Christian Pulisic - Official
Wow so much hate of Pulisic! It's been a few years since I've watched much football, but I used to quite like him and was excited to see what he would become

Victor Moses joining Chelsea?
Yeah I think the FFP rules get more severe as time goes on so we should be OK. I'm less clear about the homegrown player rule. I thought that you must have trained for 3 years in England prior to your 21st Birthday. That means non-Biritsh players can qualify and so a few of our overseas players could qualify, although I'd be surprised if Ivanovic and Essien were part of them. Maybe this is why we are buying so many young players now? Players like Courtois, Lukaku and De Bruyne will all qualify as homegrown in a couple of years. I guess the comfort is that the club know more about this than we do. I'm sure that they have a plan in place to deal with it. But back to the matter at hand, I like Moses and think he'd be a useful signing

Thorgan Hazard
Can't say I'm massively excited by this, very rare for two siblings to be both really good. One is usually pretty average. Think John to Wayne Rooney and Peter to John Terry. The exception is obviously the Da Silva twins, because in that case they're both sh*te

Victor Moses joining Chelsea?
I have two concerns with this massive spending spree we are going on this summer, (1) how can we afford to with FFP? and (2) do we not need more British players? With these two questions in mind I worry about how we could justify signing Hulk, much as I would like him. The signing of Moses sits much more comfortably with me. Plus, I agree with what Notnowjim says, he is a very useful player who would add something to us. He shouldn't be put down because he plays at Wigan. Just look at how Valencia has progressed since leaving Wigan for Man Utd. I would say that Moses and Valencia are at a similar level in their Wigan days and Utd paid £16m for Valencia! In summary, cheap(relatively), English and a good player. I say fo gor it

The "everything you want to say about Torres" thread
I don't want to sound like an arse but I think a lot happens during a game that you don't pick up watching on TV but can see when you're there and it's easy to blame Torres for not scoring. From where I was sitting it was obvious that Chelsea lacked any real width during the first hour and when Ivanovic was bringing the ball forward he had noone in front of him. Drogba was understandably staying centrally and I'm not really sure what Sturridge was up to much of the time so it needed someone like Torres to run into those channels and pockets of space. That's what he ended up doing and I thought we looked much better with him on running into spaces. People around me were commenting, and I agree, that you could see from some of the touches, runs and dribbles he had that he is a classy player but his confidence in front of goal is just absolutely shot.

AVB Sacked!
God this is so depressing. Why can't we just stick with a manager and give them an opportunity to build? the only silver lining that could come of this would be for Jose to come back. Even then, if we don't win th CL in his first year back he'll probably gt sacked again. Someone said it yesterday on another thread, but with all the money we've had pumped into th club we've done nothing to ensure the long term future of the club. We should've been turning the screw in 2005 to 2007 and building foundations for the long term instead of chasing short term goals o a season by season basis.

Mikel to Anzhi
I think we paid £16m for him if I recall correctly. £12m to his original club and £4m to United. Useful squad player but I wonder whether what he can offer actually justifies the wages he is on.

Chelsea chants
I remember at the Villa game this one being sung to us by the travelling Villa fans: We're winning away, how sh*t must you be? K.T.B.F.F.H, could you link the thread please? I searched but couldn't find one, hence why I started this one

A move from Stamford Bridge
With FFP now in effect is building a new stadium/developing SB going to seriously effect our ability to buy any players before it is finished?

Chelsea chants
I would also love it if we could get the East and West stands singing more. I think it's a great shame that the atmosphere is a bit flat in those stands

Chelsea chants
So, I was in the MHL stand yesterday enjoying a good sing song but there were a couple of chants I didn't know the lyrics too. I thought it would be useful if we could share chants and songs here so more of us can join in and they don't get lost to the ages. I'll start the ball rolling with the famous carefree: Carefree, wherever we may be We are the famous CFC And we don't give a f**k Whoever you may be 'Cos we are the famous CFC

Chelsea v Bolton (PL) 25/02/12 KO 15:00 GMT
Good 2nd half performance today. I was in the MHL and I loved the support being given for Frank all game. He obviously loved it too, at the end of the game he came over and kissed the badge whilst everyone sang "Super Frankie Lampard". Great to see him in the team again. let's hope him and AVB can patch up their differences so Frankie can start playing more instead of Meireles. I don't want to lose either Frank or AVB. On another note, is there somewhere I can see lyrics of all the Chelsea chants? There were one or two today I didn't recognise

FA Youth Cup 2011/12 Thread
Agree that Piazon looks like a talent, excited about how he might develop

Chelsea v Bolton (PL) 25/02/12 KO 15:00 GMT
I wouldn't mind seeing Torres and Drogba paired together. If we don't have any incision at least we can hit Drogba who could hopefully flick things on for Torres. It wouldn't be pretty to watch mind.

AVB - who's behind him?
I agree it should be our minimum requirement but commerical reality is that he was the hot property at the end of last season and Chelsea were chasing him around like a lovesick teen. He could probably gone to any one of a number of clubs and his agent would've held the ace card in negotiations. I doubt any manager would agree to a contract that says they can be removed for nothing given how precarious their positions constantly are
-
AVB - who's behind him?
I guess that they could put in whatever they want but who would sign that contract? It's all about the power of your negotiating position when drawing up the contract and frankly Roman would've been desperate to get AVB in
-
AVB - who's behind him?
I think you would be surprised how difficult it actually is to sack someone. You would have to be doing something incredibly wrong to get fired, like a serious breach of contract, not just that you are not getting all the results you should or the boss doesn't like you. If you can't then unilaterally terminate someone's contract it becomes a situation where you have to negotiate them leaving. I imagine for football manager's contracts that clause goes in at the start and says "I agree to my contract being terminated early by you if you pay me X for doing so". Obviously the better managers can negotiate bigger pay outs. But yeah, in short, as poor as the manager is they are not actually breaching their contract so it's not a simple termination but the exercise of a negotiated right. Make sense?

Views on the squad (merged)
I agree in part with Sppiller on this. Selling Frank to me seems ridiculous. I don't think he should be starting every game but he's still a great player and should maybe be playing 1 in 2 with McEachran. Same for Ashley really. He's not his old self but he should be there to share the burden with Bertrand. These type of experienced squad players are where United have done so well over the years. You need to keep them in to smooth the transition from one generation to the next, you shouldn't just cut them all loose. That said, imagine the salary savings if Cole, Lampard and Drog were moved on this year. That may be a necessity if we don't get CL football.

Juan Mata appreciation thread
Enjoyed that video footballoholic. He is a great player, his assists and goals ratio is already really good and if he can continue that he will be one hell of a player for us once. If everyone else starts pitching in then the future is bright blue. He needs to play centrally because he doesn't have a real burst of pace on the wing. If I were to have one critiscism it would be that sometimes his delivery from corners is not great. I think he could improve there.

Napoli v Chelsea (CL) 21/02/12 KO 19:45 GMT
Was Malouda really playing in the middle last night? I thought that I saw Mata moving more centrally with Malouda out wide. Sadly, I think including Malouda is the only way we can get the best out of Mata by giving him the licence to roam. Personally, I would like to see a bit more of Kalou instead of just stubbornly persisting with Sturridge. I would go: -----Torres/Drog----- Malouda----------Kalou -----Mata----Ramires---- --------Essien----------- I really do fear us dropping out of the CL and how that will affect our ability to overhaul the squad with FFP in effect. On the plus side, with so many fans turning on AVB and Chelsea maybe I'll be able to get a season ticket next year!

Napoli v Chelsea (CL) 21/02/12 KO 19:45 GMT
The best thing about tonight was Gary Neville's punditry. Much as I dislike him it's interesting to hear what he has to say as a player who has done everything at club football

Napoli v Chelsea (CL) 21/02/12 KO 19:45 GMT
We are getting a lesson if how to attack a pace. Every time they go oforward they look like scoring, we look awful at the back as per. Also just cannot understand the decision to again persist with Meireles, either lampsrd or Essen would've been a better choice

Leaked new kit
I don't like this kit, it looks like a poor knock-off of the one from the season before (the one Torres is wearing in my pic). Not sure about the trim on the sleeves

Why Cahill hasn't been playing..
Reassuring to read this to be honest. Will be delighted if the end of the illness means Ivan can move out to RB with Bos dropping to the bench (or possibly off the face off the earth)
