Posted April 15, 200915 yr It was for me. Im sick of this 'raw talent yet to blossom' bollocks. Its been 3 seasons now. At 2-0 it was a time to see what players were made of last night and he made Ballack look like John McLaine. Gutless, and hopefully at the end of the season, gone.
April 15, 200915 yr i agree, hes had his chances and never settled into a first choice place. hes ok with the ball at his feet but rarely makes the right decision at the end of it.
April 15, 200915 yr Spoon-boot Maginty. Or as my dad calls him Sat-Nav Kalou - cos he goes down so many blind alleys :o Great on the floor, can dribble, great feet - but no composure at all. Leading upto this game I honestly thought he hadn't had a bad run and was OK against Liverpool in the 1st leg. Edited April 15, 200915 yr by BLUENUT
April 15, 200915 yr I agree...don't think he will get any better....didn't like him when he played for feyenoord...and now I still don't like him
April 15, 200915 yr Kalou is woefully inconsistant. Our problem is what do we do with him in the summer? Being out of contract do we let him walk for free or offer him a new one hoping he improves but with the provisio we would get some money for him should we decide the parting of the waves had come

Gutless, and hopefully at the end of the season, gone. totally agree, thought that while malouda played well again, kalou was awful... I still think malouda should go, but this confirms for me that kalou should go too (well, convinced before then, but it was the final nail). has been obvious for months and years that's where we need to improve. niether are good enough, and the big players in the side are the ones who can overcome losses of confidence and still provide something, kalou seems mentally weak as well as lacking as a footballer at the highest level. p.s. he is also an example of a young player we've given plenty of chances, any way you look at it it's pretty hjard to justify his place in the squad next season. April 15, 200915 yr I think we should let Kalou go as well. His contract is up at the end of the season and the only thing we will achieve by renewing it is killing his career. He can move on on a free to a lesser club and have a perfectly good career in which he plays regular first team football. He will never get that with us. He would be best to go back to the Dutch league where he will break scoring records and persuade Spurs to pay £18m for him in two years.
April 15, 200915 yr Whats the matter, finding it hard to fault Malouda just now? Not really sure what youre getting at. Basically, Mod's saying that Malouda is out shining Kalou at the moment. And he's right. We were all saying how we should use Kalou over Malouda before but now it's the other way round. Malouda is actually playing very well for us at the moment and Kalou is dropping. Everyone was calling for a Malouda goodbye before...if we get rid of him AND Kalou, what have we got then?!
April 15, 200915 yr if we get rid of him AND Kalou, what have we got then?! well, usually in football, you buy players as well as sell them. if they both go, what we will have, even before we sign replacements, is renewed optimism. malouda didn't play well on the weekend but has had two good games against liverpool. unfortunately, we've seen more than enough already, and whatever he does by the end of the season, it won't be enough.

It think it's fair enough that we sell both as they haven't performed consistently at all. But before we sell, we should get their replacements first.
April 15, 200915 yr We should just get rid of both of them, we should buy Zhirkov and Di Maria That would give us enough of depth:Joey(when he is fit at the start of next season),Zhirkov,Di Maria,Stoch,Kakuta (I would love to see this kid play a bit when he gets fit) They are all young and hungry to play, all of them (exept Joey) have all to prove on the big stage Edited April 15, 200915 yr by Blue_Boy
April 15, 200915 yr I said before Scolari was sacked that Kalou is'nt good enough to wear the shirt...after half an hour last night he underlined it...at least Guus had the balls to change it and bring Anelka on at 2-0 down... As for Malouda.... even a blind squirrel will find his nuts 1 day....
April 15, 200915 yr If we are to sell players before we buy, then I wonder what will happen with Kalou and Malouda. We can get money for Malouda, but Kalou is off on a free, so will we be forced to keep one of them (Malouda)? Scott
April 15, 200915 yr Yes i agree we should definetly let kalou off hes worse dan dat other gobsh*te we had a few seasons ago, Geremi. At least we will have a bit quality back next year when Joey Cole comes back an maybe we can hold onto Quaresma because he has some potential if he plays anythin like he did at porto.
April 15, 200915 yr Kalou to me is more suited to a central role, saying that, I agree and along with Malouda should go at the seasons end. Arsenal is his likely destination but I have a hunch Malouda will still reside here. Hiddink gave valid reasons why we play 4-3-3 last night, with opposition full backs pushing on etc and Liverpool playing two wide with Torres alone like Drogba. What we saw last night in the second half proved beyond doubt Drogba in the mood is unplayable. But we need class above everything out wide to compete at the top level. Stoch and Kakuta are for the future, but as mentioned how long do we give a player time to show his true quality ? Just look at Scott Sinclair as an example and he is yet to break into the first team like Kalou. Unlike Diarra who excelled at full back in Jose's time here in Europe and was never given a real chance by either us or Arsenal in his prefered role, Kalou is terribly inconsistent. IT STILL bugs me we never bought a player to replace Arjen Robben and while I wonder what wonders Hiddink would do with Joey Cole, we simply have to get Ribery in the summer if we want to improve our TEAM as opposed to squad for all our recent purchases or loans have failed to convince or done enough for the manager to pencil him in like a Lampard, Terry or Essien. I think the other thing to say, is that part of the reason I still like him, rather than being incredibly frustrated with him, is because our squad at the time had enough quality to make sure he didn't have to play TOO much, and unfortunately for the club, a lack of options has meant a player of kalou's quality has played far too much for a side with our aspirations.
April 15, 200915 yr Players who, IMO, should be on our summer shopping list; Theo Walcott Franck Ribery Ashley Young Aaron Lennon Some maybe realistic targets, some may not, but I would have any of those in our starting line-up before either Malouda or Kalou
April 15, 200915 yr The only one of those four that I wouldn't be so keen on is Lennon. I am still not convinced that he is a consistent performer and I suspect his sky high transfer fee will turn out not to be worth it. I would take the other three in a heart beat.
April 15, 200915 yr Inconsistency. I know what you mean Loz, and have mentioned it previously myself. But he still has games were he turns on the turbo and makes a big difference. He is direct, he is very, very quick, he can burn past defenders, he doesn't mind the defensive aspect of the game. His delivery is still hit and miss but, he has shown real signs of improvement this season. I admit he would be a gamble, but if his current upward curve continues it could pay dividends. After all a great many Chelsea fans loved Arjen Robben to bits and his middle name was inconsistency. Or was it injury? Can never remember. Incidentally, have you seen the size of Walcott since his return? What the f*ck has Wenger been feeding him? Edited April 15, 200915 yr by just
April 15, 200915 yr I know (about Walcott) - almost freaky enough to suspect foul play! For me Walcott is now showing clear signs that he is going to be a formidable talent rather than a bit part player. Get him fully fit and get him in the England team as he is going to damage every defence he plays against.

I think you are being generous Just. I havent seen any improvement at all. If you ask me he was most 'dangerous' in his first season when he was still an unknown quantity. I also think you are over estimating his pace. Would you really offer him a new contract in June ? Has he really done enough to earn it ? Is he really good enough ? Would he get into any of our main rivals XI/squad ? Are opposing players scared of him ? Its a no for me for all of the above im afraid. I dont enjoy having a pop at Chelsea players, particulary ones that seem like decent guys, but most of all i want Chelsea to do well with the best players. For me Kalou doesnt cut the mustard and never will. We've an opportunity in the Summer to let him go and give his place in the squad to someone else, and I hope we do just that. April 16, 200915 yr bjd - I think you're talking about Kalou and Just is talking about Lennon. I don't rate either to be honest, but out of the two I would swap Kalou for Lennon and give him a go. But hopefully with Joe back next season and perhaps more outings for Stoch and Kakuta, wouldn't bother.
