  1. You said we should sign Hulk and have Sturridge for a back up to Torres after Lukaku was loaned - you want me to dig out that post as well? Hulk is not a striker he is a wide forward like Moses, never in his life played as a striker. You are optimistic about Torres, yet you go out of your way to say Sturridge can't even make it in Liverpool's side, isn't good enough to lead our line despite never being given a chance to do so. That's what I call double standards, based on the last 3 years, Sturridge has a better goal to minute ratio; doesn't have a bloated tally due to scoring braces/ hattricks against pub sides; actually managed to score 9 goals last season that were Game Changing Goals compared to Torres's one goal against Swansea; match against City was as good as any game Torres has played for us; was one of our best performers for half a season; outscored our combined strike force(Drogba/Anelka/Torres) for half a season while on loan at Bolton. Yet seemingly to you he doesn't deserve the benifit of the doubt the way you've been optimistic about Torres for 2 years despite him scoring one goal in half a season when he joined; and going 24 hours without a goal the very next season.
  2. You want me to dig up your post before the start of the season, you've changed your tune now that Torres has played close to 2500 minutes in half a season. But at the same time after 320 minutes you're willing to write off Sturridge, that's what I call double standards. I bet my you 20 quid I can find a post from you in the summer where you've said that Torres should be given a chance till the winter to prove himself. Hope the quote below clears up what I meant the post is from you and was Posted 28 May 2012 - 10:53 AM
  3. He doesn't want to say because he was never given a fare crack, simples. Thinking he won't get 20 matches at LFC during half a season is also well off the mark, he will play when fit for half a season and if he ends up having a similar goals to minutes ratio as he has maintained over the course of the last 3 years he will no doubt cement his position. If Torres is good enough to be given numerous chances by posters such as yourself, I don't see why such double standards need to be applied to Sturridge.
  4. My main fear is that we sell him and end up signing two worse players like Gomis and Remy to replace him.
  5. Well it was pretty obvious last season as well, yet he somehow ended up Player of the Season it seems, and if I could see results in the polls this year(haven't voted too many times personally), I'd bet that he has the most votes and MOTM awards thus far this season(on course for player of the Season again ). People convinced themselves that selling Drogba and letting Torres be the main man will somehow miraculously turn him into the player we watched 3 years ago at Liverpool.
  6. Against MU in the CoCup he setup Moses 3 times, two of the chances he setup for Moses were 100% goals if Victor had aimed the ball instead of taking a page out of Torres's book of finishing. But people will always focus on the two wild and idiotic shots he took from a the byline. Also as I've mentioned he was on the bench for 14 matches which is around 1300 minutes and played a total of 320 minutes, a third of that time was in one match against United during which Torres was banned. His only other start was against West Brom - where apart from his finishing(he did force good saves from their keeper), he was one of the better players in the squad. It's no wonder that after West Brom RdM was going to start him against Juve before he got injured. I've always felt that RdM didn't have a say regarding our striker position, he had no say in bringing in another one; he didn't get a say in keeping Lukaku around; he didn't get a say in the Drogba/Kalou transfers. This is my opinion, it's not a fact but I guess in due time RdM will be able to talk about it unless he has a none disclosure agreement
  7. Wonder if he is on course to win player of the season 2012 / 2013 I'd bet my knickers on him being far ahead of the chasing pack.
  8. Are you serious he was voted player of the season for 2011 / 2012
  9. If United were facing Leeds in the Capital One Cup would they play RvP up top?
  10. No it's the boards fault for giving Torres free reign over the club and basing our entire season around a player who is past his best, instead of admitting their mistake like we did with Sheva; Veron; etc. If Torres was for example rested for some of our easier games which top teams usually do with their "star" players and we had Lukaku or Sturridge up top against the likes of Genk; Leicester City; QPR; Nords; Wolves; Monterrey etc his tally would be an absolute joke. The only reason he was played in such games is to inflate his tally so he gains some confidence, except it doesn't work - why because he is has not been a top striker in the last 3 years. It's frankly pathetic that I'm expected to be happy with the current situation. What's even more pathetic that after a summer in which Torres was making waves about his role demanding to be an automatic starter in the club - you feel I have no foundation to blame him after he is failing to do his job, because other players are also struggling. Except for the fact that Hazard; Mikel; Mata; Oscar etc aren't the ones that have made PUBLIC demands about zero competition for their spots, and aren't played EVERY GAME they are available, all have been rested in certain matches.
  11. Boo hoo, poor Torres being called names on a footballing forum, what has the World come to - it's really the end of the World as the Mayans Predicted. Seriously though, Torres brought this onto himself - he demanded the spotlight and clarification after the CL Final, he got our board to agree to build a team around him this season with no Drogba/Kalou/Anelka/Lukaku to steal his thunder. His only opponent for the striker position was injured and used only once in fourteen games he was available for in his place and only because Torres was banned for that game. The board are going to take 100% of the blame because they agreed with this idiotic plan to put out a team based around a striker who just 6 months ago was experiencing a 24 hour goal drought; who couldn't do anything worthwhile when Drogba was away on International duty and was replaced by a 34 year old once again for our biggest games. As I've said previously they should all be sacked for going a long with this plan, and sacking a manager and bringing in another just in the wild hope that he turns around this Torres fiasco.
  12. Didn't notice that the thread was so old
  13. You're having a laugh, 27 year old who is an average striker at best - before we bought Drogba he had lead OM to the Uefa Cup Final; he was one of the strongest players you could buy to hold up the ball; his technique was far more developed despite being a late bloomer. Gomis is just another Chamakh, the fact that he has hit a rich vain of form this season doesn't mean anything he is a player who won't be much of an upgrade to Torres. No chance I'd pay anything over 10 million for him. 2009–10 Ligue 37 appearances 10 goals 2010–11 Ligue 35 appearances 10 goals 2011–12 Ligue 35 appearances 14 goals 2012–13 Ligue 14 appearance 10 goals
  14. ---------------Cech-------------- Ivan-----Luiz----Terry----Cole ---------------Mikel---------------- -----Ramires------Oscar-------- Hazard----------------------Mata --------------Sturridge----------
  15. Spot on, first to the chopping board are the Board. After we won the CL a certain Spanish player, questioned our management, questioned his role, questioned the happiest night for millions of fans around the World. Instead of telling this Spanish player to pack his bags after a season during which he went 24 hours without a goal. The Board decided it is a good idea to let Drogba, Anelka and Kalou go while not signing a replacement; let Lukaku go on loan; fail to sign another striker and obviously not give a chance to Sturridge cause Torres needs to play 90 minutes every game, except for one match he was banned. Same inept board who later fired our CL and FA Cup winning manager after the first game he had balls to drop the passenger from the side. They hired FSW to manage us who polarized our fans and made them question the club. Board should be sacked, they can't wash their hands with FSW.
  16. After you've seen the countless things we've done to try to get the best out of Torres, are you going to be surprised we brought in a care taker in the hope he rekindles a supposedly biggest transfer made by the board in recent years; a player who is the 7th best paid one in the World ; who we don't have a chance of selling unless we pay part of his wage or he agrees to a massive pay cut? Especially when you remember that the last few care takers we've had were Grant and RdM, people with very little experience
  17. That it took Torres a few performances against object opposition before he had a go at RdM. If you think that getting Torres back in form isn't a part of the decision is absolutely off the mark. Especially in a season during which he has played virtually every game when he was available despite his form; a season before which we let go of Anelka; Drogba; Kalou without signing replacements; letting Lukaku go on loan because it's obvious he would not have had a chance here; playing Sturridge in one game out of 14 in Torres's place only because Torres was banned. Bringing in the type of players who were going to create chances for Torres instead of looking for alternatives. Than our board bring in the one coach who made Torres look like a World Class striker for a couple of seasons, despite him being possibly the most hated figure out of all possible coaches we could have brought in. To actually think that's not a part of the decision is laughable, considering the huge decision we have made just to get Torres firing over the last 2 years.
  18. FSW on Torres "He had the chances and scored a disallowed goal, but you must take chances in a final as it's not easy to create many. He was winning a lot of balls in the air, he was fresh and you could see he is improving." Wonder if he said it with a troll face
  19. Inter won the CWC with Rafa as "manager", Matrix seems to think differently
  20. It's obvious it was apart of the decision. As soon as we won a couple of games against some abject opposition he came out with this gem, and through out his appointment Rafa has pointed the finger at anyone else but Torres.
  21. How much we paid is besides the point, the board deciding this summer that after his 24 hours without a goal he is good enough to be an automatic first choice at a club which just won the CL is a joke. Literally any half decent striker would have been an upgrade including Sturridge.
