The Rafa Benitez Thread (merged)
Personally I feel sad that RDM was dismissed in the way he was as he is a Chelsea legend IMHO. However, if I'm totally honest - and despite all he did last season - I couldn't see him achieving much this one. At the end of the day what's done is done, and nothing will change that. For the good of the club I believe we'll have to get behind Benitez, and you never know he might just have what it takes.

Should have taken that chance, Fernando!

Did Roman sack managers too quickly?
I always felt bad about the way that Carlo Ancelloti was treated and I now feel similarly about AVB. I don't think it makes sense, having got rid of AVB, to replace him with De Matteo - albeit only to the end of the season. I know RDM's been a loyal Chelsea servant in the past but he didn't particularly set WBA ablaze and was, after all, AVB's right hand man until today. Surely it would have made sense to leave AVB until the end of the season. Just my humble opinion.

AVB - who's behind him?
I really cannot see that the blues have any alternative at this moment but continue with AVB. We have had so may manager changes during recent yearsand dearly need a period of sustained stability. If we accept the fact that we have to stick with AVB for the foreseeable future then, In a sense, it's a case of all or nothing and AVB should be allowed to pursue his project more rigourosly and be given carte blanche to move on any player who doesn't wish to be part of this. If - as he claims - he has the ear of Roman this shouldn't be a problem for him.

Chelsea v Man Utd (PL) 05/02/12 KO 16:00 GMT
Like everyone else I'm devastated we gave up that 3 - 0 lead, although I'm not surprised it happened as we always look vulnerable these days. The only, very small, consolation is that we ensured those Red tossers are still two points behind Man City!

Wolves vs Chelsea | 2 Jan | KO 1500 Hrs GMT
I thought it was a good performance, particularly when you consider that Wolves have recently turned over some good teams at Molyneaux.I thought several of our boys had a good game, including Torres. I do find it frustrating, however, how many times we lose possession by lacklustre passing.

Chelsea v Aston villa(PL) 31/12/11 KO 15:00 GMT
I think we can forget any notion of Chelsea attaining anything this season - apart from a mid-table position! This a team very much in transition, with many ageing players requiring replacement and it's probably going to take a couple of seasons to get through this. Although I've never been certain that AVB was a good choice I think we should stick with him for the foreseeable future as the constant changing of managers only adds to the confusion and uncertainty. This obviously going to be a difficult time but I think we're just going to have to 'grit our teeth' and see it through.

Chelsea v Man City (PL) 12/12/11 KO 20:00 GMT
Saw the game from the Shed lower and was impressed at the 'gutsy' performance from the Chels. The support from the Chelsea faithfull around the Bridge was fantastic. Thought I saw a bit of aggro in the Shed Upper at the end of the game, but I could be wrong due to my advancing years and the fact I was dancing to 'One Step Beyond' at the time

Anelka and Alex
I'm sorry to see that Anelka is on his way. It was obviously only a matter of time, but I did like watching him play when he was on form.

AVB - who's behind him?
I would like to see AVB given the rest of the season to see if his formula works, as I believe this constant turnover of Managers benefits no one.

Chelsea v. Liverpool (LC) 29/11/2011 KO. 19:45 BST
For long periods of the game we held on to the ball and put the Scousers under a fair bit of pressure, but seemed to have no one up front capable of going at them - such as a Saurez or a Nani. I agree with some of the previous comments, that our current problems are going to take a while to rectify and that we are just going to have to 'tough it out'.
