Mr Chelsea
its nearly the end of the season will there be a mass exodus from the bridge?? and who who would you like to see at the bridge? i think drogba, lampard, sheva, pizzario, swp will be on there way, hopefully malouda will bugger off to and depending where jose ends up rikky c, and joe cole, whom i think will be prime targets for jose (hopefully they will stay) i would like to see crouch and bentley at the bridge, and taylor from newcastle, i'm sure they could all become firm favourites with the faithful
loz
I don't see Joe going anywhere and my suspicion is that Frank will eventually sign a very lucrative deal. Drogba it seems will be on his way and for me I don't think that is such a bad thing. He wants away and he looks like a player who wants away, basically playing for himself as if he is in the shop window. As for the other names you mention (i.s. Sheva, Pizarro, SWP and Malouda) I can maybe see Malouda staying purely on the grounds that I can't see anyone offering him anything like the wages we will be paying him, especially after the season he has had. As for your players in I have to say I am not keen on Bentley. Mainly because we lack pace at the moment and lack of pace is something he suffers from as well. Pretty tough to come up with credible suggestions to be honest as I feel quality wingers are few and far between just now. Crouch I don't want purely because if he plays we will just resort to hoofing the ball toward him every time we get it.

mad_mac
I really doubt jose would go looking for Joe cole; a player he often berated for showing any flare and subbed at the drop of a hat
ethicalstrategy
Did he berate for showing flair? I thought that the times he had a go at him were usually when he lost the ball in dangerous areas or neglected his team defensive duties. Do agree that it's unlikely he would want to sign him though or that Joe would want to play for him.
mad_mac
I think the following will leave: Lampard, Drogba, Essien, Paulo, Bridge, Malouda I am not saying that they should leave, just that I feel they might! I think Lamps will leave because it has been on the cards for a while, not that I want him to leave. I also think Malouda will leave to join another French club (arsenal)
Gem
In? Oooh lets see... Messi, Kaka, Huntelaar, Van Der Vaart, Bojan, Villa, Pato, Eto'o, Torres, Ronaldo......... Out: Malouda, Ben-Haim, Pizarro, Malouda... I'd keep Sidwell.
Guest
I doubt Malouda will be joining Arsenal, he just doesn't strike me as a Wenger type of signing. Benitez (assuming his still at the club, which appears to be unlikely) may and i mean may rekindle his previous interest.
bjd
There is no point in speculating who will will get in at this stage, it could be anyone! Players out is a bit easier. I predict at the end of the season we will see the back of: Drogba Shev Pizarro SWP Bridge Ben Haim Sidwell (most utterley pointless signing since Pierre Issa) 3 strikers there. Which mean im sure we will be getting at least two in the Summer. I just hope we do our work before the Euros because prices will go up big time afterwards. Like Loz, im sure Frank will end up signing. The way he has been playing though i have to say he wont be missed if he goes, we would get to change the way we play a bit as well. c3blu
I've said it before about Drogba that i'd like him to stay(but only if his heart is in it) he will take some replacing. Dont want Lampard to leave, although he has not had the best of seasons by his own VERY high standards but he has still scored another 20 this year from midfield a feat that he has some how made the norm other the last few years and believe me its anything but normal for a midfielder. I remember Scholes did it once, and was the best thing since sliced bread. I dont see the point in selling a world class striker/midfielder and replacing them with someone else because if you do that you hav'nt gained anything. In fact given that players need settling in time you actually lose out initailly. (I know this all depends on the players themselves, its pointless keeping somebody who does'nt want to know). When looking to strengthen in the summer i would'nt look at the first team but the fringe players. Get rid of players who are not cutting it and replace them with players who are going to push players currently holding down a position all the way for their place, or better still much better than the current occupant who in turn becomes the back up.(I know this is easier said than done given the quality already in the first team) Thats how to strengthen the squad and the first team at the same time. evissy
OUT: Sidwell, Ben Haim, Drogba, Shevchenko, maybe Paolo.. IN: Gomez, Huntelaar, VDV or Modric etc, Alves. Sidwell just is in a totally wrong place IMO. He made a wrong move. He should go to either Spuds, Everton or Blackburn. Ben Haim just is not good enough to be selected before Alex, Riccy or Terry. If two of those get injured the manager probably thinks Essien before BenHaim.
kalpitv
By my reckoning... OUT : Drogba, Sheva, Pizarro, Sidwell, Ben-Haim and SWP. IN : Huntelaar/Villa, Sulejmani, Caceres etc.
dreadis
This is more/less my wishlist: OUT: DD, Sheva, Pizarro, Sidwell, TBH, Malouda, Belletti IN: Hutelaar, Villa, Van der Vaart, Alves Prerequisite is, of course, AG! Couldn't stand, mentally, having him as our manager for another year! One thing that will make mi sad is seeing Clarke leave, especially knowing that Top Cat will stay! On the other hand, would love to see Clarke as a manager soon in one of the premiership sides!
Dorset
Players out:- Drogba, Sheva, Pizarro, Malouda, Ben Haim and possibly SWP, although this is likely to depend more on him wanting to go [trying to nail down an England place] and not us pressing to get rid. For different reasons, either contractual problems or wanting a fresh challenge, Lamps might also want away and, whilst I didn’t think I’d ever say it, his body language of late is not good. Players in:- If three strikers go, I think only two will be brought in and Franco di Santo will be promoted to the first team squad. Rumours of Roman’s love of Dutch Total Football persist and suggest Huntelaar will be one of the buys. There might be an argument for leaving it at that and keeping Pizarro as a friendly South American mentor for di Santo. Newly found trust in the Sun (?) in general and Ian Garry in particular would have some of us believe David Villa is the main target. Not for me, though, as I’d prefer a four man strike force of Berbatov [rather than an EPL unproven Huntelaar], Anelka, di Santo and Kenwynne Jones. Pure selfishness, you understand, but it would be nice if Ramos turns his attention to Villa and a bidding war is averted by our backing down on the understanding that we get to sign an unsettled Berbatov. Okay, I know, it’s only a dream. Back to reality and should Kalou be treated by the club primarily as a central striker rather than a wide man, we will probably show no interest in Jones [shame, because we supposedly did so in the past] and another winger will be the preferred option. Ian McGarry thinks it will be Dos Santos (but then he doesn’t think Sinclair is staying) and if he turns out to be right (but not about Scott) it would be in keeping with previous rumours and strengthen our emphasis on youth. I’d like to think we’ll keep Sinclair, which would encourage the youngsters coming through no end, and wouldn’t be averse to seeing Joe, Kalou, Dos Santos and Sinclair as a wide Gang of Four. Looks as if Ben Haim’s departure was already planned for [with Ivanovic] and, depending on how versatile he turns out to be, cover at right back might be needed with further big money spent in this area. Quite frankly [excuse the pun] the cash may well have to be spent elsewhere, if Lamps goes, and obviously VDV has to come into the reckoning along, I would hope, with Modric. By the summertime either player could prove to be very expensive and neither will get us the goals return of a Lampard. Therefore, without him, our much anticipated new style of football will have to be effective in other ways, if we are to hit a similar rich vein of goals. Easier said than done, but also oh so much easier with a cushion of one or two trophies this season.
Maksimov
I'd rather see Modric come to Chelsea than VDV. It's not that I don't rate VDV, but he seems a bit injury prone and his life wouldn't become any easier if he came to play in the Premiership. Then again, VDV would be closer to Lampard in style of play as he scores a good amount of goals from midfield.
Tim
Interesting post as ever Dorset. What do people think about Dos Santos? From the limited amount I know, it seems that he was due to be the next Barca wonderkid, but has been eclipsed by Bojan and has let the playboy lifestyle take over a bit. Is he that good? Worth a punt or overrated? Seems odd that Barca would even consider letting a young star go, or indeed that they young star would want to leave a club that has never been shy of giving yougnsters a real chance to shine, unless he is just not good enough to make it there. In which case, why would we be interested?

Guest
Barca do make mistakes (as do all clubs). They let Fabregas go. My understanding is they fought tooth and nail to hold him but he decided to go the Le Gooners and because he was 16, Barclona didn't have a proffessional contract and therefore he could leave on a free transfer. ducavis
its nearly the end of the season with 8 games to gowill there be a mass exodus from the bridge?? YES Definitely and who who would you like to see at the bridge? This is an old thread from April 2008 which I would like to revive. Well the most important person in the mix would be the manager, as without him it would/might be difficult to sign any player. I think it might make some sense to appoint someone now as whatever the situation is with Hiddink, he will still have an input next season. So the players will know they are fighting for there places The Questions I would pose is 1. Who Do You 'Think/Want' The Next Chelsea Manager Would Be? 2. What Players Do You 'Want To/ Think Would' Leave The Bridge In The Summer 09? 3. What Players Do You 'Want At/ Think Would Be Coming To ' The Bridge In The Summer 09? 4. 4-5-1? Considering it is silly season (Internationals) at the moment and its nearing the end of the season; this might be fun till next season begins. My suggestions are coming up next! sexelk
1. I want Zola and Clarke. They have done a decent job at West Ham and are Chelsea through and through. Bring a bit of pride back to the club instead of useless tarts getting paid exorbitant amounts of money to do sweet fa. Maybe a couple of others like Desailly on the back room staff 2. Ballack, Malouda, Ballack, Deco, Ballack, Paulo, Ballack, Belletti, Ballack 3. Silva, Quaresma (perm), Villa (not going to happen). If not Villa then Aguero which prob won't happen either 4. I think I have made my feelings perfectly clear on this utterly w*nk formation oh and Ballack to leave
Dubzz 6
I agree with much of that.. 1. Zola & Clarke, maybe in a season or two I doubt it will happen yet.. 2. Alex, Paulo, Deco. 3. Van Der Vaart, Robinho. 4. I would like to see a more attacking 4.3.3.. because we have every right to play all out attacking football because we are a quality team, we need more adventerous tactics, sometimes I watch games where we could be so much more attacking and we just dont go for it much as we could.. i.e our 0-0 draw at home with Hull, we left it to late to start attacking. Teams like Hull shouldn't be able to handle us.
