Not sure why Cucu stopped running back

I actually thought he would do well as he's very good on the ball but didn't look the same player he was at Leicester, then again he didn't really feature much at all.

Thought he played well on the ball going back to his more deeper/sitting role. Few issues with him being left to cover a lot of spaces on the counter when Cucu went forward but overall wasn't too bad.

I'm not sure why you are acting like we lost 0-3. 2 goals at Arsenal is entirely possible for this team, especially with our 3 best players back.

From the small bits I saw he showed better hold up play as well then likes of Delap or Pedro.

Considering we are missing first team players and it took Sanchez messing up twice for them to score, I would say its a good result to take into the second leg.

So they called the shots to have him sold to Fulham, when that failed they forced Maresca to play him over the many options we had available? Did they also force Maresca to play him striker? How come Josh didn't get the same treatment?

I think George getting the gametime he did up till now shows that Maresca did in fact have control over the team as I'm pretty sure he was the only one who rated him.

I don’t know how to link videos so can’t prove my point but if you go watch it back, while the ball is still in the air he gets bumped first which could easily have been avoided by simply moving goal side to him as he already had him for pace. He gets bumped a second time after the ball bounces but this only happens because he’s already slowed down possibly thinking he can get a header on the ball which doesn’t happen and then he pulls him down. It’s just poor decisions one after the other.

He didn't even need to let him score, he had enough pace and time to actually get in front of him instead of wrestling him to the ground.

I actually thought he was a good player when at brighton but didn't have the physicality to succeed as a left back.

Xavi made is pretty clear he wanted the United job previously so it shouldn't take much effort from either side to get it done.

I am actually a bit worried United will pick up a competent manager in Xavi now.

As long as he fits tactically and doesn't have Gusto inverting again I'm not really fussed about him not being a big name manager.

He was fine to be honest. Some cricuial blocks on Haaland. Im not going to blame him entirely for the goal, it was poor defending overall and to his credit he did get a block on the shot it just wasn't enough.

Some bad passes due to miscommunication but overall was great today. Seemed like he was everywhere. Could have come away with an assist too if Neto wasn't Neto.

To be fair a lot of the balls he is getting are in the air

I honestly do not care who the manager is as long as they do not do silly things like playing Gusto as a attacking midfielder. The bar is really low for me, I am not asking for an elite manager. I just want simple football with players in their right roles. This team would suit a counter attacking manager so that would also be a bonus too.
