Posted December 13, 200816 yr Barcelona turned Real Madrid over 2-0 tonight (OK the second goal wasn't until the last minute but they thoroughly deserved it as Real showed up with no ambition whatsoever). From the very first minute of the game Real seemed to have one objective and one objective only - boot the living crap out of Messi (especially Ramos who could easily have been sent off and probably should have been) - he was superb and capped it all with the second goal which was a very calmly taken chip over Casillas (who made some stunning saves to keep Real in the match) .
December 13, 200816 yr Messi's goal was an absolute peach. An amazing through ball followed by a perfect chip... pure, pure class.
December 13, 200816 yr Great to see Guddy playing a big part in Barca's season so far. Didn't see much of the game cos I was watching a stunning vocalist on X-Factor (thoroughly deserved win and I don't care what anyone thinks of me for watching it cos Alexandra's performances are more than worth the ridicule).
December 13, 200816 yr I just finished watching too, my spanish is a bit rusty, but I think they said Barca had over 70% possesion. And Messi was great, Canavarro went straight into the post defending that chip, looked painful.
December 13, 200816 yr Luckily my Japanese isn't quite so rusty  The stream I was watching said Barca had 70+% possession as well.
December 13, 200816 yr Saw the first 45 minutes, watched the Klitschko "fight" and then caught the last 15 minutes, the amount of malicious kicks Messi took in the first half was ludicrous, Fergie should reassess his view that Ronaldo doesn't get enough protection as he's positively wrapped in cotton wool compared to Messi if tonight was anything to go on.
December 14, 200816 yr Casillas saved a penalty, otherwise it could be 3-4 goals. I dont fancy playing against Barca anytime soon, especially if Messi is playing.
December 14, 200816 yr I don't like Messi but the kid's got some talent and I wouldn't be too disappointed if we signed him.
December 14, 200816 yr I love the El Classico! Messi is the best player in the world, easy. No he's not , Ronaldo is , i know because a Manyooo fan told me and i also read it in a newspaper.
December 14, 200816 yr I still give best player in the world to Ronaldo on last seasons form, but only a fool would think Messi is not right on his heels for the title. And yes, the ref was a huge asshole for not giving him any fouls, and then when Barca came in with a cynical revenge tackle they would get whistled I watched the last half hour of this game and it was some scintillating theatre. Real looked like they were being run ragged outside of the odd longball the tried to pump forward. When they finally won that deserved penalty (Salgado was total crap) they were hi fiving and celebrating as if to say "Yes, we finally did it". Then San Iker robbed them. And robbed them again, twice, five minutes later on two shots that wouldve beat most keepers. Madrid really are a band of c**ts, but I have to love Casillas and how huge he can make himself. Reminds me of the old Cech All in all, Barca definitely good for their victory. I was sad that that asshole Eto'o got it, but it seems like they might have really put Madrid in a hole. Eurosport actually used the words "Madrid's season is over" and they are 12 off the pace, but its a long season. they have made comebacks before An important thing to note, in my mind, was that Ramos kept them hanging on for 80 minutes, after winning his first game in midweek handily. I wonder if Real will really let him stay on to show what he can do with a fully fit team, because, really, he hasnt done bad so far. El classico wouldve been a no win scenario for the likes of Lippi, nevermind Juande Ramos
December 14, 200816 yr Old coach Schuster was alright when he predicted it would be impossible to win. So why did they sack him when he was alright :D
December 15, 200816 yr Its no surprise Real is poorly run, but they were foolish to sack Schuster, imo. He took the hemlock with his comments about el classico because he knew what was going to happen. He had been great for them last year If you lose your best striker and midfield engine, as well as Robben, Pepe and Sneijder (probably their best winger, defender and attacking mid players) out for the first part of the season, your coach is not going to work a miracle with what he has left. That was half their starting lineup gone for the beginning of the season. And yet still their results were good in the early going and then went sour That combined with Barca's revival this year shouldve lowered the boards expectations. Just like us when we saw Carvalho, Drogba, Essien and J. Cole drop like flies. But of course we are one point off the pace, and they are 12 and on the verge of collapse already.
December 15, 200816 yr Funnily enough, Messi was very lively for the first 15 minutes but Madrid's constant fouling of him, in particular the clever little stamps on his achilles, did have an effect because he drifted out of the game for the most part after that. Madrid came with a game plan and it very nearly worked for them. In fact they could and should have been ahead but for a couple of terrific saves from Valdes.

Like any great player though, he stuck at it and got his reward with a well taken goal at the end. I know there is zilch chance of him ever coming to Chelsea but if only.......................
December 15, 200816 yr Yeah with our penny pinching was <_< .. I would love to see Messi at Chelsea, we will probably pay him a fortune when he is in his mid 30's

Don't get me wrong Nibs, I'd have him at Chelsea in a heartbeat. He is just the sort of player who can make the difference in matches like yesterday.

December 15, 200816 yr compare how he got kicked all over the pitch, battled through and scored to how the whinging little f**kwit who won player of the year acted a few weeks ago. gets a coule of knocks then minces of the pitch without even waiting for a sub to get on. i know which one id rather have at chelsea, and it isnt the greasy little toe rag.

Are you talking of Joe Cole ? Because if you do, we disagree on the phrase "little toe rag".
December 15, 200816 yr Are you talking of Joe Cole ? Because if you do, we disagree on the phrase "little toe rag". Must be on about Ronaldo, Joey Cole doesn't whine!
December 16, 200816 yr Are you talking of Joe Cole ? Because if you do, we disagree on the phrase "little toe rag". talking about ronaldo, thought that was obvious what with me calling him a f**kwit and toe rag
December 16, 200816 yr talking about ronaldo, thought that was obvious what with me calling him a f**kwit and toe rag :D In that case, let me add: he is a nasty, slimey, corny, self-possessed excuse for a footballer. There, that's better. :D
