Absolutely spot on Chippy with regard to Tevez. A class act who scores important goals as well. What not a lot of people remember is the little fella won South American player of the year three years on the bounce before he signed for West Ham. Throw in I believe the Argentine Sportsman of the year, which footballers rarely achieve, his upbringing, the scar that from a child could have affected him in the future. We have signed some players in the past, without looking into their background, without looking at their mental strength as well as their ability. You know what you get with Tevez and you get it in abundance.

A gamble I know, but from an ex pro .... Tevez now 6/4 fav from 3/1 to join us.
  4. It was mentioned on the open top bus parade by Peter Kenyon when interviewed by Chelsea TV. It later went out on sky. From memory Kenyon stated .... "Yes, we have watched Carlos Tevez, at this stage we will not go down that avenue but if a player such as Shevchenko becomes available we will definately be interested." We promptly then signed Ballack and Shevchenko and I take no satisfaction at all in saying that I probably hit it home as much as i've slated Peter Kenyon, that it would cost us our league title and let Man Utd in the back door.
  5. Don't despair, if fate plays a part he was Romans first signing and we all know what happened in a couple of years that followed!
  6. We are talking to him, along with 'other clubs' ('according to sky') Like everyone I guess signing Tevez would not only be a major coup but would blood the noses of Manure fans, Liverpool and the pretenders in Man City. Like I said years ago anyway, Tevez could and should have been signed before he went to West Ham, but we chose to sign Shevchenko at our cost. It's on sky now about Deco and Carvalho. I reckon Johnson will end up at Liverpool but if Man City manage to nick Tevez don't be surprised if he goes there. One thing is for sure, if we do get Tevez I will give Kenyon a bit of credit , for it will be negotiating nouse that will get him. Portsmouth fans and both Terry and Ashley Cole have been raving about the improvement in Johnsen, sure the recommendation has also came Ancellotti's way from Capello, I for one am not going to argue about that but will use the right not to endorse it, unless of course as i've said before Bosingwa is part of a carrot to nail Ribery. Ribery Drogba Tevez looks bloody good to me.
  7. According to a reliable source on CFC net, we have put in a 18 mill offer for Glen Johnsen, Deco and Ricky talking to Inter and us to Tevez this week.
  8. That isn't a bad shout on the Ribery case, know it was only Andorra, but Johnson was very effective going forward and defensively he is on a par with Bosingwa. Plus with JT and Ashley we'd virtually have England's back four. Technically Capello is astute in defence as in attack, it might help us in the long run at club level, the double Italian job if you like. (In the mad world that it is, some tabloids are even reporting Arjen Robben being available for wait for it .... 7 million!)
  9. Are you Kenyon's secret love child .... ;)
  10. He couldn't lay straight in bed let alone nobble my bird ! Beloved he is clearly not mate, But sorry I can't give it a rest, Kenyon is in charge of contracts and club negotiations regarding transfers. He shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as a Colin Hutchinson or a Trevor Birch and to think Roman trusted Birch enough to sign (and he did quietly and honestly and with integrity) his early players. Can only deal with facts and they are in my post .... surely ????????
  11. Second guessing Chelsea Football Club with Peter Kenyon dealing with transfers and contracts is an impossibility! If we look at the bare facts .... Didier Drogba is facing a lengthy European ban. An injury to Nicholas Anelka, IF we signed Sturridge, could see us playing the likes of a Real Madrid with Ronaldo, Kaka, Villa ( sure to go there - Chelsea never an option ) and whoever else with a kid who cannot get in Man City's team on a regular basis in our firing line. THEREFORE WE NEED A STRIKER 100% We faced Barcelona without a recognised left back in the Nou Camp, it worked on the night but a club of our stature need left back cover. This cover cannot be in the Wayne Bridge mould, otherwise we will be back to square one. WE NEED ASHLEY COLE'S CONTRACT SORTED AND COVER FOR LEFT BACK 100% We have an ageing look to our squad WE SHOULDN'T ENTERTAIN ANY PLAYER OVER THE AGE OF 27 100% Since Arjen Robben left ( Wonder what he'll be doing in the summer ) We have lacked inspiration and real width. WE NEED A TRUE WINGER 100% Though it was a mistake (Not for the first time I hasten to add) Adidas Ballack ... was signed by Dear Peter when it should have been Adios Bollarks. LAMPS WILL NOT RUN ON FOR EVER - WE NEED A HUNGRY YOUNG MIDFIELDER WITH MAYBE A LITTLE PATIENCE 100% Manchester United will soon have 80 Million burning away in their pocket ... WE HAVE TO ACT QUICKLY 100% Other than that unlike in Jose's barren years we have cover at the back centraly, Mancienne is ready, we have Terry, Alex, Ivanovic, two of these players are capable right backs. WE HAVE THE OPTION TO KEEP OR SELL CARVALHO AND FERREIRA 100% Deco wants out get him out ... JOEY COLE IS COMING BACK 100% We need competitive cover between the sticks .... WE NEED A KEEPER 100% . If Peter Kenyon is true to his word there is no doubt Chelsea want and who Hiddink has recommended .... ZHIRCOV is 25 .... Can play out wide and is ideal left back cover for Ashley thus not a Wayne Bridge type forever waiting in the wings. DZAGOEV is 18 .... A young midfielder in the Lampard mould who is biding his time in the National team. That's the only concrete information we have. I spoke at length with Jason Cundy at Chelsea's Player of the year ... He agreed with all my points ... even if we were both hammered ! RIBERY is available at a price BENZEMA is available at a price But when was the last time KENYON NAILED A CONTRACT OR A PLAYER (Adidas Ballack apart) in the speed Real Madrid nailed Kaka and soon to be Ronaldo ? We all know it won't happen, ok maybe Sturridge and Turnball whatever his name is as a keeper from Middlesbro. but a world class talent we desperately need ;)
  12. If it's true that's us £f**ked then

    For United now
  14. Sorry, I never expanded on the "fact we are Chelsea" point. What I meant was clubs are reluctant to sell us their top players, not players wanting to come to Chelsea or not, because we are a threat. What makes me laugh and indeed what makes Europe laugh ( and let's not for a moment think Arneson is doing anything with negotiating transfers as the press say !) since we signed Ballack and in particular Shevchenko we have lost our credibility in the transfer market, indeed the fact the first thing we done as the season closed was getting Ballack signed up ? Yet Ashley Cole is yet to be sorted - madness ! Who would bet Milan try to flog us the ageing Seedorf or Pirlo and we'd fall for it ? I'd put my money on that rather them selling us Pato, the same as when we bought Sheva they weren't exactly keen to talk about Kaka were they ? What Kenyon doesn't grasp and Trevor Birch and Colin Hutchinson did, is the fact you keep your negotiations quiet, dignified and with a surprise element that puts your rivals to the sword. RONALDO WILL SIGN FOR MADRID BTW
  15. 1. Best Chelsea Player: Frank Lampard 2. Worst Chelsea Player: Ballack, can someone explain why he got a swift contract - past his best from day 'kin one! 3. Best Opposing Player: Inestia 4. Three Hopes For 2009/2010 PETER KENYON TO £f**k OFF, Ancellotti to start like Jose, My grandchild to be to be a Chelsea fan not a Manc!
  16. It's pointless discussing these type of transfers to Chelsea. Peter Kenyon as i've said in the past has no creditability in the Top Level of football. As a club we are seen as a threat in Europe, our record in the Champions League has seen to that. More than a threat of any team in Italy and apart from Barcelona any club and that includes Real Madrid! Kaka was never on our agenda, had he been, he would have still gone to Real Madrid because of their history and standing in the world of football and the fact we are Chelsea. AC Milan know Kenyon is a mug, the majority know he is sneaky and cannot keep his gob shut. Shevchenko past the sell by date yes, Pato in his teens and approaching world acclaim not a chance! Lets not forget Milan beat us to his signature in the first place!! As you know Kenyon told my fiance' that we were going to buy Zhircov and his mate, it's a safe bet in my opinion because they play in Russia and even he cannot £f**k that one up!! Villa for me 27 or 28 ? Nailed on for Madrid and only three or four years left at the very top. As a premiership type player i'm not sure anyway. While Madrid are weighing up a bid for Ronaldo, Kenyon should be negotiating for Ribery and Benzema and tying up the Russians. Still had we signed Tevez and not Sheva when we had the chance we wouldn't be debating transfers, probably would have been kings of europe, and not had four more managers in that time.
  17. Firstly let me say what a great night. The wine and beer flowed all night and thanks must go to JT, Frankie Lampard, Di Santo, Mancienne and Scott Sinclair sticking around till 0100 in the morning ! Plus Ashley Cole and Petr Cech for staying till midnight ! Had some great chats with Jason Cundy ( who was wrecked as much as me !) and Super Kenny Monkou, though everyone was in the dark about our next manager, Peter Kenyon did let it slip to my fiance' that we were looking at signing Zirchov and Dzagoev. Typical Peter, couldn't keep his mouth shut in the presence of a gorgeous girl :)
  18. Just, guess we all know what you feel like mate. Just a thought though, had we had an Anfield type Champions League crowd behind us maybe just maybe the ref would have had to give us a penalty. I've not been to a home game since Boxing Day, been away but never again at home. From the Stewards to the Muppets Stamford Bridge just isn't the same anymore. Still like you, cannot help thinking the powers that be wanted a Man Utd/Barca final. As for Powers ... Paddy Power refunded all stakes on Chelsea today, shame Betfair didnt do the same !
  19. Last remember knocking back my 10th Zambooka ........... And nearly thumping a Liverpool fan Obviously caused a stir, apologise to anyone I offended, just call me Didier Drogba in disquise !!
  20. Didier Drogba with his head on is simply unplayable. Even in his early days at the Bridge, when he was ridiculed by many Chelsea fans, both on these forums, in pub's close to the ground and indeed on the terraces, I knew this was a player that would deliver on the big stage. Many people didn't give him enough credit when we won the league two years on the bounce, an only striker on many occasions with Duff and Robben providing the width. For me pound for pound he's been the best striker Chelsea football Club has ever had. The way he ended Sendoros's career at Arsenal is proof that Centre Halves can be judged at the top level against him to prove their worth. When we needed a striker back then I was in the South of France on vacation, my mate took me to a Marseille game and he scored two goals and ran the opposition ragged, their fans chanted his name constantly throughout the game, he thrived on it. In the pubs afterward fans told me he was their best ever player and no defender in France could handle him. I wanted him out after the Man Utd game away this season, his body language said he wanted out, his antics when getting sent off in the Euro Cup Final angered me, maybe he not JT should have taken all the press flak. But now, the Drog is back and like his days in France he is getting plaudits again, this surely is the key to making him tick - support !!! Scolari never did, Hiddink like Jose has got him going again, great players deliver in BIG GAMES, the guy always shows up when it matters and that should never be forgotten. If you ask any centre half in the world what Centre Forward they hate facing, the name of Didier Drogba will come out of their mouths. BRING ON BARCA !!!!!
  21. Star replied to bjd's topic in General Chelsea FC
Kalou to me is more suited to a central role, saying that, I agree and along with Malouda should go at the seasons end. Arsenal is his likely destination but I have a hunch Malouda will still reside here. Hiddink gave valid reasons why we play 4-3-3 last night, with opposition full backs pushing on etc and Liverpool playing two wide with Torres alone like Drogba. What we saw last night in the second half proved beyond doubt Drogba in the mood is unplayable. But we need class above everything out wide to compete at the top level. Stoch and Kakuta are for the future, but as mentioned how long do we give a player time to show his true quality ? Just look at Scott Sinclair as an example and he is yet to break into the first team like Kalou. Unlike Diarra who excelled at full back in Jose's time here in Europe and was never given a real chance by either us or Arsenal in his prefered role, Kalou is terribly inconsistent. IT STILL bugs me we never bought a player to replace Arjen Robben and while I wonder what wonders Hiddink would do with Joey Cole, we simply have to get Ribery in the summer if we want to improve our TEAM as opposed to squad for all our recent purchases or loans have failed to convince or done enough for the manager to pencil him in like a Lampard, Terry or Essien.
  22. For me it's a straight choice of two. CARVALHO OR IVANOVIC. If Bosingwa is fit i'd go with Ivanovic. I just knew this scenerio was going to hit us, with Alves overlapping on the right and Messi cutting inside for the majority of the time we may have to double up in an unconventional way. Ivanovic has a positive on Messi that he is strong and right footed, thus being able to comfortable as he could be with him cutting inside. Essien patrolling the zone maybe on the left side but springing the attack for all of Barecelona's attacking flair they are vunerable in defence. Ricky is cute as we all know in the tackle, he could do a job as well. All in all it's gonna be some game !
  23. Nobody could predict the impact Guus Hiddink has made in his short time at the helm, or the luck that has followed him during his career that has brought a fit Michael Essien to the fore, an injury to Jose Bosingwa that brought Ivanovic into the team which resulted in what can easily be described as one of our best ever performances in our demolition of the scoucers in their own back yard. Forgive me of thinking Barcelona v Chelsea, as a Chelsea fan of many a year and indeed Liverpool's ability to conjour up victories against top class opposition when it was not thought possible, yep i'm worried *still* about Tuesday night! My real concern is a booking to Ashley Cole. Imagine Messi running riot in the Nou Camp ? My mind flicks back to Del Horno at the Bridge, how we need our full backs to defend against them. In Ivanovic we have a player (I said as much on his debut earlier in the season, he reminds me of a Chappie Ferrer with height !) a right back to combat a Henry, but if the odds suggest we play them in the Semi without a recognised left back we could be in trouble. It will take a lot for Ashely to go through the next possible three games without a booking, the geezer took a lot of stick from all quarters when he signed from the gooners, but he has proved to be one of our most consistent performers, a crying shame if he missed Barca, and god forbid the final !
  24. I like Ryan Bertrand, but comparing him to Mancienne in terms of development would make me feel an injury to Ashley would leave us in a worrying position. For me Mancienne is great cover for right back and very close to challenging for a permanent starting position at the heart of our defence. For that reason i'd let Ferreira go, It's a good point why Zhirkov when Ribery in an ideal world was in a blue shirt, guess I don't really know but i've a hunch the cover for Ashley has to be someone who can play elsewhere otherwise why would he want to be in a Wayne Bridge situation? The Club has to get the right balance for sure, as Europe goes it is all getting too obvious the powers that be are looking to get homegrown players through. Not a bad idea at all, something we should be ready for with all the money we've put into youth development. But we need freshness about us for a start and as you say maybe a passing midfielder, thought Jack Cork might be that player one day but i'm not so sure anymore.
