  1. he didn't make a mistake in not sending him off... there is no way he could have seen it... that's what retroactive action is for. torres shouldn't have been sent off for the "scratch" cos the ref can't have seen it...torres shouldn't have been sent off for challenging for a header cos that is retarded. the ref made one mistake...not 2.
  2. i was shocked it was continually referred to as a trip...it was a blatant dive, worse than the townsend one & should have been a booking...booking torres for being near him when he did it was appalling. vertonghen was diving all day & was the last man when he took down ramires. should have been off in this game & shouldn't have played in this game as he should have been off against villa too. he is a lucky boy. more importantly: i hope that is the last time we see mikel & lampard together as cms. given our options, it won't be...ramires can't play every game.
  3. No. He offered a statement of fact...that teams who don't normally play defensive football had done so against us...then added that he would have done the same in their position.
  4. "(Dropping) David is a simple tactical decision. I didn’t like his game against Basle. After a few defeats we need some stability positionally but especially emotionally." Jose mourinho
  5. tbh eden is actually defending less than he was last season. he barely tracked back at all last night, whereas last season he really impressed me with how hard he worked off the ball. tbh i think something is wrong with him...either the injury he's playing through is worse than is being let on...or that hamstring injury he got toward the end of last season is still effecting him either physically or mentally. that is just speculation on my part though. whether the reasonst...he has been a major disappointment so far this season.
  6. i'm a big fan of traditional wingers, but you need the right players in the box...
  7. it's early days but i like the guy. quick, technically good, decent in the air, works incredibly hard, can play in a few positions (left, right, and lone striker already this season) and do a decent job...he seems like a solid squad option. imo he is a step up on the players we've had as back-up in recent years (kalou, marin, moses).
  8. you're entitled to be a fan of luiz but it doesn't help your argument if you lie.
  9. 1. he definitely is. 2. if willian plays 20 or so league games (like moses) then i would bet on him at least matching the 1 league goal moses scored last year.
  10. "Jose Mourinho says Wayne Rooney is Chelsea's only summer transfer target after Manchester United rejected their bid for the England striker...when asked if the Blues had made any other bids for players, the Portuguese said: "No - and we won't." it is easy to know what someone says. it is much harder to know what they really think.
  11. isn't it great that some people know exactly what our manager thinks? saves everyone the bother of thinking for themselves. so far this season it has looked our safest and best balanced pairing (imo). but as you say...that could change.
  12. in the context of a football crowd calling someone judas...it has never meant that ever. or am i missing all the crowds calling jt judas? no...that doesn't happen. torres gets called a judas though. one betrayed a friend. one left a club. which one is a football judas? but hey...keep it up...the internet needs more pointless and misled pedantry.
  13. yeah. they called him "judas" cos he celebrated a goal with dean saunders. that makes perfect sense.
  14. i don't believe that the footage of him giving saunders a cuddle or whatever poisoned chelsea fans against him. i was a regular at the bridge at that time...albeit as a kid; a kid whose favourite player was andy townsend...from my perspective the stick townsend got definitely seemed to be cos he left. i understand people who are upset with the elliott stuff in hindsight, but it seems like revisionism to make us seem less petty.
  15. because every chelsea fan ever was at villa park to witness it? because every chelsea fan watched motd that saturday night rather than going out so they could watch all the goals from our embarrassing loss to blackburn? i'm not sure that millisecond of footage had the huge cultural impact you think it did. he did leave us and publicly declare he was doing so to win trophies though. which tends to p*ss fans off. but whatever...like i said...i don't moralise about sportsmen. you're free to, of course.
  16. iirc he got dogs abuse the first time he came back (hit the bar too; "typical bloody townsend") and that was while elliott was still trying to come back and ages before the court case...so i doubt that.
  17. i always assumed the negative reaction he got was more to do with him asking to leave when hoddle arrived "cos he wanted to win trophies innit". tbh i don't recall townsend saying anything during the court case or being particularly involved after the initial tackle anyway. vinnie definitely did stitch paul up though.
  18. i've never moralised about any footballer...or i wouldn't like any of them. celebrating a goal with dean saunders is hardly the worst crime a former/current chelsea player has committed. i wasn't referring to you.
  19. our captain and best player when i was a kid. scored this goal, which is a very special childhood moment for me:
  20. people reading your posts is what gets you labelled.
  21. my point being not that luiz (or anyone) was "at fault" but that he is consistently reckless in the way he defends and plays in general. this is true even in games where he plays well...where the chances he takes come off rather than get punished. it is a perfectly fair opinion to believe that he is too reckless as a defender...just like it is a fair opinion to approve of his pro-active style of defending. to deny that he takes chances that many defenders wouldn't is demented and probably the opinion of a fanboy.
  22. hazard's booking yesterday. stop being a demented fanboy.
  23. you can divide up the players pretty evenly, the double team might just come out in front...but in a head-to-head i'd pick any jose team to beat any carlo team 9 times out of 10. that's what won us the league...beating all the other contenders. the thing is, that was the worst those contenders had been in years and would be until, well, now. man utd lost ronaldo, arsenal sold half their team to man city and liverpool went into freefall...we beat all those and we still managed to lose 6 times in the league?
  24. was that ever confirmed by a reliable source? cos i'm pretty sure that was just a rumour and sahin went to liverpool because they offered a higher loan fee and paid more of his wages. you dodged a bullet regardless, but i doubt jose would be so petty about a club who were no threat to real.
