Fellaini
I was asking cause he's already shown his aerial prowess over the course of the two previous seasons, I assumed you watched one match and based it off that.

That was hardly a Chelsea and if they had passed the ball around much quicker instead of fanning around with is they would easily have scored more and won.

Good ol' british grit and determination. Fancy way of saying he's sh*t and has no purpose.

Not at all, it's a perfectly fine logic because all players develop differently. You're looking down at 2 and a half years of football as if it's nothing, 2 years of football at a top team is more than enough to improve VDW. If I could be brothered I would list "non young" players have that improved drastically just within 2 years by playing for the top teams.

I didn't say he was though, nor did I imply it. So I don't understand your point?

2 and a half years is a lot in footballing terms. Only took Ramires half a year to improve drastically.

I should hope so, he's 26 and in his prime.

What happened to Ekdal? Easily Sweden's best midfielder imo.

The "everything you want to say about Torres" thread
Not really a moot point, you said Drogba was a clinical striker and yet his numbers in the league tell a different story. He's hardly more dependable than Torres, were was he when we needed the points to qualify for europe form teams we should have beaten? Anyway, Torres has little to work with and feed off from. You should save your opinions for when he plays with the creative force that has been gathered in the likes of Hulk & Hazard. Until then you can't tell how he would perform next season, you can assume but that would be a "moot" argument.

Agreed, I was even rolling my eyes at one stage. Bad thing was I knew it was coming as soon as I saw he was coming on, it was like they couldn't wait. Kids on a sugar high.

Modric Act II
We desperately needed Modric to play the type of football AVB was trying to install into the team, now that he's gone and RDM is the manager we don't need him as much as we did before. People haven't changed their tune, it's just the circumstances have changed. It's not so much that I don't want him (I'm hardly going to be upset when I see him signing for us), it's just that him joining would just push the likes of Romeu and KDB even further back. It's bad enough already that we barely use our young players, I mean even City play theirs more than us.

Fellaini
Fellaini is a quite average holding midfielder so even if he is a better player than Mikel, which I don't agree with, he still wouldn't get in ahead of him. Can't quite function as a pivot, he'll do the role no harm but it's hardly an ideal role for him. So yeah, hard to see a place in a fully fit team for him apart from the bench.

Modric Act II
I personally think Romeu does Modric's job just as well as the real deal and he's much younger. I agree he did lose his way a bit, not quite sure what happened there but I hope he's given a lot more first team football than RDM provided him with last season cause he's already shown his class. I would keep Essien myself, can't just get rid when he's just come back from a serious injury. Also I doubt we would get any decent offer anyway so what's the harm in keeping him? Would be worse if he was sold and then went back to being his world class self (Not really possible but you get what I mean, close enough to his former self) I would also try and get KDB into the team too but that's probably too much too soon, the front four are going to need to adjust as well so at the very least the 2 midfielders should be solid and know how to play with each other already. Agree with the rest though.

Modric Act II
Because we already have players that play his role, a few of them with the potential to be better if not just as good as Modric. Of course if we got rid of a few like Meireles then I would welcome his signing.

Fellaini
That can't be right, Madrid were told to cough up £45m for Javi Martinez.

Depends on the centre back paring for Italy. Everything else is fine, strikers aren't fantastic but good enough to get you the win, but the partnership at the back is crucial. If they go for who I think they will then they would be lucky to get a draw.

Hulk coming to Chelsea?
There were times when players didn't even rush over to close him down cause all he was doing was putting in aimless crosses. I wouldn't call that openings myself. Well yeah you could say the same about the goal that Denmark scored too but it doesn't change the fact that there a huge element of luck involved.
-
Hulk coming to Chelsea?
He made 2, maybe 3 really great crosses from the countless he tried. The rest were easy for the keeper and defence, no striker would have got to them. And yeah, I agree with that he did his part well and also held the width but that's not really ripped Coentrao a new one now is it. He barely got pass Coentrao and when he did he was shut down soon enough. He was decent, nothing special. Much like the rest of the German attack. And it was lucky, it clearly takes a deflection and changes the path of the cross dramatically.

Gregory van der Wiel
Isn't he only 22? Whilst I don't like him myself, I would accept him purely for the reasons mentioned by Bane. And not to mention his value will only go up so if we were to sell him in the future it would be for a profit, no matter how small.
-
Hulk coming to Chelsea?
He hardly tore Coentrao a new one, all he did was get crosses in quickly (crosses were of poor quality too, probably cause he took them so quick before anyone nevermind Coentrao could get tight). He didn't beat him one on one or nor did anything meaningful before that lucky goal.

Disappointing to lose to yet another hopeful German cross that only reached it's target by luck but we still played better than them and made more chances then they did despite not even playing well. Postiga needs to be assassinated, maybe then he will stop getting picked. Although I doubt it with this manager, he'll probably still pick his corpse over any other striker. Terrible management.

The Dutch should always start with either VDV or better yet Hunterlar because unlike RVP they actually stay in the middle of the pitch and offer you options. Not sure why they changed when it worked well in qualifications, thought they had finally learned their lesson. Everyone roaming works well against poorly organised teams but you always need someone in the middle.

I very much doubt Portugal are going to concede 4 goals, we are generally good defensively. Germany probably will win but it won't be domination, far from it.
