Ha ha. "Your sister is your mother, your uncle is your brother, you all f*ck one another the Oxford family Na na na nah" Still p*ssed off with Oxford for dumping us out of the cup in 1991.

Not every Chelsea fan shouts abuse at Benitez though. I most certainly haven't. I'm indifferent to him as a manager and was/am still p*ssed off at how the club treated Di Matteo.

Or Red Star Belgrade in 1991 and Steaua Bucharest in 1986 when they played for pens. No one give as sh*t how they won them....just that there are stars on their shirts.....unlike every London club other than Chelsea.

Last I heard he was at Monaco....no doubt on course to win nothing as usual.

You wouldn't want Fergie? Seriously? Not that it's possible.

Also, the two you feel the most strongly against (Sven and Houllier) have actually won quite a lot of trophies between them.

Moyes...
I don't see why it's a huge risk. Even if he gets sacked, he'll get an enormous payout. He'd still get a job afterwards too....Villas Boas walked into the Spurs job. Grant only really got the Pompey and West Ham jobs because he had been Chelsea's manager so it did him no harm. If he did a poor or average job and was sacked (or even a brilliant job and was sacked ), I don't think many would see it as too much of a skid mark on his curriculum vitae. They'll just put it down to Roman and his trigger happy finger. Everyone would be on his side (like they were with AVB even though his sacking was fully vindicated in the end).

Moyes...
I don't know about that. With Everton, he has done a good job yes, but his job spec is to make them hard to beat.....win your games at home against the tripe and try and frustrate the big boys (which of course isn't as easy as it sounds given the ammount of managers that have failed at that). But Fergie is expected to win every week....and with a bit of style. The consistency of his results is remarkable.

Moyes...
I don't think they could give a flying bumhole what the fans wants. They've proved that in the past. If they go for Moyes, it'll be cause they want him.....not cause they feel it'll appease the fans.

The Cardiff cup finals were good once you were in the city, but getting home was an absolute ball ache. Climbing Everest in stilettos would be easier.

Moyes...
Just reading some of the comments on The Mail website. The general consensus appears to be "why would Moyes want to go to Chelsea with their track record for sacking manager?" Erm....to treble his wages? To be given a large transfer war chest? To inherit a squad already packed with quality? To finally challenge for the big honours? To manage in the Champion's League (hopefully)? To live in London? Even if he gets sacked, he'd get a mega pay out. I'd jump at the chance if I were him. Gotta be better than finishing around 7th every year and winning nothing.....and he's done that for 10 years! Surely time for a change?

Totally different job to the one he has done at Everton but I wouldn't be too displeased.

I'd take the latter (if we're talking about Ali now).

A Groves Vs Degale rematch at The Bridge would be good.

Really? I thought it was 1980. I'm sure I've seen a photo of Geoff Hurst and Bobby Gould with the cricketers at Chelsea and they were around in about 80 weren't they? Maybe I'm wrong.

Ha ha.....why is Di Matteo like Pingu? He has always struck me as perculiarly Chinese looking for an Italian.......but nothing like an aquatic, flightless bird. Your points regarding finding a suitable successor for Benitez now are valid. We've already sacked most of them. But devaluing what RDM achieved last season is pretty stupid in my opinion. He took over with the team in a mess and overturned a 3-1 away defecit against Napoli which AVB left him with. Then he defeated Benfica and Barca over two legs.....then beat Bayern in their own stadium to lift the Champion's League trophy. He also beat Tottenham (no, smashed Tottenham) at Wembley...then defeated Liverpool at Wembley in the FA Cup Final. I wouldn't fancy us doing that under Rafa. Regarding his league points last season, no, it it wasn't amazing but he was resting players at the end for the cup games and it was already a lost cause after all the points dropped under AVB. He was sacked this season with us only trailing the leaders by a few points. I personally don't boo Benitez as I feel he's just doing a job. He had been out of work for a while and a job like Chelsea comes up so of course he's gonna take it. That said, surely you can understand why some feel aggrieved? They sacked a club legend who had just delivered the European Cup and replaced him with someone who they knew was unpopular. It shows they don't give a f*** about what the fans think. I've heard people say "oh but you can't criticise Abramovich because of all he has done for Chelsea." Of course, this makes it difficult.....but it was a decision that baffled many so why shouldn't they voice their disapproval? It's like someone letting you live in their house for free.......of course you would be grateful.....but then them curling out a turd on the coffee table. Despite all they've done for you, you'd still have to say something wouldn't you? You're not gonna be happy with that regardless of your free accommodation (erm....I think this analogy works). As for the CL victory being bereft of any glory and feeling fake. To you maybe......but I was in Munich for it and it didn't feel like that for me. It was f***ing brilliant and I pity you if you support a team which will probably never achieve that. Now please get cat aids, f*ck off and die.

That was in 1980 right? Weird that they played cricket at the Bridge. How easy must it have been for Botham to score a boundary into the East Stand? It appears ridiculously close in that photo. It was a real shame they couldn't get David Haye Vs Klitschko on at Chelsea. Would love to have gone to that. To my knowlegde, I don't think Stamford Bridge has ever seen a top class boxing bout? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Obviously Wembley had loads.....and I think Highbury saw Henry Cooper fight Ali in the rematch (1966?). The Nigel Benn Vs Chris Eubank rematch was at Old Trafford and Barry McGuigan fought at Loftus Road. West Ham has seen plenty of boxing too. Regarding those old pictures of Stamford Bridge in that previous page, who here ever stood on the old West Terrace? It looks absolutely massive! Would be interesting to hear what it was like. You'd need to have been going pre mid-60's to have experienced it.

A move from Stamford Bridge
There'd be far too much local objection to that.

I liked it when Cardiff dumped Leeds out of the cup (must have been around 2001?) and their fans invaded the pitch and taunted the Leeds lot at the end.

He finished the career of Paul Elliot (former Chelsea centre back) with a bad tackle. It went to court. I believe he's just been made the manager of Wolves though.....so at least that one is unlikely.

Yeah I agree it was a stupid appointment. My only point was that I can't really get that riled about those quotes attributed to him.

Well if you think that, then fair enough.....I just don't think those quotes are that offensive.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I don't really think those quotes warrant hatred towards him.

Good move for Didier. Big club, passionate fans and a great city.
