ask myself another time why we need a referee. The game couldn't have gone worse without him. [irony] How good that 7000+ have quit [/irony]

January Strikers - who is available
What a pity. He would've been a great addition to the final stages. But anyway he'd be a great addition. It was a pity he didn't join us in the summer. I had hoped to when I heard the rumours Roman might have persuaded him. What a pity he didn't

I agree with abramovich that Arshavin is a decent choice for us. He's fast, creative and a versatile attacking player given him the space - I think his ability and skills will do us good. And he's willing to leave. Podolski is cup tied (Arshavin isn't?? No idea on this) and they're definitely not letting him go in January though the relationship between him and the club is worse than worst
